er, no, YOU'RE wrong! it doesnt matter whether the freewheel is on the front or the rear, its still a clockwise turning moment that is applied to the freewheel, therefore it tightens up. Make sure your facts are correct before you post please. Andrew

yeah, if it failed, it would just pull the steel insert out, but as the name suggests, its a coil, so when the bolt screws in it exerts a force against the sides of the hole, holding it in tight

ive got a nearly new monty freewheel for sale if you need one, £30 posted, bargain, its like new!!

think i'd be scared of doing anything difficult on it, for fear of breaking it!

I'm not allowed my bike in my room, but thats where its kept. Just make sure you sweet talk your cleaner if you have one, then they wont dob you in for anything!

it may be pulling up, draw a line with a permanent marker round the star nut on the inside of the steerer, then next time it comes loose, you can see if it has moved. if it is knackered, you could just bash it down and put a new one in, or get a long rod and knock it out the top through the hole where the steerer joins the crown.
