  1. hey iv got the simtra stem.. i find it pretty sweet. Very strong and nice size. Im just a hair under 6ft and ride a 1085 karbon with 25plus bb.. its ideal runnin a 10mm stacker/spacer and some nice bars will make it feel mint. Not sure how it will go for length for your height...but thats really up to you i thinks. The stem is good value and feels right! Its not the lightest out there though... but i like a bit of strength and its none too heavy either. hope that helps mate... in the end id say give it a go and if u dont like it ... im sure some1 will(Y) and then u can work from that size to find out what size youd prefer... .goood luck!
  2. errrm if the pics are anything to go by its the same ol same ol... nothin too exciting there, but its good to see there are stil bikes out there with seat option that dont cost in the same league as say a curtis or leeson.
  3. light stiff strong... got them on my karbon top cranks very happy ... basically what ash-kennard said
  4. yo dude... fkn ace bike. Good to see cable brakes... bb7s rule and xtr levers - MINT! ... fact!! lovin it... and i normally despise all things 20inch unless its got no brakes and ridden by edwin delarosa defo put risers on
  5. leeson made a cool one ... stil available probly check website
  6. Got a couple of mates in USA who rode with JJ bk in the day... He actually lost all interest in trials competitions (probly got sick of winning everything) He was multi national champ as well as junior biu world champ at a very young age Went off bikes all together and started smokin//drinkin etc.. the usual teenager things. Good to hear he got back into ridin. Kids a freak!! If anyone can remember the DEATH series of videos featuring lloyd, steidly, and others... they will remember how good jj was both outside comps and in em!
  7. BRILLIANT! thanks guys... will try krisboats method. its amazing how crap my grind is atm and the pads work sooo dammmn goooood! so might let it be for a while... but kris's grind looks shithot... definately doin that wen i do grind next.
  8. jus wondering if anyone has any tips on gettin a light sharp grind... ie prefered grinding disc? quick and lightly covering the rim.... ? my grinds are ok but the discs heat up alot and iv heard stories of discs exploding from heat... dunno though and havin read most of the pad reviews, most people recommend a lght sharp grind. So just curious bout best way of achieving one?? CHEERS
  9. looks awesome mate.. i luv it!! what u think of those bars?? Im considering gettin some.. i really like those limey2s. nice job.
  10. lolol... yeah i got a pashley about a week after this post. thanks for bumpin this topic whoever did...
  11. hey mate.. great to hear another uk boy comin out to see oz! I live on the sunshine coast (right on the beach/rocks!) bout an hour north of brisbane. If u come by this way u can crash ere as long as needed. Iv had Akkers and Waynio stay ere with me before and both will tell you how good the place is ... birds, beers, beaches, more birds etc. anyways email me dannyboy@biketrials.com if you interested. danny
  12. thanks steve.. im looking after it well ... Nice hieroglyphics pic del rules!! Its amazingly light and flicky to ride even though its a lot longer then im used to. Really really nice on natural and the bike just feels "right" hard to explain but its a real joy to ride. Im sure youll luv it wen u get 1. Well worth the effort. its under 10kgs too atm
  13. thanks guys.. measured the xtr booster... waay too narrow for me to file out, unfortunately. Just bought the thing and its in immaculate condition. Looking into a Salsa one on ebay - thanks andy such a simple thing and such a PAIN IN THE ARSE to get sorted... oh well be nice wen its done. danny
  14. THANKS Adam what do the rest of u guys do? Surely, im not the only person using vees and adaptors with a wide (koxx) rim on the rear..... How do u get it all to fit?? I know if i run a narrower rim, i could shift which position i have the adaptor bolted to the frame in, and therefore move the posts closer together allowing the use of a booster, and the narrower rim would give me the space i need for the pads... but i have just got the rim, notchanging it yet. IDEAS???
