  1. I wouldnt go in the dorms dave, yer you get a nice bed in the warmth etc, but the camping was just awsome with the fire at the rocks with the trees and all the english folk gathering around, awsome, camping for sure. Phil. Don't think so, it's the buthiers in the fontenblau region about 100miles south of paris. Phil. Here is the website of the place for pics and stuff: http://www.base-de-buthiers.com/ Phil.
  2. Yer Sorry i meant a pair of 36gb WD raptor SATA 150 drives in a raid 0 aray £73 a pot haha, awsome. Ive heard of the seagate drives I can get a 300gb for £70, if they are quieter, I'd rather get one of these aslong as they are reliable the graphics card is a 256mb apgx8 nvidia geforce 6800le £112 Another thing I was reading about is SLI and crossfire,, maybe I can save money by getting 2 smaller cards which said "magazine" will be 60% better perfomance than a single card. I dunno. I may aswell put a decent card in it as I may need it in the future if I want to do anything else on the computer. I was certainly considering 2 screens as that would help a lot, but looking at a 19" lcd monitor which is a true 19" That will be quite large, get it on a pretty high resolution I expect it to be ok I am using a 17" which is aactually 15" to do all my editing on and have been for a long time, yep it's cramped, but I think 19" would make it a lot easier, well it will save spending another £240 on another screen unless I use the 17" CRT monitor aswell or I choose to buy another monitor in the future. What I meant with the 2 dvd re-writers was if I burn a dvd once from my computer (like a master copy) then I want to make duplicate copies of the DVD I made will it be better straight from the dvd to dvd or just carry on making copies from the computer to the DVD copier Any input on linking 2 screeens together, do I need any extra hardware? Thanks Tomm, ur a legend. Phil.
  3. Excellent mate, I have been looking into it today, AMD 64 X2 4200+, I'm going to run raid 0 array, one 74gb WD running at 10,000rpm and a 300gb @ 7,000rpm for data as I will need a lot of space, Ive been told it will run 600times faster at times in raid 0 for the programs so the compressioning and encoding etc will be rapid. Graphics card was an Nvidia 6800 3d cmos or something like that, seems really good but not the best, but I doubt I will need the best especially from what you guys said. For the monitor, Ive got lots of CRT monitors knocking about "Sun" monitors converted to run with the cards/pcs, 20" (17") and using now 17 (15.5") but I am looking at lcd monitors with dvi output, for £240 I can get a 19" with 4ms speed, good candle power and contrast, Although it's Samsung, I hope that would be ok, so I'm leaning towards that. Memory wise I'm just looking at 1gp for £40 seems ok, and if I need any more I can always get some, unless you guys think I may aswell get x2 1gb straight away, or can I put 4 512kbs as you say it will be faster? DVD copier is some Black NEC model, seems like it's had good reviews for reliability too, I'm not sure if I need 1 or 2 dvd copiers though, can't decide, to make duplicate copies is it better to copy from dvd to dvd or just keep running from the pc. Cooling, I'm not too sure about that yet, you say about the jet cooling water stuff, is that expensive, and is it really needed, doesnt the dual core proccessors have less chance of overheating while being much faster? Ive been told I can just put a few fans around the case too to help out. I have no idea how water cooling would work, it sounds expensive, a couple of quiet fans shold be ok shouldnt it, especially as these Western digital HD are maga quiet "aparently" Ive just been reading a lot of reviews and mags and stuff, thats what ive come up with. Tell me if you think anything is wrong or if I can do anything better, thanks. Phil.
  4. Single speed is fine mate from what happened last year. They where not too bothered, it's not a world round thing, it's like a big fun trial. Phil.
  5. like spacemunkee said you he got 92 channels on his sony box, this sounds as if you get more channels with the sony box, or is it just a load more radio stations. So the quality thing sounds good anyway, didn't realise it was that much better. Phil.
  6. Well Im not talking about the old pixie boots, but the new monty shoes, the soles are the same and they are stitched by the same people, so I'm trying to say the ribos and the monty shoes would probably last a very similar length of time.
