Yep, £595 is very cheap for a 1*2 at your age and driving experience. I pay £136 on one car and £148 on the other
-
Man, that would make me so angry!

More pistons doesn't necessarily mean more power...

Here's the full video from Tarty Days 2014 - enjoy!

What sorta lap time did you manage Nick?

Sounds like a cracking day out! I'm itching to get to Curborough for one of these sprint days sometime, seems like the ability to time really adds something. I must pull you up on this though: No, just no Oh, and NS2Rs are pretty much bang on the same pace as the Federal RSR 595s, I've tested them back to back (both are control tyres for our series). Both are fastest when they are nearly worn out, too.

I had a moment of madness and washed my car. Then pretty much had a mental breakdown and spread some waxy stuff on it too. Water beaded on it and everything. A coolant hose split shortly afterwards, therefore washing cars is a bad idea and I won't be doing it again any time soon

Get some pics of the sills before you put any more time and effort into going to see cars, the amount of them that are described as 'rust free examples' and turn out to be shitters is high...

I was waiting for: KR: Yes.

Mine was £900, passed 2 MOTs so far with no advisories...

Stalker. More money than sense, I guess...

Haha. He seemed keen to keep telling me the rear tyres were worn out... Would have worn out faster if he used the throttle in the corners, haha. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10202779281951340&set=o.327640824083955&type=2&theater

Because awesome. Did a track session at a local sprint / kart circuit the other night in my daily, ace fun and lapping faster than a Mustang, DC5 and fully track prepped 172? Don't mind if I do. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10202779275471178&set=o.327640824083955&type=2&theater A tip: Budget roads tyres don't like track work...

TartyBikes Open Trial - Shipley Glen, 14th September
AdamR28 replied to AdamR28's topic in Trials Chat
Of course - spectators actively encouraged, and we're also interested to hear what you think of the format from a spectator's point of view. We will have some feedback forms on the day and you are welcome to put down some opinions too if you wish -
Bum, never mind! If it oversteers then you need to use that to your advantage and try to get the car rotated on entry using the brakes, then apply the throttle to pull the car through. With less steering lock there is less scrub slowing you down and the front tyres have more grip remaining to drive the car forward rather than having to turn... Unless it tries to swap ends every corner, in which case the back end is probably a bit too stiff and it's preventing you carrying any speed!
-
Cheers dude! I think that depends on who you're following and what your trying to do. Typing anything on my phone is shit so I'll reply properly tomorrow :-P Hmm. There's not huge amounts of time in the first corner, is very much a risk/reward decision, especially in your road car! Any vids from the session? Will the car oversteer if you ask it to? Do you have stupidly stiff suspension/ARBs?
-
V!z or Monty is what you need, preferably v!z.
-
Have a gander at this vid from 30:05 onwards, hopefully you'll see a few spots you can pick up some time. Obviously completely ignore the braking points haha
-
Hah, cheers dude. I have no idea about the rear shocks, sorry, if they went on mine I'd head to the local motor factors and pick up the cheapest I could, lol.
-
Haha. Indeed. That sounds mega - incidentally I'm currently using that site to watch Liverpool spank Spurs, but I wish I'd watched the MotoGP now, haha. Also incidentally I could hear the bikes this morning, stayed over at Bessells which is damn close to the track! And you're welcome In related news, one of the dudes from Mission Motorsport got on the podium yesterday, pretty impressive stuff given his lower leg setup, which was caused by an IED... To be fair, a bit of racing probably makes him feel sleepy compared to the shit he's seen in his time, but massive respect for him. Aaannndd edit #2, some foot camera footage from Friday, which might be kinda interesting for geek types:

Tartybikes Website Update (Latest 29th Nov 2013)
AdamR28 replied to AdamR28's topic in Website Updates
Cheers, I'll give Flipp a slapp -
Well. It's quite a long story. Basically we all got pulled into the scrutineering bay after qualifying, and told we couldn't lift the bonnets on our cars until we'd been on the dyno. One of the Mk1 guys was up first, he made 103bhp. The limit is meant to be '130bhp at the flywheel, less 20% for drivetrain losses' - which to me sounds like 130 MINUS 20%, giving 104, right? Apparently not, it's 108.something plus 20% to make 130. So that's stupid. Now, the first car that went on had recently been to the same dyno I'd been to, which is the second most accurate type you can get, where the pods that measure torque bolt directly to the hubs. Most dynos are traditional rolling roads where the driven wheels sit on rollers, and they measure the torque produced. However, tyre pressure and even tyre tread depth can affect readings in this case. In both types of dyno (hub and rollers) the temperature of the diff and gearbox oil will affect the readings - hotter = thinner = less drag = dyno thinks the car has more power. when the dyno has warmed up it will also have less drag, affecting the readings again. As you will probably suspect, the first car went on the dyno when the dyno was stone cold... sigh... (The only way to measure flywheel power accurately is to remove the engine from the car and bolt the crank straight into the torque reading thingy, but obviously we can't do that.) So anyway, the first guy that went on the rollers made 103bhp. He'd made 87bhp at the hub dyno which I'd made 92 on. So at this point I was getting a bit worried - I would be very very close to 108bhp you'd think? Well no. As the car cools down, the tyres deflate by as much as 8psi, the diff and gearbox oils cool down, so there is more drag in the system, and I made 98. The only car we really wanted to see - you know which one that is, Mark! - ended up being last on the dyno after waiting for nearly 2 hours, and only made 97bhp, apparently. Then after the dyno had been completed she went 2 seconds a lap quicker in the next session, which was weird... TL:DR - They f**ked it up again, but I don't care any more! Haha, oops, oh well You could definitely go quicker, I'm sure the car will be capable! Do you ever get instruction? I was hoping to be down a bit earlier than 7:50 so I could try and jump in with you for a session, but alas Bessell was poorly organised and we had to make two fuel stops and a food stop on the way down, tut! Oh balls, that's not good... Hope you can find it