  15. good move mate... im sur eyoull luv it! necessary parts - Odyssey linear slick cable (Y) levers - xtrs are nice and feel better then most (cheap on chainreaction!) or use xts, sd7s, or if u feel like being a pimp ultimates... wider profile lever.. personal opinion over which feels best calipers - definately recommend sd7s, ultimates... stay away from xt/xtrs for the rear anyways. the parallel push thing is bollox!! ask bigman, ali c etc for setup tips/advice ps- thanks fo you advice on the booster bigman
  16. ok this is kinda hard to explain... but hang in there and ask if u dont understand my problem. ANy HELp is GreaTly AppReciaTEd!!! Iv got a koxx karbon with heatsink v adaptors, was all ok until my new pads (coust vees) and new (2nd hand shimano xtr) booster arrived today. I had been using jagwire pads and no booster... it was ok but a lil bit of flex. First up, the booster was too narrow to fit the posts, then realised i could change the holes i had the vadaptors bolted to the frame with... so in effect moving the brakeposts closer together. It worked! I could fit the booster on... only problem no matter what i did with the brake arms there was not enough room to fit pads between rims and arms. So basically i can either run the new pads and no booster (great but doesnt help the flex problem), the old pads just fit with the booster but the arms are on a stupid angle and wood hit my shoes as i ride and its poor performance to have the arms like that. OR... il have to find a new booster! The only problem here is i need a v booster and they all seem too narrow. I need something with 110mm spacing in a v style! Anybody know of one? Or can i use the parts iv got and get it all to work? please help..... thx guys danny
  17. voted for Vee... do it mate, u wont regret it! like someone before me said... make sure u geta decent setup. I personally run xtr lever, odyssey linear slick cable, ultimate arms. Its awesome... best feel ever. I made the change few years back and wont ever go bk to maguras. vees are simpler, lighter, better feel imo, easier to maintain, better hold then maguras - dependent on pads of course. Vees dont freeze
  18. first ride pics ... nothing great but here is anyways
  19. prefer natural... opens up creativity in picking lines, builds balance/technique/precision, and the biggest attraction imo for natty is that u get away from security guards, people, cops, and all matter of idiot that walk the streets, bums included! But heres a thought... maybe its not what you ride (street or natty) but rather how u ride it?? Watching people like akkers u can see that he actually rides natty in a streety way. ie he looks for kickers, pulls manuals and basically does everything thats identified with street riding... I dunno if people will agree or shoot me down with ten tonnes of nuclear reacting criticism. But hey thats wat i reckon. Anyhoo... Naturals fun and i enjoy it and isnt that what ridings all about!
  20. bloody brilliant pedals... cant ride anything else now. on my 2nd pair in 3years (the other pair is stil goin strong just scratched to buggery.) definately get some... there are lots of copies out there and yeah same sorta pedal size as v8/12s... same as the onzas,nc17s and more. they're very good and popular pedals... my new set are on a karbon and the whole bike weighs 9.94kgs.. Definatley get some!
  21. YES!! tats gorgeous.. really sweet bike mate I was considering one of them before going for the koxx karbon.... but i do like the lines and clean stylin of the atomz... good choice. yes black cranks wud be the only thing to make it pimpin. Spraypaints cheap
  22. that is reeeaaally nice dude. i like it alot. very clean n simple looking. rims look good
  23. oh shite! cut steerer this morning so i only got 15mm spacers under... anyways im thinking of puttin a riser bar on which would lift the front a bit hopefully enuff to sort it. thinking a easton monkeylite carbon dh bar... can probly squeeze another 5mm spacer in to help matters. Feels ok but yeah bit low. But after ridin short streetier bikes for soo long i wasnt sure bout it being right. Feels MINT on rear wheel though Hopefully finish this dammed assignment soon and actually get a ride on it ... or else im goin to go insane!!!
  24. lurvely! looks nice... those rear ends r insane!! sooo short. just out of curiousity wat gearing u useing?? iv just changed from 22-16 to 18-16 feels soo light. might need to go 15 on rear....
  25. thanks guys... I dont like the look of stackers either mate... but its my first "uci" bike which is funny since iv ridden the better part of 9years (last 3 bikes - ashton 24, pashley, fit delarosa) so u can see im having a real change ere and gettin bk to my roots! lol So wasnt sure about bar height yet, didnt want to cut steerer. I think il cut it today so to leave 1spacer under and get used to it yeah a rohloff would have been nice ... 1 day!, but i think the only thing id like to try on it is maybe a cnt monkeylite dh bar. the pads im using are Jagwires. Absolutely amazing performance and still allow a good level of modulation. but the best bit is they are dead silent which imo is a nice bonus, leaves ur ears free to hear the wonderful hope hubs;) cheers for your comments... will try and weigh it somewhere today and see how it goes on some decent natty.