  7. nah no paying for camping last year, I dont even think it was allowed by the owners but koxx guy just said put it up where not everyone will see, it was off peak so nobody else was there anyway. Koxx camp is not actualy camping in a tent, but like lots of dorms with bunk beds, I think it included evening meals too in the price, worth it if you want a proper bed and you could have a good time inside. Ye you have to book the koxx "camp/dorms" FAST Phil.
  8. This may amaze some people. but I had try-alls for 15-16 months i think it was, and all that was wrong with them was the sole had worn down and in the end got a small slit in the bottom. The Yik shoes are re-designed me and porter will be getting some to test to see if they are good enough to sell otherwise they won't be sold, so hopefully they should be good and we can put some good input into them. Ribos and monty are basically the same, made by the same hands and have the same soles, except ribos I would say are better with the strap and plastic bits situated in good places, although i think they take a very long time to bed in. Phil.
  9. The complete set 2 downtube stickers, 2 toptube stickers and 2 seatstay stickers are only £8 you know
  10. yer you defo want to use pal cos with NTSC you dont get as many lines of resolution. I told him to use the Broadband PAL 700kbps setting then edit that setting and change it to 1100kbps and decresae the sound quality that will give you the best settings. but I dont think he could manage that he's too ginger and stupid, haha Phil.
  11. Do they actually increase the quality at all or does it just convert the analogue to digital just so you can basically get the programs on say cable digital. Where can you get that NTL chip thing for £150 and what channels does it have, to the "gears" bloke, thanks. Also, do all the freeview boxes have the same channels or do the better ones have more channels? Just like analogue TV because of the reception, does each channel have a similar quality instead of one being good and some being rubbish, you know how it is. thanks to the peeps that have them. phil.
  12. You need to check to see if it's available go to http://www.domain.com search for it, and follow the steps if you want to buy it. phil.
  13. 1. will the freewheel still b at cranks (stupid i know as im pretty sure it will but just want to clear up) Yes it will be unless you use a cassette hub like a profile, where you would replace the freewheel with a fixed cog. 2. how do the echo bb (isis) work as i heard they are hard to fit (diagrams appreciated) Hnmmm ok, basically you use the echo tool to screw one side in, then push the axle into the cup you have just screwed into the frame, then put the other cup in, the tool is very good and would say it's impossible to slip off, then just tighten. BUT if you are running a front freewheel you cannot use the cnc echo freewheel as there is not enough space for the front freewheel, you would have to run a normal BB where the bearings are inside the frame, echo do make BBs for front freewheel now, these should be available soon and available in gold now. 3.balance - really hard with only a ring and no plate or not as bad as you would expect? Being a 26" rider, Ive been using a ring for years, there isnt really much of a problem especially once you get used to it, as you end up leaning on your cranks just as much to keep your balence, although don't expect to be bashgaurding rails or pointy rocks haha you will just trap your chain and kill it. 4.will a wider bash ring help if so what are the widest you can get? It will not really make much difference, I think one of the best bashrings out are middleburn, but that woun't fit your cranks, just a normal echo bashring is fairly good width, not too thin so it's strong enough, and not stupidly wide, BT bashrings seem rather wide. 5.someone said the gu needs a long bb is the echo one long enough? The echo BBs are long enough, although question 2 explains the situation with the freewheel not fitting with a CNC echo BB if you are using a front freewheel. 6.am i more likely to dent the downtube as i have no bashplate? ie falling onto it or something? if so is it worth getting an armadillo? I don't think there is any more chance at all of doing this when you land on your bashring because of the angle of your bike you will stay on the ring, you wouldnt land at the front of your bashring and if you do you will hit the downtube but you would have done the same with a bashplate anyway, downtube protectors can always be good to use to help keep a good warrenty and if you ever want to sell it. 7.will it half to be an echo bashring on the echo cranks? Echo bashrings use echo cranks, there are many bashrings that won't fit but from what i know echo, zoo or BT bashrings will fit, I don't think any kind of tensile will fit. Phil.
