that sounds promising. yeah apparently theyre heavy because of the gears but i can get one single speeded i guess hmm. winstanleys is the cheapest place ive found for the bikes and im in no rush to get it but hmm il have a think.

ive been looking for a bike for a while now and ive just noticed that the MAD Phases have dropped in price on Winstanleys. 1.3 is £160 1.2 is £200 1.1 is £250 ive heard that theyre not great bikes but i dont wanna spend much on my forst bike so i though i could get an opinion from others. i know if i get one of them it wont be the 1.3 as it doesnt have the HS33s that the others do and for an extra £40 i can get the 1.2 which would make it cheaper, and also im guessing its lighter by the description of the frame on the 1.2 compared to the 1.3. i dont wanna buy the 1.1 because its a little more expensive and im trying not to spend too much but as maggies are much better than the standard brakes fitted i thought its worth getting the 1.2 as i would buy them sooner or later anyway. what's other people's opinion of MAD Phases and are they worth the money?

i'd already given them the bike so they could look at it as they said they would see if there was anything they could do and after all of this hassle i'd rather not go and see them again to get the bike back because im not happy with them. the only things worth any money on the bike was the brake pads and the stuff i bought and still have which is the cranks and front wheel

it was a polished turd to be honest and i probably shoulda checked it over before. i tried to get a refund but they came up with every possible excuse to get out of it and also because i didnt decide to ask for a refund until after a month and i couldnt be bothered with the hassle of getting the money back and as i changed some things on the bike before i even found out about other problems my bike had i wouldnt have been able to successfully dispute its so ive lost the money. im now tempted to buy a bike either brand new but as cheap as possible or from a friend or friend of a friend so that they wont try to hide any problems.

i dont think they did. they wanted to so that people couldnt use the place he was buried as a worship place as it could go anywhere in the sea but as he was killed on land i think they have to bury him on land but im not certain. its just what i heard so dont take it as a fact.

thats brilliant! i want some!

i wonder when tensile will realise that their bars are useless...

i was reccommended it by a mate and he told me its a great place to learn more stuff about trials and get cheap parts for bikes
-
Hi im Jake and im yet to get a bike but i was told this is a great place to look for bikes and parts and get any help i need so here i am. I live in a little town called Lowestoft, im 16, at college, and i dont know what else to say... i like listening to music, playing xbox and will hopefully start riding soon when i get a bike. Oh and i have never ridden trials before but it looks fun but i do have a mountain bike which i only ride to and from places and for my paperround so the whole concept of it is pretty new.

im sorry to cause all the hassle guys. i probably shoulda been more clearer but i aint got the best memory in the world and i dont know that much about bikes and parts and i wasnt in the best of moods as you would expect. also im kinda sorry i posted this in the first place as i probably made this worse for not only me but Darryl as well and all i asked him to do was fit a bb and cranks etc. which wasnt possible because of the state of the thread in the frame and he offered me advice which i took as it made sense and i knew he knew what he was on about being a trials rider as well as working in a bike shop and im glad that i had the advice and he had explained why he couldnt fit it. he showed me that there was nothing he could do to fit the bb and that i should contact the seller to get a refund as it wasnt worth getting the bike sorted because of the state of it. he shouldnt have had this hassle as he did nothing wrong and its partially my fault for describing what happened to my bike and so i thought i'd kinda bring this whole topic to an end. ive now given the bike back to the seller and they are giving me a refund when they have the money so that i can start looking for a bike again. not much else to say really and so telling me to replace the frame or get a threadless bb wont make much difference as i dont have the bike any longer. Jake

ive already given the bike back and am waiting for the money. none of the parts were that good on the bike except the brake pads. ive never really ridden a small bike before because i know people that have done bmx and then got into trials and so they were used to the smaller size but ive always ridden mountain bikes as i do a paperround (yes i know its embarassing but finding a higher paid job part time isnt easy especially when i have work from college to do) and so im used to larger bikes. i ridden my mates 20" and i found it alright but it was a little awkward at first but i kinda got used to it. il take whatever comes along at a cheap price and that is fully working, half-decent and not a complete waste of money.

