theres no reason really why your screwdrvier 'bodge' wouldnt do the collar up i dont think. i dont do mine up that tight, even with allen keys, purely because its such a shit bolt that it will round! maybe just undo the screw, then tighten the actual collar and then retighten the screw. although im guessing youve tried that mate...

yeah dont heat it you could do with the clamps, then just tap the fitting in with a hammer... you could try clamping it without the proper clamps, just make sure you dont damage the hose!