  14. Thats awsome Krisboats, thanks for the time yu spent, have of that spec is starting to ring a bell now. I'll probably spend about £1000 on it all, although I would spend more to make it as I wanted it instead of making cutbacks, then it wouldnt be worth it. thanks. Bongo, ur mad haha, I'll stick with ma atarei Phil.
  15. There is no such thing as GU pads. Phil.
  16. Aghhh rite, thats why it looks different it was both wheels, haha, It looked like one, I'd say 2 wheels was harder than backwheel only though. Awsome. Phil.

The website is great, a lot of writing and work gone into that, I like. Downloading the video now at 30kb/sec should be amazing. Phil.
  18. After reading through this topic, just to clear a few things up. Any sets of 4-bolt mounts come packaged with the same size bolts in the packs, we don't have different lengths of bolts they are already in a bag, so there is no bigger or smaller bolts unless you buy a booster but then they are far too long. If the holes in the mounts on the frame are not long enough, the bolts should not have been tightened as they are not clamping onto the mounts itself. If it was yourself that phoned me today, I have said I will helicoil the threads properly, I have done this numerous amounts of times, the threads will be stronger than before so in a way it is better. Echo would never give a new frame for the threads being stripped as the holes are slightly too short, again they will reccommend helicoils, as this is simple way to solve the problem. If you think this is a problem with echo, it cannot be just selectbikes with the problem, it must be all over the world, many hundreds are sold with very little problems. The day we receive the frame back it will be done and sent out again same day 24 hour delivery no charge. Phil.
  19. That's brill, thanks for the advice guys, I'll look into all that Phil.

just another excuse for presents I think
  21. Love it. That was the strangest downside tyre tap Ive ever seen from Shrewsbury, wicked though, good height. Waynes sidehops are daft now, although ive never seen him do it like he did in that video, odd. Phil.
  22. http://www.cyclesurgery.com/ProductDetails...d5-088f0e27fc69 You want that, the neil pryde bag is amazing, it's quite cheap there too, there is padding all over, a solid base, wheels, good handling straps, wheel bags, pockets, and strong stitching, the wheels are needed it makes life so much easier, so i'd recommend getting wheels on your bike bag. Phil.
  23. Thats only if you are renting a car, if you have a full licence in england you can drive in france no problem, Insurance is a bit extra but not much, although many already have it on the policy as an excuse to make it more expensive when many people don't even know it's there. The level of competition is quite silly really, Master/elite at koxx days is very hard harder than in england club comps and nationals I think even then Kenny finished on 1 and vince on 2, expert is harder than in the UK too. So me and dave will be going in my spaceship so far, porter who you going with as we will have a spare space. If anybody wants proper directions closer to the time or all the other info etc I should be able to help. Ferry is the cheapest, your looking at about £120 a car for the train and about £50 on the ferry so you have 4 people in your car it's pretty cheap, if you book early enough Im sure you can get it very cheap. Petrol isn't over priced and there are plenty of petrol stations, if you have never driven in France on the way down there in some areas you are aloud to do 80-90mph I can't remember exactly but it's faster than england although it was in Kph, it's just when you hit Outskirts of Paris it could be murder, it was for us on the way back although we where riding in paris and took about 1.5 to get out of the city, insane, the driving is crazy, I know my way about the city a bit now though Phil.
  24. OK any help would be great. I am after building a computer to a very high spec, my dad is up to date with a lot of stuff and knows how to put it al together etc, but i'm sure there are people on here who know a lot more. I'm basically after a computer for video editing, so it wants to be fast, large disc space, capable of running large programs at the same time without any effect, then there is obviously good video cards advice etc. My dad is going on about sata rav 0 2 3 stuff with the hard drives?? then there is the cooling, so, very fast, lot of memory, big hard drives, fast fast fast, the main thing is getting it all to work together without it being un stable because I could go out and buy all sorts of stuff but it might not work best together. Budget isn't stupidly high so reasonably priced stuff, I'm not going to spend £200 a graphics card etc. Also, anyone know when windows vista is out? thanks folks. Phil.
  25. Porter will be there, he lives in bristol so it's easy for him
