  1. I've been to see Gav & family this morning. He's in a very bad way. However we all need to pray and have hope. The dude is a warrior and if anyone can pull through then Gav can. I've been riding road with him lately and trust me the guy is as tough as they come.
  2. Where you at with the build man? I might be able to help - i've got a few bits stored away. Martyn
  3. The Effect is being released. DB are behind the project 100% Look guys, I'm sorry that you are waiting. I'm deserate to get bikes out too, and they will be available very soon. We have had a delay due to exchange rate/price change in the far east etc. The details will be on the site ASAP. Thanks for your interest in the bike, it really is appreciated. Martyn
  4. Hello All, Just wanted to let everyone know that Rowan's new vid is up on www.teamashton.co.uk (Rowan 2008 Video 4). I have to say, it's bloody good. Rowan has been working really hard for Team Ashton this year and has already released 3 other awesome videos this year, including footage of Sam Pilgrim winning at the London Qashquai Final, Ben Savage on comp duty and the original Rowan vid. Check it out, we guarentee you'll be itching to get out on your bike once you've watched it. Cheers, Team Ashton
  5. Hello all, Team Ashton would like to make all Trials Forum members aware of our new 'Live' competitions on www.teamashton.co.uk 'Live' Competitions run under a few different formats. At the moment there is £100 box of goodies available for the best 'Balance' picture recieved by 12am 22nd July. The last comp was for a MET Kaos Helmet awarded for the first correct answer to a stupidly easy question. The idea is to create regular site visits and keep you updated with what Team Ashton Diamondback is up too; plus you can win cool stuff (not a bad deal really). Because we support Trials riders on our Team (Ben Savage, Rowan Johns, Martyn Ashton) we will have great Trials products up for grabs; these prizes should interest everyone on here. As mentioned the formats change and timimg of comps is random, keeping everyone on their toes (and fitting with busy Team schedules). Other prizes planned for 2008 include product from MET, Hope, Diamondback, SRAM, Animal, Trialtech, Tartybikes, TSG and even a full Team Ashton Diamondback bike towards the end of 2008. We wanted to give our fellow Trials riders a 'heads up'. I hope this is useful info and everyone takes time to enter over the year. Happy Riding, Team Ashton www.teamashton.co.uk PS: We are looking for a new 2009 Team member. If your interested and can show us you have what it takes to go Pro then contact us at jointeamashton@btinternet.com This oppertunity is open to anyone, Him or Her who feels they can represent Team Ashton Diamondback in a positive manner. Either through results, demos, photos, vids or maybe something we haven't thought of?
  6. I agree with Dave. You could of had the 'who's who' of International Trials, it really wouldn't of made any difference. At an event like this the course must be the Star of the show, not the riders. From what i heard, some great riding went down, just sounds like hardly anybody got to see it? Giles and team had a go, did the best with what they had. I can't really think of what i would of done to improve the situation. Hopefully the event gets another shot in 08. Martyn
  7. Hi, Seems the budget is being blamed for the Line-up and format. To this point i have never recieved a fee for 'riding' at the BIKE show, nor has any other Trials rider that i know of. Myself and Martin obviously recieved a fee for feature management but that just covered our days working on the build, same as any other contractor. This format cannot be simply blamed on budget. Martyn
