that is dam nice man!! im soo jealous!! just curios, are those horizontal dropouts? or is it just luck that you dont need a chain tensioner?? got any vids of it in action yet?
  3. got a bigger picture?? i need a new desktop background.....
  4. yeah i agree, it would be very hard to spray onto just your tyres. And if you were to take them off, its sooo greasy it'd probly drip, or you'd transfer the grease with your hands. maybe it not such a good idea then... :">
  5. i agree theres nothing wrong with him trying it out, all i'm suggesting is a ) it will take more time and effort than you predict.. (and being a student myself understand how little of this we all have) b ) Not meaning to be of offense, but if he hasn't found an existing frame, maybe hes not looked hard enough? But, i could and may well be wrong.... just a suggestion, i'm just casting my opinion of the topic. I also at home have the equipment to make one, but i dont have the faintest of how a welder works, hence my opinion... (Y) edit: and yes, if i learnt to use it now, i probably could become a full time welder at some point in my life too!
  6. i too have an E2, but generally i find that XC / road helmets do sit rather high on your head! its not just you. And as 'aust' said, you need to visit a shop to find the rare one that doesn't! as these guys have been suggesting try out something like a semi MX or maybe even a piss pot? 661 make one for £20, one size fits all.... various colours. hope i am of some help...
  7. i've said this a million times, but as yet, i dont think anyone has tried them, apart from me. I brought these for XC use, as they suggest, i now have 4pairs, and use them for everything! after 1 1/2 yrs, my first pair has a slight hole in the end of the thumb, but thats it. And they're dead cheapo too. hit me (Y)
  8. i'm not sure whether you see how much time and effort you will end up wasting. I'd go back to basics, and just look for a frame that suits you... Making a frame, when your not even familiar with DIY techniques, could lead to a lot of trouble. You will never get the right weight to strength ratio, and i can garentee (sp?) that you'll end up making more than one frame. Personally i dont see the point, sorry to be a bit pessimistic. But there are plenty of frames about, i'm sure theres one for you. Your building a frame idea is kinda like me saying i'm going to rebuild my engine, only i dont know why theres oil in it. Get my drift?
  9. i would seriously recommend a giant... i slapped on some 80mm bombers for a joke, and i've never looked back! its brilliant, and with a slightly higher gear i'd be happy to use it for jumping... check it out.... (Y)
  10. what about car tyre blackener? usually comes in a spray, not sure whether it would contaminate your rim though! it'lll make the black bits even blacker too, and makes the tyres a little bit more water resistant, whereby waterand dirt will fall off easier. Lasts quite some time! The only downside to it, as far as i'm aware is it makes the tyre slightly greasy.... (Y)
  11. pretty sweet vid (the second one - apart.mpg) and the site is pretty neat too. one of the few vids i actually wacthed all the way through as aposed to flicking though it. everything (sound, editing etc) all fits together really well cheers andy
  12. i see your idea, but, the guy at the garage recomended a new one, or second hand engine. "the car is in very good condition except the engine" apparently. And the problem with a rebuild is i'm not up for doing it myself, and labour would cost near £500 + price of parts. He said its about 200 squids for a an enigne swap, so if i get one from ebay or whatever, could work out alot cheaper.... so here comes a 2nd engine! (Y)

in answer to my own problem, just incase anyone else finds this, its is because i was using firefox!! IE will let you add photos, as more features appear! silly me :"> anyhoo...
  14. ok if anyone wanted to know..... got it back from the garage after they looked at it today..... i have 2 choices.... a) they rebuild the engine and replace the big end and other bits that are worn! or (Y) i find a new engine and get it slapped in.... bit of a bummer really. But cheers for all the help you guys gave...

yeah i got it, but it wont let me upload any photos.... says to select the default photo album from the list, then choose add, and it goes on, but theres no albums to choose from!!! dammit. anyone else got this problem, or am i being dumb?? in which case i wont mention how muchtime i wasted trying to do it... :">
  16. was downloading, but its going at 8kb/sec on broadband! too slow for me, i'll get it some other time when it's less busy, shall edit when i do.... >_< EDIT: finally got it, took a long time even with broadband!! its pretty cool. music goes well. i enjoyed it. :turned:
  17. just incase you wanted to see it...
