  1. can you expalin further? do you mean the axle flexes eonugh to make each pawl carry the same load?
  2. just a thought, but you know the whole hopes have 3 pawls engaging at the same time thing?, well do they actaully??, i mean do all three pawls engage at precisely the same time applying exactly the smae amount of pressure on each pawl? it strook me a while back when i listened very closely to my hope hub as i slowly turned the freewheel in my hand that there are 3 seperate smaller clicks to each major click. so was my hope hub just really running on the first click and usins the second and maybe third as a backup? i know theres a whole loads of axle bending jibber jabber that i havent really looked into but in a strange way, thats fiarly worrying.
  3. wouldnt you have to move the wheel to change gear anyway. making it stupidly fiddly and annoying. bit of an arseache for trials, nice idea though.
  4. Just wana say that the new heatsink v-pads work incredibly well on my rhytno lite 24" rim (slightly polished) so if you cant afford v-flys then they are definately another option. as far as gyros go i LOVE my back brake now i put a dragonfly top cable/s on. another great, cheaper option to a better brake. brake setup - tektro shorty lever dragonfly uppers twin lowers (trx24 style) standard odyssey gyro diatech hombre arms heatsink v-pads. feels silky smooth and i cat TRUST it :P
  5. get heatsink v-pads. been running them for a couple of weeks now and they work awesome on my vegas TRX24. i got them on a diatech hombre, tektro shorty lever, dragonfly uppers and split lowers (trx style :P ) with gyro (obv) all on a rhyno lite 24 (with a little polish) works like a dream :P
  6. ok. so being and EX trials rider now, this doesnt really fit in that well to the review section. however, i just wana give some of you wallride and manual masters as glimpse of how these pads worked for me :P Pads: Heatsink vee's Time used: 3 4to5 hour sessions (Street and Park) Rim used: Rhino Lite 24 Grind: Nope (small amount of pollish) Ceraminc: nah Brake used: diatech hombre u (with gyro) and tektro shorty lever What is your opinion of a working brake: a brake that feels sharp at the lever and grips when i need it. must not be too grippy though (obv for manuals etc) How do they compare to previous pads you have used: when i first put these pads on i was quite suprised in both ways. 1 because the lever felt just as sharp as the hombre green pads i was useing before (which are much harder compound than these) and 2 because i didnt really notice much differene in braking performance. i did, however, notice that my brake uttered a small 'eek' as it locked so i decided to leave them on. after riding my local park for about 2 hours performing lots of manuals and stals to 'bed' the pads in further i was stunned. the pads provided me with incredible stopping power when i needed it on a completely smooth rim. they also kept quiet as a mouse when i aplied pressure while manualing which is exactly what i was looking for. after riding for around 12 hours the pads are nicely bedded in and offer me maximum security and little to no pad wear. all i can say is thank you heatsink! (well worth the wait :P )
  7. find a little bit of ground where you are wanting to take off for the wall ride and focus on it. if you make sure you hit that bit every time then it gives you bags more confidence. its all in your head like - but it works wonders. also, as others have said, go more 'at' the wall instead of along side it. hope this helps.
  8. or it could be that the lever blade on the old skool levers were longer giving them more leverage. more leverage = more power. (like kurt brain welding 2 leverblades together to extend it)
  9. your darn tutin' marko! i remeber that beast
