  1. edit oops! seems it can play media files from memory sticks :o. Deleted the comment that was here. I don't think it should be called a PlayStation Portable really, as that would suggest you could use all your current PSx games in it. You can't. But I suppose I CD is quite big in comparison to a handheld gaming system, so it wouldn't really be practical. If you really want to be able to play all your old PSx games on the go you'll have to do something similar to this guy! If you ignore the lack of old (and therefore cheap) games and the slightly iffy battery life, the PSP is a very cool little device. I started this wanting to espouse the DS>PSP, but I'm no longer so sure. On one hand the DS is kind of cute, with a wealth of old games to choose from, better battery life (6-10 hours) and (I think) a bit smaller. On the other the PSP is faster, with better graphics, USB2 support and a MIPS processor. For those so inclined there's a few nice pictures of someone taking a PSP to bits here.
  2. You probably don't feel it thanks to adrenaline. IIRC adrenaline does tend to act as a painkiller, with good reason - adrenaline is there to get you out of dangerous situations as fast as possible, so it blocks pain to some degree to help in this. As well as that you're probably concentrating so hard on what you're doing that everything else falls by the way side - when I was out riding earlier I was hopping up a little rooted bank and was concentrating so hard on pulling my wheels up into the line I needed that I didn't realise I was smacking the inside of my ankle on my brake booster every hop until I'd hit it in the exact same place for about the 4th time. Of course then it hurt so much I nearly fell over!
  3. Thanks for that. I wasn't even able to see the site thanks to the lack of a non-flash version! Why, oh why, do people make sites that are utterly reliant on flash. Stab, stab, stab. etc. Now getting a stomping 1.2k/s :o/
  4. I can't even see it thanks to the lack of a non-flash alternative. Why on earth do people seem to think it's a good idea to make websites entirely built on flash? It's bad and wrong and shouldn't be allowed. Mind you, I should be used to French web skills by now. We host Daft Punk's stuff at work, and they're the most irritating, useless web monkeys ever.
  5. Gaim - best multi-protocol IM client around for any platform. Firefox - the one browser to rule them all. I also can't live without eterm, aterm, gkrellm and sylpheed-claws. But they're not much use to you dirty windows users :)
  6. Nice one Stephen, to me the most interesting thing is the differences in organisation to a motorbike trial. All this faffing with pre-ride talks, designated starting sections and observers calling out peoples names seems very organised compared to the "shove a number on your front and just ride" type anarchy I remember from my yoof! I'm intending to head along to one or two comps sometime soon without my bike, just to get a better impression of the type of thing I can expect to ride and the kind of level of riding I'll be up against (not really important, just nice to know). All I need to do then is get my driving license so I don't have to squelch home on the train :)
  7. Post on here when you're going down. I might aim for the same time (if I'm not already there) so we can get a bit of a group together :)
  8. My little brothers flying out to British Columbia for nearly 3 months of snowboarding on Thursday. I can't remember exactly where he's going now, but he's doing an instructors course which sounds really fun. I'm currently trying to decide if I can afford to fly out there for a few weeks to visit him... I'm very, very tempted :) Have fun!
  9. It could be, there are several mountainous slag piles nearby, but I don't think so. I haven't seen the video, but I think from what I remember reading elsewhere it was filmed near Perranporth (at the similar place which I mentioned above) which is about 4 miles away.
  10. To be honest, I have no idea. There used to be two guys I occasionally rode with there, but that was about 5 or 6 years ago now. I'm pretty sure there are a few trials riders in the village still, because I found a load of pallets and rocks built up as if someone were building sections at Wheal Kitty. I do know lots of motorbike trials riders down there... but that's kind of different.
  11. No, not far from the Driftwood. Just go up the steps behind the pub and then head inland (and uphill) at the top. It's about 2 minutes walk, and only takes that long because it's all uphill. You're right, the harbour is on the left. You've just got to time it right with the tides and you can easily get lots of hours riding in :) All the rocks on the right are really dodgy, I haven't yet looked at them with my bike but there are loads of them (they follow the cliff all the way around to the next cove). You can just about make them out in this pic (linked to save peoples bandwidth). They're all naturally created rocks, so are sharp in places and interspersed with sand, shingle and rock pools. Certainly a challenge!
  12. delusional

    riding spots

all within 2 minutes of my parents house in Cornwall
  13. Wow, small world. I grew up there :) The piles of rocks used to be the harbour (which fell down in about 1915), so they're along the side of the cove. You can't really miss them if you ever go down to the beach. Unless the tides right in I suppose... The old mine workings are up at Wheal Kitty (on the cliffs, reachable by the stairs beside the Driftwood).
  14. Make sure you check the tide times before you do. The rocks are all along one side of the cove, so you can only ride them when the tides out (other times they're under water). Will do. Although it probably won't be until April now, but then I should be down for several months :)
  15. These pics are some of the reason I've not been posting much over the last few weeks (well that and not having my own computers nearby). There's a whole wealth of great riding spots, all within about 2 minutes walk of my parents house in Cornwall. I thought I'd take a few pics to give you all taster of what my Christmas has comprised of  These are a few pictures of the old harbour on St. Agnes beach. I was annoyed that I didn't ride here more while I was in Cornwall, the amount of lines (from easy to impossible) here is just unreal. And these are a couple of pics of the old mine workings at Wheal Kitty. There's something similar (but a bit bigger) a few miles away (near Perranporth) that pictures have been posted of here before. There are more pics in my gallery, over here.