  8. Some more background information: The BIKE show was originally owned by Future Publishing (MBUK and others) and run by their events Team. The last few years the event was owned by Haymarket Exhibitions who in late 2005 decided not to run the show in 2006 (the end thus far of 'The BIKE Show'). The guys behind NASS took the oppertunity to book the 07 date with a similar name at the NEC at that time. I was approached by The National Bike Show to run the Trials feature but after those initial site visits was told that Giles would be running it instead. I presume from what Giles has posted that my format was not suitable, if offered those time constraints i would of walked away. I also presume that Giles was told i was on board from the start as i would be very surprised and disapointed if he would wish to decieve knowledgeable trials supporters by promoting an event with names he had not confirmed, that would be very naughty wouldn't it At the time i was moved off the project i had confirmation from Kenny Balaey that he was coming, after informing him of the change of feature manager he removed his commitment. I would also be quite confidant in securing the following list as they are friends who have enjoyed good times at the event in the past: Chris Akrigg Vincent Hermance Ben Savage Chris Doney Neil Tunnercliffe Wayne Mohamet Martin Hawyes Ali C Myself I had penciled in approaching the following riders who haven't previously appeared. James Porter Danny Mac (big fan) probably a few others but 14/15 would of been my limit. I am (clearly) gutted not to be involved as i truly believe i could of run a great feature this year, i think we have all missed out on the feature we deserved. I've also worked very hard on my riding over the winter; a show on that date is always perfect to try and pull new stuff out the hat. It would of been 'Death or Glory' from me thats for sure (foot jam whip 360 drop, Flair, flip drop). All that said; lets all go and support as thats what any UK bike event needs, hopefully see some of you there? Laters, Martyn
  9. Sorry, i think i have made it read like i am seeking an invite; I'm not and don't want one. I just want to make sure there is no promotion for the Trials feature of this event with incorrect information about me. Thanks for the props though, see you in the crowd. Martyn.
  10. Hi, Just want to clear something up. There has been some mis-leading info posted about the 'Official' line up at The National Bike Show. Just so it is clear; I have not been approached by the Trials feature manager to appear at the event and will not be riding. Martyn Ashton From Best Rider topic 'At 'THE BIKE SHOW' in the past we (Ashton/Hawyes) have always tried to represent 'Trials' as best we could. I initially asked to be involved with 'The National Bike Show' but after a few site visits was told that Giles would be running the Trials feature? I have not been approached by Giles too ride at the show and don't appreciatte the use of my name in an 'official' list when i have not been asked to ride. So if you are interested in the line up; please go ahead and mentally delete my name from the 'Official' list as i am nothing to do with it. Martyn'

  12. Yo! Happy New Year to you all. 07 Justice frames will be here for Febuary (hopefully). New year, new graphics, the frame design is basically the same but with slight tweaks in Geometry, the aim; to enhance the distinctive feel of last years bike. Also waiting on some prototypes at the moment (Ali and Gav will be testing these, so pester them for test rides as i would love as much feed back as possible). These Prototypes are longer versions of the existing Justice, both Gav and Ali requested longer frames for comps. These bikes are unlikely to ever reach production in the present design but the positive aspects (hopefully all) will go into a completely new design that i am working on at the moment. Testing has recently started on the new 24, it's amazing fun and i can't wait to release that bike, we plan for a complete build bike to be available for October 07, also a complete Justice at this time as well. Website will be up very soon (i have said that before) actually think it will be soon this time though, probably because i'm not building it... Any feed back or ideas then let me, Ali or Gav know about it. Cheers, Martyn.
  13. Ryan Leach Lenosky Jordi Tarres Cesar Canas Chris Akrigg Libor Karas Rob Warner Hans Darren Bearclaw Ed Tongue Ot Alfie Kurt Brain Thierry Girrard (Sunn) Dougie Steve Peat Lisa (on a Duke) Rossi (giving Lisa tips on cornering) Chopper Diego Bosis Eddy Lejune (Honda TL360 Twin Shock) Chris Smith Petr Kraus LL Cool J (for Lisa) Horsey Amos Bilbao Evel Knievel (in Snake River Canyon kit and Sky Cycle. Launch him like a Firework as a Finale) All doing what they want at a dream venue that could accomodate all. Wow! Martyn. Ooops Forgot: Matt Hoffman Jay Mirron Guetler Gavin (to annoy Horsey) Steve Murrey Dennis McCoy Mark Webb and Ali C.
