  1. Done your mpg challenge yet J-rod?!
  2. Why not stick the cruise on at 70mph and get off the motorway quicker?
  3. Why anybody would drive at 55mph on a 70mph road eludes me...even to prove a point.
  4. Should be reasonably easy to film too. Fill up to the first click, reset mileage, do a 55 mile journey, return to pump, fill up to first click...see resulting consumption. I'm pretty gosh-darn confident I won't be consuming any garments To be fair, if he's going to do it in any car it'll be the golf. It must be a good 200kg plus lighter, and no transmission losses to contend with. Go on Jardo...and no cheating
  5. Like I said, 200mpg is easy to get judging by your logic. Doesn't make it a realistic average though. My LCR used to show nearly 60mpg when the injectors weren't scaled in that part of the map. I didn't go around trying to convince people it had diesel economy though, lol. Get a real life 55mpg (calculated by brimming, doing 55 miles than brimming again). If it uses any less than a gallon, you'll be ~£50k up, and I'll eat a hat (of your choice).
  6. That's instantaneous consumption... In that case my S3 does 200mpg. Who'd have thought?! Like I said, you didn't get 55mpg average. You'd be doing fairly well to get a true 55mpg average in a 130bhp 1.9 diesel of the same era, let alone a 270bhp (I think?) 4wd 1.8 petrol turbo.
  7. Still won't get 55mpg. Are you confusing average speed and mpg?
  8. Very very small possibility that the trip computer may have said 55mpg (if the injector scaling was out), but I'd be willing to bet my S3 AND my entire years salary that it wasn't a "real life" 55mpg. Based on a 60 litre tank, that means your range would have been 725 miles. Not. A. f**king. Chance. You have a 1.8t in a lighter car now. Go prove me wrong! The only time my car wasn't running was for 4 months whilst I completely ripped the front end apart over winter to do a full wire/ pipe tuck. Other than that its never been not running for more than a weekend in 3 years of ownership. Nice try though
  9. Bullshit. 55mpg is not possible on a 1.8t at anything other than coasting downhill on fuel cut.
  10. Not for anything other than a quick reset of the average and a motorway cruise you couldn't. You couldn't possibly keep that up for any distance.
  11. Project Binky episode 10 is out:
  12. You need these Craig: They fit like this:
  13. Like fitting a proper engine?
  14. I have a problem, I know that
  15. Had to order a new clutch for the S3, current one started slipping since the new turbo back exhaust went on. After lots of reading, I went with a Helix organic system. Was tempted by a single mass flywheel system, but apparently on the 6 speed VAG boxes, the rattle, which would drive me nuts. Another £800 down the drain...but it does now mean I'm ready for "Stage 2+", which is 360-380bhp and 360-400ftlbs. Should be a bit different to what it has now!
  16. The sleeves are also there to stop the bar sliding left and right. You'll probably find it creaks a lot with nothing there (this was the reason I went from my 19mm bar to the R32 23mm bar)
  17. A metre was probably a massive over estimation to be fair. Looking at the picture, I'd say 21" (533mm), based on there being ~6 "sections" of 3.5". Either way, it goes a LOT quicker than you think. Don't just wear gloves, you need your arms covered too.
  18. And for f**k sake wear gloves and long sleeves. I didn't, and had arm aids for the next 48 hours. I used 10m to wrap a 3.5" downpipe, which was at the most a metre long. 10m will be nowhere near enough for a 4-2-1 manifold.
  19. Bought exhaust. Fitted exhaust. Car sounds nice, feels faster. Winner.
  20. What the f**k is that monstrosity behind it?!
  21. As somebody who has read Guy Martin's autobiography, I would feel fairly certain he wouldn't want to do it after what he says in there (Its a great read by the way, highly recommend it!)
  22. Thing is I'm effectively in charge while the other guy is away. Literally cannot be off. There's nobody to cover me either. We have to take it in turns to have holiday. The secretary and accountant literally have no idea about our side of the work, not a case of not trusting people to cover...more of an impossibility. Annoying, because I really wanted to come for the social side
  23. I'd love to, but being in a managerial position in an office, and the other manager already being on holiday would meant the office would basically be empty apart from a secretary and an accountant...not really going to work
  24. Going to have to withdraw my name off the list. Can't get the time off work
  25. But yours will always be a £1500 shitter I didn't buy the S3 to be a quick track car. Been there, done that. Time to grow up a little and have a sensible(ish)...if you can call 420bhp 450ftlb sensible I'm not intending to set any records, I'm just there for the social side of it. Felt like I really missed out the last time. ...you're probably right about the mx5 though, never actually been in one!
