  1. Thanks for that I live in a village called frampton cotterell on the outskirts of Bristol. I've only been riding a few months, but am not riding at all at the moment after buckling my wheel completely after mucking up a 4 and a 1/2 ft drop! Need to get A new one sorted asap James
  2. Hey all I find riding much easier when I am doing it to music, and so was wondering if we could compile a thread of the different music people listen to whilst riding. I'll start off by saying I am quite liking Vampire Weekend at the moment for the slight african style in their music : James
  3. Am looking into getting a seatless 26" frame to put on my SS mountain bike, but am confused. What is the difference between a long and short frame, and which would be better for just mucking about on walls and pallets. Thanks James
  4. I did mine at undercover rock climbing centre in bristol. I did an hours work on the desk or in the office in the morning, and climbed from 10 till 5, helping with a few groups once or twice a day. As I am quite into climbing I loved it and it gave me a great insight into how the centre runs, and am now looking into instructing when I leave school. James
  5. Hey I'm James and I have been interested in riding trials since i watched a few videos of Danny Macaskill on my work experience a year back. I don't ride a proper trials bike, but am hoping to get one later this year. At the moment I am riding a 26" single-speed hack bike which I m trying to attempt some trials on. I joined this website due to the heap of free information available from those without obvious bias towards sponsors and employers. James
  6. Well mine seems to work well for "trials" compared to the years previous model which my mate had but they seem to be moving more and more towards the xc end rather than street and recreation nowadays, but the new ones actually look quite nice for a budget bike. James
  7. Out of Interest, How long have boulders been around? Mine is a boulder frame but thats around 4 or 5 years old James
  8. Had a bit of a practice using the video linked by bikeperson45 and have almost got the rear wheel hops, can manage 8 before bailing. Heres a pic or two: (I think I may be a bit high on the bike in this one) Enjoy James
  9. Thanks for that, awesome video, I think I've herad of that guy before James
  10. Hey all I've taken some pics of my bike, feel free to comment The bike. The front of the bike. Running a 22-12 gear ratio. Massive 2.5" tires barely fit throughthe frame! James
  11. Thanks for that mate I can do about two hops after rocking from and endo so this is a reasonable target James
  12. Hey all I've started saving for a dedicated trials bike, an onza T-Pro 2010, so should have that by christmas. In the mean time I hope to do trials on my 26" hack bike. Its an old Giant Boulder frame which I have sprayed and then turned single speed, running a 22-12 ratio. I have some Scwalbe Crazybob 2.5" tires and a downhill stem, bars and headset. I also have a set of rock-shocks forks on. Can I practice trials on this, and what sort of stuff is possible on a non trials-specific bike. I can already do bunny hops, pivoting, wheelies and a pedal kick of sorts. Thanks James P.S Ill se if I can get a pic put up at some point
  13. That is a NICE bike, just a little out of my price range unfortunately, shame though James
  14. I can agree with that as I have used them for bits for my singlespeed and the parcels always arrived next day in great condition. Thanks all James
  15. OK it looks like the pro has more good reviews compared to the bird, but the comp is the one to go for. Thanks for that. One last question and then I'm out of your hair, are there any other trials bike shops online that are reputable, as Tartybikes is the only one I know Thanks again James
  16. Ill give them a ring in the morning and see. I was thinking of getting the pro and upgrading the forks after a few months to a set of Neon Curved Blades2010 as seen here My link, is this advisable, as it would mean i could then upgrade to some hydraulics at the same time. I prefer the look of the pro, but am unsure as to whether its worth going for the better model statistically or aesthetically. Thanks anyway James
  17. Hi there again Is there much difference in spec between the pro and the comp. I see the comp has magura hydraulic rims whereas the pro has mechanical discs. Does one offer any advantage over the other in terms of efficiency, maintenance, reliability etc? Thanks James
  18. Hey all First post so here goes, I am looking at buying myself a trials specific bike. After getting into the sport on my 26" single-speed mountain bike due to watching some Macaskill videos, the time has come to get myself a proper bike. I think i will go for a mod as i like the feel of my mates. My question is which one is recommended by the people. I have a budget of up to around 500 quid, and I want to buy new as it would be a long term project to upgrade the bike as time passes. Had a quick look on Tartybikes and like the look of the onza pro or the yaabaa 549. What are these like, and are there any others worth considering for that price. Many thanks James
