Any Riders In The Lincolnshire Area?
Luke Drewery replied to ashby-trials's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Well you said you ride on Wednesday and Thursday nights after school, so I was going to text you when your not at school, and when I can ride... Im off to Wath this Saturday, so I cant come out then...Sunday? -
Not bad Matt, but I know you are loads better than what most of that video showed. Some big wheelswaps in there, I see you have nearly got them dialled after doing your first one in Scunny. Fair play though, overall a good first video, with some good riding although I know you can go bigger.

That video was so enjoyable I put it on the Shack; Clickety click Seriously impressive stuff, some huge riding as always, and you have a much nicer style than most riders who go huge. Luke

--> QUOTE(joe b @ Jun 28 2006, 08:35 PM) ←Nice vid, mate. You really can edit videos to Oasis songs . The riding was awesome, some really technical stuff coming from Christof and Bill . And that drop gap they did, too... That looked huge!!! Again, nice video. Definately a keeper. Cheers, Joe. Yeah I realise a few of my videos have Oasis songs in them, but thats beacuse I found their albums lying around and I dont have much other music to hand. Dont have a music download program and I never buy albums so yeah... Thanks for the comments guys, more please.

Whos Jumped On The Photography Bandwagon Recently?
Luke Drewery replied to Davetrials's topic in Chit Chat
I got into making videos around Christmas time, and photography followed it really, I used to just take out a little olympus compact digi cam and I got some half decent photos with it, but nothing good really. Now Im using a Minolta 5000 SLR camera, got some decent stuff with it such as a macro lens, slave flash etc and I have taken some good pictures, which I save in my portfolio album. I have been using it for a while and I have spent too much on getting photos developed. :$ Happy with the results though, got some nice arty natural, urban, landscape, riding and water shots to be going on with. I enjoy just going out for a walk/bike ride (not on a trials bike lol) and taking some pictures. -
Cheers Bill, yeah I think everyone who lives in a small town feels bored after riding there for so long.

Mint video, love the mixture of big tricks and techy street style. Oh and manuals to hooks, original and very impressive. Overall a refreshing and inspiring video.
-
Yeah got quite a bit of footage, didnt think the video would be any longer than 2 mins though. Cheers for the comments.

Longer cranks will help a little, I have tried shorter cranks (165-170mm) on my stock and they do feel too spinny (wont be as bad on mod), so when you set off the crank arm spins too far round and your technique has to change to suit. I have been running 175mm cranks for about 2 years now and they are just right, like people have said I think its all personal preference though, as all trials bikes are setup individually after all.

Yeah it has a few fun spots like signhills (place with all the little walls) but they do get boring after so many rides, still like riding there though. Thanks for the comments, a few more would be nice.

We had a decent little ride in Cleethorpes yesterday, and I got some footage from it. The riding is mainly Chris G and Billocks as me and James did the filming. Download below; tv.isg.si-Filename is 'Cleggy ride' 4 mins, 48mb, mpg. Comments welcome.

Get the 185mm Avid, or even the 160mm, it doesnt matter about rotor size so much with this brake, its mint! I have had my Avid for over a year now, with the SAME set of brake pads, the same cheapo cable and the same XTR lever and the performance has been constantly impressive. I weigh about 13 stone and it holds me with ease, everyone who has had a go on my Avid agrees that its an amazing brake. I have never serviced it, only the odd wd40 top up round the moving parts (dont get it on the rotor though) and one pad clean a month or so after I first got it, its basically maintenance free, unlike the hopes. You already have the cable and lever so go for the Avid. To sum it up, the Avid is much cheaper, on par of not better than (it is in my opinion) power wise than the hope, more reliably, and in less need of maintenance. Its funny seeing my BMX mates too, who think that mechanical discs cant be good because their only experience of them is on those crappy budget mountain bikes, so they have a go and go flying over the bars!

Mint video right there, I love how well you edit you videos and how they always seem to express your riding perfectly. Some nice thoughts on our sport there, I agree that its a form of art; we look at the world in a way which nobody else does i.e. a bench is not for sitting on, but for riding on or a wall is no longer a boring object that nobody thinks about, it becomes something that a trials rider can session for hours and not become bored. The streets are no longer boring, but exciting. We all express ourselves through our choice of riding, style, the way we sidehop, backwheel, gap etc is all individual to us, we do it how we want to and show it to others. Keep the videos, and portrayal of our sport up.

I know what you mean, I have messed about with photography for a while now with a digital camera, and the results werent anything that special. However, the photography course I am starting at college in September requires that we use 35mm cameras, so I took my dads old skool Minolta 5000 out today, its a tidy camera too, used to be one of the best cameras in the consumer market, still good today. He bought a tele macro lens with it too, and a flashgun and I had some fun with it. So much easier to take shots with and much more fun to use. The only downside is I cant use photoshop to tweak the photos but as people have said you become a better photographer by using 35mm cameras as you only have limited shots to get the picture how you want on your mind, and you cant see the photo until after it has been developed.

I like that, I think the green looks good. I am not a fan of magura discs though, and as mentioned I think you should change the forks.

Nah must have been Luke J then, whats Brigg like to ride? -
Yeah watched this earlier and its mint, I love watching competition footage as it shows the very best riders in our sport riding at their best. It also shows trials as it really should be ridden.

Oh yeah good ol' Timberlands, with the Chinese supermarket thingy. Theres a nice drop gap there from the top wall down to the smaller one, and that wall round the back is nice for hooks. Did dank used to have a levelboss? If so I think I have seen him before once. PS Check out my videos from around Scunthorpe/Cleethorpes here; My latest video (Drewery-swing swing)-Here Drewery-Supersonic (bit older)-Here Cleggy ride (with Billocks, James, Chris G etc too)-Here Me and Matt Gibson in Scunny-Here Little solo ride video-Here All the older ones (tons)-Here Luke. I post new videos on here all the time, so you have probs seen them before but anyway, have a look. -

Extended Family Teaser Featuring Danny Macaskill
Luke Drewery replied to brainchild's topic in Videos
Looks cool, nice varied riding although more trials would have been nice. Danny looks stylish on his 24", Im sure his sections will be mint. -
Nice video, some smooth riding in there, though its hard not to be smooth with that bike.