Daryll (smithy83) was good and he showed me exactly what was wrong with the bike and he offered me good advice on the bike and what to do and it has helped me decide that the bike werent great which im glad i took the advice because more and more hidden troubles appeared as i looked and this was before he looked at the bike that the problems kept appearing.
-
yep it was Daryll. well they said they would give me a full refund and take back the bike and try to sort it themselves and theyve actually asked to buy the parts i bought off me for the price i paid for them but i turned it down. i wouldnt have minded if it was just the front wheel as im not likely to need a new front wheel when i buy a new bike but as i got the monty 221 Ti isis cranks for £25 posted which are worth alot i didnt wanna get rid of em as i could make a profit from them from selling if i wanted to but i dont wanna be cheeky and do that and also as they are so good i wouldnt mind putting them on my next bike if i do get a 20".
-
well the old bb he said he couldnt hardly get out and he said it was damaged from the installation of the old bb which the previous owner had put in when he looked at the bike and he said it had been put in at an angle to ruin the thread. thats why i went to the shop i did as the guy that fitted it rides trials and fits and repairs other people i know's trials bikes and theyve never had any problems.
-
the guy that looked at my bike is a trials rider andi have a mate that rides with him sometimes too and he said there was nothing i could do and didnt make me pay anything for the bike and he showed me that the new bb and the old bb wouldnt be able to go back in there any more and he showed me and he could just twist the old bb in by hand but it wouldnt stay in. well ive already taken it to the seller and theyve agreed to refund the money when they get it and there wasnt much on the bike that was salvagable and so i thought rather than having to pay for a new frame and lose out on even more money that i shouldnt have had to pay i would just get a refund.
-
the guy that looked at my bike has said that the only good thing on the bike that looked worth keeping was the brake pads as te rear magura doesnt work properly either and besides i would prefer to get the money back and just get a fully working bike so that i can just start riding without the extra unexpected cost.
-
its the thread on the brake lever (sorry i shoulda said earlier). also the cranks are isis
-
naa they gave it back to me and i then took it to show the people that i bought it off and ive left it with them while they try to find a way of either sorting it or getting the money but this still makes me think what else may be wrong with it that i havent seen yet as on 3 different parts of the bike the thread has been worn and has wrecked it and thats only the parts that ive seen. well i dont know what can be done really as ive asked the guy that looked at my bike and he said there was nothing he could do to fix it because it was that bad and also ive bought the cranks now too and theyre worth alot and are very light and so i dont want to get rid of them.

basically i finally got the parts for the bike and went to my LBS and they said they'd fit it and so i was anxiously awaiting getting my bike back and riding it and i got a phonecall and they said that the last person to have the bike had cross-threaded the BB and that they had tried to fit the new one which didnt work. Then they tried to tap a new thread and nothing they tried would work and he then went on to say that the frame was useless and that no only was that thread useless but the part where the bashplate goes in was useless as that was cross-threaded and so he said im best off to go try to get my money back for the bike because to get a new frame it would cost as much as the bike was worth to fix and therefore it wasnt worth it. i contacted the seller of the bike and they said that they wanted to see it and claim that the damage wasnt there when they got it but his partner said they would try to give us back the money but they have no money and are expecting a baby in the next few days so its understandable that they have no money but i now have no bike as its useless to me so ive got my parts back that i bought and are working and i now need to get the money back and start looking for a new bike. i wouldnt mind getting a 26" next as it would probably fit me better as i am 6' 2" but i dont know now because i've bought a new front wheel thats is great condition and cranks that are in great condition but they are for a 20" so ive got a problem although i could just sell em but after just buying them it seems a bit of a waste. im not too happy after this problem and it has kinda put me off trials alltogether as its so far been alot of hassle but i do wanna do it. guess il hope i get my money back and start looking for another bike. i guess for all people that are looking to buy bikes the moral of this story is if a bike is ridiculously cheap for what it looks then it most likely has something wrong that you cant see and is going to be alot of hassle to solve.

great. ive no longer got a bike and im back to step one again but with £150 less than before