  14. I honestly believe you should get an Ashton. Martyn.
  15. Along the lines of the ET. Martyn.
  16. Yo! Hows everybody? Just so everyone is clear about the Raid XR: This bike is centred around my fond memories of bashing about on a Raliegh Burner. I had great times on my BMX and this is my first attempt to create an affordable bike that won't be 'pigeon holed' into any category or discipline. So it is our entry level "do whatever you like bike". Raid XR is not a Trials bike, our Trials frames are in the final stages of design at the moment. They include a very slightly tweaked Justice and a completely new 24 Street bike called 'License'. As soon as the site is finnished we will put drawings and images up. Regarding James; I would rather lose a rider than a friend. He has had loads of stuff going on including moving to a totally new area. In a nut shell, he wasn't having a good time and pressure from me isn't going to help right now. James is seventeen and should be having fun on his bike not stressing over it. So after a minor blow-out we chatted and decided to just give him some time to chill-out and do whatever he liked, find the fun again. He has our complete support whilst riding for anyone else, especially Select (which Is a good shop), Phil has really looked after James in the past, sure that will be the case in the future. Laters, Martyn.
  17. I just read waynios post! I have now changed my mind, MBUK is bullshit. Where can i get some Addidas trackies, i will print Animal on them, Yeah. Honestly Wayne can you stop reading this pissing forum and finnish the Vitt interview please?? Now your texting me??? Jesus get on with it. If any one is unhappy with the Mag for a good reason (not just being retarded) or possibly has a genuine suggestion about what we could/should do then let me know. Although if it is showing another shot of Akers doing some crap bunny hop then you can forget it, it's all he can do (brilliant, can't answer me back "i don't do forums" Noir Bitch). Martyn.
  18. Many riders on this very Forum discovered Trials in MBUK, thats what the magazine does, makes people aware of the many ways MTB is great! Along with other dedicated riders i take alot of time trying to get Trials featured in this amazing magazine, where as you have chosen to use very little time to paint a negative opinion over one of the best things Trials has going for it, an element of our sport that is not influanced by Politics, and produced by people who love bike riding. Last month i recieved an email from Ot Pi congratulating the "Trials Crew" of the mag on making a huge contribution to the Trials World. Although you disagree? I will use this oppertunity to thank the following people; Chris Ratcliffe, Chris Akrigg, Robin, Karinna,Waynio (especially), Ben, Fred, Andrew Dawson, Tarty(who also advertise in MBUK, sure they will be really chuffed with your comments, Not), Hawziee, Chris Poiser (advertiser!), Frazer (Advertiser), Danny Holroyd, Orange (also advertisers, so thanks again), Select, Barbera, CLS, Neil Tunni (re send your new Mobile Number), Porter, Danny Butler, Chris Doney, Giles. Please read that list and realise that you have just insulted every single one of them. Your sport survives on the work and money of these people, as a rider of a small and struggling discipline i see it as your bloody duty to buy MBUK, you will probably laugh and joke this away "water off a Dicks back" however we will all continue to work very hard on something we believe in. As for negative comments about the Column, i would say that is probably justified, although i maintain that Track suit bottoms are Gay! Martyn.
  19. 1987 on a modified Raliegh Burner (bash plate welded to the bottom). Martyn.
  20. Not sure my opinion really counts? Just wanted it clear i saw it before Wayne. Ha Ha
  21. Good to see some more 24s making an appearance, good luck with it guys. For any one who is interested, the evolution of the Ashton ET will be released later in 2006 as a complete bike. We are currently looking for a man/woman to sit on it (other than ET himself). Martyn. PS; Just had a txt from Akrigg saying Porter got bolloxed last night and was sick 100 times, sounds like a good trip.
  22. Hi Paul, Wow i started writing and suddenley realised (just in time) that i was about to piss some people off. Better i keep my opinions to myself. Next time i see you we can chat about it then. You riding much? Come down Portcawl and we can go for a ride. Take it easy, Martyn.