  18. it was a private sale, but i go to college with the girl, and our dads roughly know each other. But its not really a dud! its more along the lines of "i shouldn't have driven it with no / very little oil!!" i phoned my local garage ( two doors down from me!! thats local!! ) and persuaded them that i need it checked out badly, so instead of waiting for the 5th, i can take it in on monday.... mite even push it there! lol :turned: and im NOT scrapping it! no way, i'll just repair it or use it in its fcuked state! What would actually happen if i continued to use it?? would it just eventually come to a stand still? or is there a chance of a big bang!? cheers mr trials_pimp, as i said earlier, you've been a great help!! >_<
  19. something else i have forgotten to mention.... isnt the cranksshaft to do with moving the actual viehcle? it makes the same noise when in nuetral than it does in gear, so does that make it any different? if not, i do know of a friend that has just writen off his vitara.... so i could steal his engine quite cheaply, is there an awful lot of difference between my 8valve, and his 16v? would it still fit? obviously i'd get a garage to do it..... sorry about all the questions, and i understand you can't give a 100% answer cos you aint seen it.... but your actually of more help than car / suzuki / 4x4 forums i've posted this on!! cheers :) andy
  20. ok, as i said, im no mechanic..... the oil is almost like chocolate.... but i'm guessing it wouldn't taste that nice! Its not deisel! 1.6petrol engine, and the clunkingness is kinda deep, but fast clunking.... if that makes sense..... so what would solve it? new engine? or just like a rebuild or something? big end??? explain....
  21. yo, to all you car know-alls.... i recently brought a suzuki vitara, the day i got it, i ragged it a little, you know testing the speed and offroad ability an all! anyway. sicne then it has developed a leak, oil leak. Which with my limited mechanical ability have worked out to be the oil pump (which pumps oil to the back axle). No problem i thought, keep on driving, and top it up more often than usual. even though there was now a nice clunky noise when i reved it so high (which i just asumed was the lack of oil in the engine!?) Then the other day, i started it to see a nice pretty oil fountain immerge underneath the engine on my dads drive... :"> it was the oil filter, didnt seem to be on properly. So, i brought a new one, replaced it, and brought new oil to fill it all up so the dipstick reading was ok. Should be ok yes?? no, now, the original leak is still there, and i get this really bad clunky noise when i rev it so high, it shakes the whole jeep!! and doesnt sound very healthy. Just today i started it up, works / sound ok till it is reved and i get this clunky engine noise, and i just noticed when this happens a lot of white smoke comes out of the exhaust.....!??!?!?!? I've booked it in for a service, but thats in 2 weeks, so i was just wondering if anyone on here could either say whats wrong?? or direct me to a good car / 4x4 forum, cos i cant find one!! cheers in advance, and sorry for the huge story i just want my jeep to work asap!!! :)
  22. ha, quite a funny story really, bit of an essay though! lol. I dont know why im replying, cos theres not much to say apart from....... i live in guernsey, whereby even if i break down at the furthest away part on the island it will only take me either 45mins to walk home.... or 50p to catch a bus! te he he and we dont have MOT either so there! just be pleased for the few of us that have it easy!! :) :) :) :)"
  23. bit late for breakfast aint it!? lol :D
  24. not at all!! but the way i see it, the school does have something wrong with it. The school rules are there to keep the school tidy and neat. If one pupil (yourself) grows his hair longwer than the rest and sticks extra holes in your ears, then yes, you will look untidy and out of place. No matter how much you like yourself looking like it. the only way your going to get around it, and no doubt it will not happen. is chaneg the rules to "make sure every male pupil grows extra long hair, and have earings of some sort" then, as you would all look the same, it would be neat and tidy!? yes? get my drift? it might seem sexist, but theres f-all you can actually do. so if i were you, either stop being a surfer, and bassist! or put up with the stick! and this is the first i have heard of a connection between a bassist and those tunnel earing jobbies!!! stop being immature and grow up..... and YES you are trying to be different, by argueing! now do your homework :-"
  25. bump, i just need a few more opinions .... . .. :D
