while we are talking about it what are the tabs for anyway?? i just bought some magura brake clamps a while back and the tabs are new to me since ive never seen them before, but because of them the bolts that came with it arnt long enough to fit all the way through into the frame

If its a magura louise which is what i had once before then there should be a little black rubber seal on the lever, take it off and inside there should be a little allen key nut, just screw it in and that moves the pads closer to the disc. If not just look around there should be a little adjuster somewhere on the brake.

your best of buying a bleeding kit first if you dont have one, they are not that much. and you said the lever comes all the way to the grips, have you ever tried moving the brake pads in a bit?? ive seen someone before thinking they need to bleed when it was the pads

i remember when i put a bit of coke on my front disc pads, the brake was amazing, but the sound it was making was way too loud so had to wash it off so i didnt annoy anyone

echo SL is a great choice but its a bit pricey, so i have got the new 2011 magura hs33 and it works great. And i prefer water over oil in brakes, but make sure to add something to stop it freezing,(i used a bit of vodka ) its bound not to freeze as its coming up to the summer, but its always nice to be prepared.
