  1. If the full frame question was aimed at me, no it isn't. 10.5mm on the APS-C sized sensor gives an image that is the same as a regular 16mm fisheye on a full frame body. By the way, I don't have that 10.5mm lens anymore, I sold it to pay the rent. After my three week holiday I'll be in a new full-time job and looking to completely overhaul my camera kit, hopefully if Nikon have announced a full-frame body by then I'll be going along those lines. It's going to be expensive and difficult replacing my entire kit bag, but hopefully worth it.
  2. Bloody hell! I already said the following: That's as much as I know, I was in the back of a dark van the whole way there and back. No need to be so uptight and derogatory about it!
  3. The 10.5mm Nikkor is an incredible lens by all means, and of all the lenses on offer at that width I'd recommend it. It's fast, it's accurate, it gives incredible colour reproduction, it looses very little detail in shadow areas and it's so sharp you'll need gloves! Whilst the below photo isn't exactly the best photo in the world, I do believe it shows how well the lens works. It's a low light situation, the depth of field offers sharpness throughout all of the foreground right into the corners, whilst dropping the reflections out of focus. You can still pick up shadow detail in the darker reflections and outside in the top right of the frame. Love it! 1/40th, f/3.5, ISO 400 In daylight with fill-in flash it's beyond belief!
  4. Nokia 6310i Best. Phone. Ever. It makes calls, it texts. It has Snake. Oh, and the battery still lasts 2 weeks and it's about 2-3 years old! And I can access my Gmail on it. And it was practically free. Bonza!
  5. Cool video! Shows what riding's about, having fun with friends I'm off to Israel in a few days time, staying for three weeks. My girlfriend recognised a lot of the street spots in Tel Aviv in the video, looks like there's a lot to ride there!
  6. The effect is cross-processing.
  7. Bloody hell mate! Why have you even got half those lenses? Judging by what you have, you don't need the following: Tokina 10-17 Canon 17-40 Canon 28-80 Canon 50 f/1.8 Canon 75-300 And if you're being picky, you can get rid of the Canon 70-200 aswell! That's a lot of monies worth of kit...
  8. I forgot I had them! They're great for fill-in and an utter bargain, but when I use them in bright daylight I tend to double them up to get a bit more power. Ghetto-fabulous!
  9. I know the D2H is 4.1 Mp, but what people don't know is that it's sensor is 12.4 Mp just like the D2X, and there are firmware hacks that unlock it to it's full potential. The reason that Nikon created firmware that outputted 1 pixel of image data from every 4 pixels in the sensor is primarily for speed in this case, but also it virtually eliminates noise as they found out when they made the D1X. Nikon let slip that they were using sensors with 4x the resolution back when making the D1 series and then they did the same with the D2H. Plus with the right software (Genuine Fractals plugin for Photosho) you can blow the 4Mp images up to the same size quite comfortably. I use a D2X quite regularly for work etc, I like it alot and if I can get something that performs the same for a fraction of the price then I'm all for it. The D2X can manage the same 8fps as the D2H, except at 6Mp instead of the 4Mp of the D2H. The SB-800 (and 80) do a good job with keeping up with the frame rate too! And yes, 135 is the name for 35mm format.
  10. I think there is a version of Safari for Windows now. I won't be making the change, it does most things the same as any browser but missing a few options that I use constantly.
  11. Technically, a standard lens is a 50mm f/1.8 lens in standard 135 terms. However most DSLRs do not use standard 135 terms due to a crop factor, usually between 1.5x and 2.0x. A 50mm lens in standard 135 terms is referred to as a standard lens as it gives a crop roughly the same as the area that a human eye can focus on. As a result of the digital revolution the meaning of a standard lens seems to be changing, normally it means a small wide to short-tele zoom lens in the region of 18-70mm (or 28-105 approx in 135 terms.) These lens are much more suited to day-to-day shooting as it saves changing lens all the time and getting dust on your sensor. Anyhow, back on point! I use the following: Nikon D70 DSLR body Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G DX Lens Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D Lens Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G DX Lens (now sold) Nikon SB-80DX Flashgun Assorted flash gubbins 2x Olympus OM10 SLR bodies 2x Olympus 50mm f/1.8 lenses Vivitar 28mm f/2.8 lens Tamron 80-200 f/4 lens Olympus 2x Teleconverter Sunpak 30DX Dedicated Flash Various bags/tripods/other old flashes too, should have another wireless kit on the way soon as I binned mine the other day as it was to be frank, utter bollocks. I do want stacks of new digital kit though. Need money first though! Got me eye on a Nikon D2H until the D3 is announced.
  12. Use something other than Safari? I'm guessing it's easier to find a replacement browser than a good replacement client for MSN.
  13. Beats me too. Could be to do with capture/playback settings in either?
  14. Those crazy NTSC standards confuse the hell out of me I don't really know then, but if doing what you said produces the true 16:9 image then I'd vote to just stick with that for now.
  15. Aside from the odd downpour, it's mostly been dry in Portsmouth.
  16. I'm guessing that it's probably an option on the camera, the aspect ratio would most likely be set prior to recording rather than capturing the video in the squished format like you say. I only half understand what you're getting at, but I can appreciate where you're coming from. Also, 720px x 480px is not a 16:9 ratio, it's a 3:2 ratio.
  17. Marillion. They never seem to go away and always keep cropping up better than ever.
  18. It's out in a few days, but if you can't wait it's worth a listen. Some of it is pretty damn good!
  19. It's near Haywards Heath, which is north of Brighton. The train line that runs over the bridge is still active, but I'm not entirely sure which line it is.
  20. Well there's 37 arches along the bridge, each with a lil halfpipe at the bottom. It's 1,475ft long and consists of over 11,000,000 bricks. Facts, kids!
  21. Have you seen what Diamondback have been doing over the last year or two? Since introducing two new product managers their designs have really turned around. They have a small range of Halfords only bikes which are the usual expected stuff, then they have the proper range which has been doing nothing but turn heads and get positive reviews. The Sabbath and Bandito especially though.
  22. So yesterday I got home from work at about 12 noon (having started at 7am) and I decided to have a gander online, first thing I know is that a mate of mine that I've not seen in ages pops up and gives me a link to a photo of the most unique, awe-inspiring, remote place I've ever seen for a riding spot! Less than an hour later and we're on the way there! I still can't believe it... All images © 2007 Mike Deere Also my apologies I wasn't at the DJ Memorial ride this year, I was doing a photo-shoot for Diamondback at the time. Ride In Peace Deej.
  23. Mostly the 50mm f/1.4D but the wider ones are just the kit lens (18-70.) Mind you, the lighting helped! Nice, sunny day much like today. Thanks guys, there seems to be some great reception on them!
  24. Was a fun little outing, even if I didn't have my bike! Here's a few photos:
  25. I would be there... But I'm moving into my new flat that day!
