Well for a start dont mount the 6x9's in the parcel shelf becuase they will ratlle and distort like feck...find somwhere else to put them or just get rid o shitty 6x9's and use something decent get a decent set of front and rear componants amp them up properly and not just of headunit and it will be far better than gash 6x9's will ever be...

there is a time and a placeto speed e.g i see no harm in sitting at100 on a 3 lane motorwayat 2am with no other cars around. but speeding at 4pm past a school is not on. For the person who said i only rag it becuase i have a slow car i think this maybe true everyone i know with a quick car does not rag it, i think this might be due to we know the cars are fast so no need to prove it but people with slow cars probably want to make there cars look better than they are. As for knowing the roads so your safe to speed...hmm sems a tad stupid becuase you never know the roads, someone may have left/spilt oil all over the road, or an obstical may have fallen into your path which when speeding may cause you 2 swerve badly where as at the speed limit you may just have been able 2 go easily past. I think speeding is fine as long as the driver knows his and the cars limits and does it at the right time in the right place.

best way to find aout about track days is to use specific cas forums (e.g a ford forum if you onw a ford as they will tend to book days for ford only etc) and as prawn said ring up your local tracks and find out dates etc, i try to stear away from airstrips as they tend to rise through tires in no time, which is a big dent on my ever shrinking bank account. hmmm very intersting about the top gear test track never knew that will have to look into it. And agin as prawn said most places will require you to helmet up, some dont but always a safe be to take one with you.

right prwan to answer your questions: I own a 106 gti soon to be on throttle bodys becuase i enjoy racing but not on the road, it costs near enough nothing to enter a track day soo keep the racing to that not on public roads where others can and will be hurt. as for driving stupidly fast yes i agree i dont stick to speed limits but do not take the piss with them, i mean driving past a school at 90 thats just stupid but i see no harm in sitting at 100 on a motorway at 2am with no1 to hurt but your self, take your own life into your hands but not others. as for syncros i was refering to modern cars e.g the S2 rallye when voicing that oppinion

Haha this topic has made me laugh so much clealrly so many people who race on the open roads..twats the lot of you. Mad man mike, the rallye will not do 0-60 in under 7 but with a few well chosen breathing mods will be doing that, the gti also does under 7 as standard (yes pug list it as 7.2 but look at the saxo vts this does 6.8 and this is becuase pug ran it with a full tank of fuel and passangers to keep the insurace group lower and the 106 being on 50kg heavyer aint gonna make .4 of a second differece. Bonney...there is a point in any wheel drive cars as (for examplein FWD) done quick enough stops the back from un-weighting and therefor losing grip... so better traction however no need at all to use it on the road, Syncros wearing out haha i worked as a mechanic for a while now and my god they may wear out but not for agessssssss we had only one car in where the syncro had gone and it had 260,000 miles on it haha. butcha...yup as a gti owner i can confium the handeling is second to none (well except big money cars,only in the dry though 4wd would piss all over it in wet but as i have stated before i would much prefrer fwd or rwd in dry all 4wd is good for is wet and launches) especially when lowered a sutible amount (no more than 35mm at maximum) and not done on just springs (for front defo use full set-up) and certainly when just done through clicks on the torsion bar at the back (plzzz people when lowing these do it the proper way and take the torsion bar right out) As for the person who said superchargers/turbos = pointless mate learn your facts before you chat shit like that if you put enough work into it a supercharger or a turbo Gti will piss all over alot of higher priced cars around the track e.g my mates Supercharged VTR (yes saxo and minus 8V but same thing kinda)will whip any standard scooby round a track. Fun is not in a straight line...

which rallye were you looking at? the s1 or s2? need to know that as there is alot of difernce between the 2. Haha at being past a week and already saying ''i would consider myself a good driver'' because you can heal-toe nd double clutch (although f**k knows why u would wanna b double cluthing in a modern car with syncro) its not being able 2 do that kinda stuff that makes you a good driver, its all about knowing your car and having dam good road awareness which takes time to get, ive got a mate who is stupidly quick round a track but i refuse to go in his car on the road becuase his awarness is shocking. with an attitude like that i can see you saying by to your first car soon. i have a 106 gti (with big plans for it looking 200bhp ish) and i love it 2 peices it goes like shit off a shovel and has loads of the nice things a rallye doesnt have (e.g leather interior etc) and is still quicker than rallye standard. Also this sounds stupid coming from me if you know me but i have seen and learnt lessons pleasssse keep all racing on the track not on public roads.

ahh cars depends what your into really if you want a fun to drive car or a sensible car, i just got a 106 gti which is a great fun little car my god does it take off at 4200 rpm ahh i love it, but it has some serious french shitbox reliability issues, but i wouldnt swap it for anything right now, insurance is also a big issue esecially with it being my first car, so you need to get quotes before buying. but the main thing about buying a car is people cant tell you what to get you may hate it when it comes to driving it, take every car you are considering for a test drive then pick the one you like the most

cor some lucky people on here, i passeddecember the 3rd and have been pulled over like 10 times haha but none of them for speeding/stupid driving just random checks lol also been breathalised 2 times around chrismas when they were having a crackdown on it around here passed both times obveously, this has all been in the crappy ka, god knows how many times ill get pulled next month when the Gti (106) arrives

this is a good point people if your getting the train 2 castle cary ( the ''nearest'' station) arrange for someone to pick up you lugage i had a hugggge camping bag (weighed so much i couldnt pick it up to put it on my back haha) 36 cans of stella and a tent ow and sleeping bag that wouldnt fit in my camping bag due 2 beer haha and we had to ride all the way from the station to the show due to now free buses like the year before, it was the most painfull experiance ever and belive me ive been through serious amounts of pain it was bad luckly this year i have a good old driving licence, so if anyone nearer the time wants me 2 pick up there bagage it will be happy to although rooum will be seriously limited in the clio ddue to buckets in the front and subs etc in back but we will see. see you there ladys and gents and rich ill give u a ring before eater hols and see if we can arrange a meet up with me you and some other devon type people (scrots coming down here by the looks of things so maybe arrange it round that?) iain

haha right u go out and make a decent beat, it takes ages mate some of my friends are really into production. with one of them setting up his own production company, i can tell you now he has to spend hours working on beats and samples to make it any good then theres lyrics everybody says rap/hiphop is just about shooting and black people etc well thats utter bullsh*t go get an album like imortal teqnique or something and then tell me lyrics are all like that. i know one of my mates came second in the nas freestyle comp toget onto a track on nas's album he had to work on these talents of freestyling for years on end and hes still got a long way to go. im not saying rock is not hard to do because it is im us mearly stating that hiphop/rap are just as hard. all im gonna say now is there are some narrow minded mofo's on this forum
