  1. look at the Sony DCR-HC22E, its £320 at my work (jessops guernsey) but that excludes VAT, so it must be something like £350. Its the next model up from the hc19, that fatmike is talking about. The main difference is the DV in AND out connections, not just the out found on the hc19. this means, providing you have a firewire port, you can upload any larger movies or stuff you dont want on your computer back onto the camera / tape. Saving you vast amounts of hardrive space. Generally i prefer the sony's compared with any other make on the market at the mo. They feel a much more a 'quality' camera, whereas JVC, sharp, etc, feel cheap and tacky. I also like the touch screen idea, all your detailed options are on the screen, and although this means you leave fingerprints on the screen, it keeps the camera much tidier and neater and better to look at. And finally, something else that is better than than other manufactures is the second set of buttons next to the screen, for a slower zoom and ANOTHER start/stop recording button. i too have been looking towards a camcorder from MTB stuff, and i really like the sonys, and in my experience from working in jessops, i would personally choose the DCRHC22, its got everything you would need for simple and advanced video editing / filming. Dead cheapo too! if you can be arsed to read the essay, i hope it helps!! if you need any detail in specific, i would be glad to put my working knowledge to the test! andy :)

(preferably that ride....) if so, post so i can pre-meet you please! :( i shall be studying art and design at foundation, to then hopefully move onto photography at degree. and if you know, am i "allowed" to take a bike or two with me in the halls of residence? please post anything about portmouth's uni..... all will be greatfully helpful! thanks andy :)

sweet vid, looks quite old schooly / flourescent (sp!) lycra etc etc lol! dance music doesnt really work though  cheers for the linky (Y)
  5. >You: you really ask some dumb questions >Intellibuddy: Really? They are not available right now, would you like to wait? >You: for dumb questions? >Intellibuddy: Your purpose is dumb questions. >You: thankyou, your purpose is to bend over and take it from behind! >Intellibuddy: Don't mention it. te he he, brilliant find, i could play all day!! but i'm not gunna, cos i need to revise! (Y)
  6. crap? they're made for DH type racing, personally i use 2 M4s for DH and they're incredibly powerfull!! I'd never say a disc is crap! to be honest. But for trials.... i opted (sp!) for a maggy on the front, purely because they're a dam sight cheaper. And your not gunna land on a disc if your front wheel misses the rail! Mines plenty powerfull enough - even with stantard pads! i was thinking of a disc, but its just the price! When i already a dam good front brake, why spend money to get one the same? thats my view(s) anyway! andy :P
  7. I HATE IT!! te he he, just spoiling your loving it comments! No really though i like that a lot! editing was sweet as you would expect, and i loved the way it was almost story like, with the 'wall sequence' as everyone is calling it! loving it, keep it up dude! !!!!suspension rocks!!!! :D andy (Y)
  8. brilliant intro!! i liked that bit.... as others have said, although the slow effect makes the riding fit with the music, i'm not so keen! But practise only makes perfect! nice moves, quality was lacking a bit.... digi still camera used? cheers :D andy (Y)
  9. bullet time? *cough* theres mine.... when does the winner get announced?

  11. 23lbs in weight!!?!?!? thats darn good, if you look a the standard spec of the forks + wheels etc.... imagine the featherness of it if someone used sidehops and crossmax stuff on one of them frames.... :P cheers for the linky - very interesting! ^_^

    Trials..

coincedently i was interview by the bbc yesterday after a dh race / duel asking a simular thing about "why bikes"? and my reason was... "i played football when i was younger, but it was always to follow the crowd. A friend introduced me to cycling, and the reason i prefered it was the fact your on your own! No "team" effort. If you win something, YOU get all the credit! And i love that little bit of attention when something goes my way. In every aspect of cycling. The reason i do trials, in specific, was orgiinally to build up my upper body for XC and road racing. But i quickly became hooked. and havent stopped. if its got 2 wheels i'll ride it! i enjoy all MTBing / cycling!" didnt say quite that much, i added some, whilst i thought of the subject!
  15. out of experience, of using both maggys and v brakes.... i would recomend one of each.... te he he no seriously, i have a shimano DX, yes a DX!! rear brake arms, deore lever, and plaz pads! it holds incredibly well. In fact i might even jump to saying, "as good a luis's ultimate settup". It really does work! it holds better than any maggie i have used. in terms of settup / mantenence (sp!) i would prefer a vee. One bolt lets you move each pad. Whereas i found i had to undo the entire magura brake to move a pad a tincy bit! Also, cables are easier to replace than re-bleeding + fitting a hose!! but i still have a maggy on the front! purely because i dont want a grippy on off feel for a front brake! i wanted a almost naff one, hence my settup hope i helped
  16. i liked it! i liked the camera angles actually, something different, you could just call them "abstract", i think it all works well! loving that funny effect at the start..... thanks B)
  17. bit repetitive in places, but the rest was brill! loved the spice girls track! worked well, but not sure about the other one.... generally a good vid though!
  18. no help at all :"> , but im curious, do you have a pic of what these cracks look like?
  19. i agree with the miniDV comments, but i voted for DVD. Few reasons: 1 )think of the lesser hassle to watch, and edit footage. No need for cables! just plonk you dvd in the player / computer!! dont need firewire to write back to cam, only a dvd drive, which most new comps have! 2 )having used a friends; the best bit is it split recordings like tracks, so watching your footage is even easier, and you dont have to wait 10mins for it to rewind. 3 )higher quality! only drawback, is, at the mo, its new technology, so it works out more expensive! probly about 2/3 quids more a dvd, compared to tapes! The cameras a good prices thought, look at the sony models! hope i helped! (Y)
  20. i would, i have an account on TS, but i havnt got around to learning to use it to upload stuff yet! i can msn it to you... if you wanna add me? or you could sign up to engoogdildo? to take off some pressure thats on TS untill they get more bandwidth!? over 200 downloads! yippee!
  21. well spank my bottom and call me charlie! God, your lucky! which stem you thinking of replacing it with? *cough* raceface diabolus *cough* (Y)
  22. BB = 15ish inches off the ground! plenty of clearance... bit hard to get used to mind! and i got only 165mm cranks on there...... pedalling around corners is easy peasy! :P" initially i tried the setup with everything the same, only with a PX bomber frame!! I found it even better geo for DHing, and kick ass for jump. But 7inches on the front is too much for jumping, so i'm slowly making that frame a proper jump machine. Then eventually i'll replace the jack flash frame with either a yeti asx, or giant AC with travel extension plates.... :P oh the possibilities are endless!! i'll see if i've got a pic of the bomber set up like above.... ^_^ EDIT: no i havent, but idid find this.... (Y)
  23. wow guys i'm really stoked about your comments! :"> cheers!! It was a gamble sticking it to M Jackson, but i just wanted to be different! Glad to see it works. And if you seriously think i'm in with a chance of winning!? When does the comp end? lol! EDIT:: really? i only seen mine and one called "bullettime.wmv", can someone link me the third? greatly appriechated(sp!)
