  1. Have you looked at the old Montys that are around everywhere? Super good deals all over the place, they're heavy but the best possible bike to start on, at least in my opinion. I started on a Monty 219 X-Hydra, then moved to a Monty Alp Magura, now I ride a stock.
  2. FiveTen Freeriders are definitely the best I've felt so far! So grippy and feel amazing!
  3. Go for it! A friend of mine uses a QR on the front of his GU, feels amazing!
  4. Hey all. I'm a pretty inexperienced rider, but I want to learn about what trials used to be, and learn the riding style from back then. I'm looking for some of the original riders, people who were riding back in the era of videos like Contact and Revolution, and bike trials in general being what I wish it was now. I'm looking specifically for the people who were riding back then and earlier, because I want to learn about smooth two-wheeled riding, and the riding with the smooth older style, what it takes to do trials on mountain bikes and bikes with old geometry, and old moves that aren't around any more. I recently picked up a 26" frame with older geometry, but I'm still on my pogo stick at the moment as that build isn't done yet, I need to save up for more parts. I would really like to find some of you to talk to about this. If you're reading this and were riding back then and aren't a pogo rider, and might be willing to give me some pointers or coaching, or could point me to someone who would, please let me know. thanks so much, JN
  5. Did a dealer check, none anywhere near me... I live in the woods of nothingness.
  6. Thanks! You might be getting an order in the next few days, not sure.
  7. Ok, thanks. Would you be willing to point me to a link to the proper diaphragm?
  8. Ok. I would let you guys judge what it needs if i were to send it. My goal is to have a very good brake, that doesn't feel like a sponge with a lever. It leaks a lot from the diaphragm as in the first picture I posted in this thread. Also, I think it may leak in the master cylinder piston area, as it makes squelching noises when the lever is pulled. The diaphragm leak is when I pull the lever. Thanks
  9. Yes I could, but I'm pretty much done with this brake mentally, I have probably put close to 30 hours into this thing and it hasn't gotten any better. I would like to send it out and have it dealt with, or get rid of it. What's the fee for tarty doing a full overhall? I looked on their site and couldn't find it, maybe I looked in the wrong place?
  10. My bike's finally working again!!!

  11. It doesn't come out the wrong way at all. Where would you recommend for me? I'm in upstate New York in the United States. Even finding a bike shop is over an hour drive, and there's NO WAY that they service hopes. Do you guys do it there at Tarty? If so, what would the cost be including shipping?
  12. I think the caliper has problems too, not sure.
  13. Turns out it's not mint at all... It's leaked ever since a week after that. When I fix one problem, another arises. I'm pretty much ready to be done with this brake, unless it can really be fixed in a way that it will STAY! Does anyone have any ideas for how to deal with it?

    Seat Angle

Reason? I don't ride with a seat so it isn't really of much concern to me ;p that's definitely true

    Seat Angle

It's much safer riding with the seat tilted WAY forward! My friend is a pro bmx rider and had his seat tilted back. He fell and slid back on the top tube and his tailbone went under the front of the seat. He had many injuries relating to the urinary system, and had to have many surgeries.. Tilt it forward..
  16. My friends with (pure) 24" bikes run 150x30.
  17. Craigjames, no it's not split in line with a spoke hole. And niconj, it didn't break apart at the joint. The joint separated about 5mm, it split on the actual rim. Its definitely beyond hope of repair.
  18. Actually, the joint is the small one, where it split is randomly ripped metal. I was getting the spokes replaced because they were old and kept snapping, it now seems that that was because the rim was flexing or something. And yes, a few(very few I think) grinds.
  19. Hey all, I just thought I'd share. I took my stock Echo TR 26" wheel in to have all the spokes replaced, by a professional wheel builder who I am friends with and fully trust. When he put force into the rear cog (mind you, I was watching from 2 feet away and he barely put any force into it, nothing that should have done the following) the rim completely folded and ripped! I bought the bike used, it's a 2011 or 2012 Echo Pure, but everything has been mint and the bike is in great condition. I only weigh 125lbs (57kg) and I don't know why it did this. Sorry about the dark picture. JN
  20. Got my pure up and runing with the new Neon fork a few weeks ago, feels good. I'm gonna get some new cranks and a 150x30 stem though. Also, Just picked up a very special and rare frame, for a killer deal... I'll share details when it's built, probably a while from now if the funds continue to look like they do now...

  21. The picture says it all... Back when I was riding my mod, I was filming an edit, and met him on a park bench, passed out with his empty liter of vodka... He tried to lift his head and look at me, and said something like "URRRAAAAAAAAA" very quietly, then passed out again. I think he might have been a little bit wasted, dunno... I also get the "Where's the seat" or the "Did someone steal your seat" things all the time as well in the rare times I ride in public.
  22. Cracked the forks on my echo pure, so back on my old monty alp!
