Im old skool aswell, cheap frame, cheap forks, racelines and 521 rims, must be about 15 years old but still works a treat, old skool all the way!!!!

Hi How do you bleed brakes without having to buy the bleed kit, im sure people have mentioned a bathing method. If so can anybody explain how to do this or if anybody knows of another way then please let me know. Thanks

Hi May seem a daft question but ive just read that you can use water instead of oil for the brakes, has anybody ever done this and does it actually work, other point aswell, if you are to use water what is to stop the inside of the brakes corroding with the insertion of oxygenated water. Can anybody advise or if they use anything other than water and oil. thanks

I managed to find a pair of long bmx forks which were cheap and surprisingly light, i know everybody seems to rave on about expensive stuff but you dont have to spend load to have a good bike, my current bike is made up of parts which have lasted over 12 years and still havnt let me down. Maybe not as light as some of the other bikes but i carnt complain and they have managed to withstand some high drop-offs over the years and still in tip-top condition. rant over!!

Well thats cleared that up then, i did presume that they were hydrolic but was struggling to understand the differance in price. Thanks for responding

Hi Im looking at getting some maguras and ive found a pair of magura hs33 black for around £80 new and was wondering what the differance is between these and racelines as even on ebay these are selling for a similar price considering the fact they are up to 10 years old. Is it that the hs33 black are cable as opposed to hydrolic? If anybody uses these could you please advise. They are listed as magura hs33 black and also white. Thanks

Thanks everybody for your imput, i have ground both my rims as they had never been done and il prob go with the maguras as they are being sold for peanuts, if they prove no better I will sling the old faithfulls back on. Thanks

Hi, May seem a daft question but is their a noticable differance between maguras and v brakes? I have toyed with the idea of upgrading my brakes for years and only now am I considering it, my bike is made up of old parts which have stood the test of time and have never let me down and for my braking i use the old skool trick of using tar for better grip. I would have considered disks but my frame and forks dont have the mounting. Also from maguras to disks how much of a differance to braking are they?? If anybody can advise id be grateful as im about to purchase these maguras tomorrow. Thanks
