The Old Folks And Our Silly Bikes!?
montyrider replied to montyrider's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
No mate im just 18, and they have never paid for anything to do with my bike and never lent me money for it, i always pay for mine own stuff like shoes and clothes. they think its all a waste of time and money and dont see the point of it all. I was once watching one of TRA's vids and my dad said "another idiot on a bike tut" my mate was their too and basically went mental at my dad for slagging us off well funny -
For a about 2 years now thats how long i've been riding trials...my parents still give me grief about riding trials like Grow up, your gonna crack your head open soon, you keeping breaking your bike cause they're not meant for that etc I try to explain to them (like everytime they ask ) but they still don't understand? Does anyone here have that problem of trying to get/help the old folks to understand what we're doing?

ha ha i think its brilliant so so so funny, theirs something bam did that i really want to do...he dug a tunnel under vito's house and then smashed through his floor in the middle of the night. I might be wrong on this one but i also think he took out his bedroom wall and made into a whole perspex wall!? correct me if im wrong? But top programme trough

hey you guys, I'm not asking for anyone to sell me something but i was just wondering is it possible to buy a frame kit for a mod but it also includes a descent set of wheels? I'm lookin for a monty but i don't which one yet, kinda stuck on that one or can anyone tell me a site which sells 2nd hand ones as ebay is looking pretty bare at the mo!
-
just before i broke my monty i was thinking of getting a new frame or bike like the 24" onza....but i dont wanna get one until more companies follow in their footsteps and bring out some really nice ones. Yeah i can imagine that the t-master could snap easily as i have been trying hooks today on it (very funny to watch supposedly) and i felt i would snap it I really would like a benito ros or a monty
-
that t-master looks pretty tidy mate the one im borrowing at the mo is covered (no joke) in tartybike stickers everywhere i reckon theirs 20-25 on their dunno why my friend must of got bored But yeah they're strangley easy to ride i think!
-
However much you want really mate...people usualyy run lower pressures for natural riding than street, i'd go say 5-10 psi lower than you've got in the back tyre if thats any help. go for around 15-20??? lesser the pressure=more grip

he is amazing to watch i watched manifesto all the way through yesterday again and i just think he is brilliant, i reckon he would kick ass in a comp but as he's all the way in canada we aint gonna hear much about him i suppose but i really think he has a wicked attitude to riding and he his a good role model for younger kids to follow
-
dear oh dear i think i might be going to change over too mod but i might keep my monty for a while as i do love it, i was just wondering what bike would mod riders advise to me get i dont want something stupidly long like a CLS my mates got one and i really dont like it no offense to people who ride them they do look the tits , i would like something similar to the benito ros but cant really afford that much as am only a school kid so dont have a proper job. cheers guys

ummm i dunno i'll just have to give this week a try-out. Today we went and rode this new area we've got for ourselves its all built from pallets which we borrowed and i feel really comfy riding around on the pallets i just found a few of the gaps hard but i kept getting closer, so far i reckon i'm still undecided but i'll let you know what im gonna do later on i fear the dark side is drawing nearer though
-
ha ha ha, straight after i posted this topic i went for a ride and was doing pretty well nailed a few craig lee style front to backs on a wall i would like to change to something like a benito ross oh yeah my mate has the first benito ross made its got 001 stamped on the head tube (lucky bstard)! I look quite funny on the t-master though as i'm 6ft 3 n quite a big lad. i'm gonna keep riding mod for the week though and see if i change to the other side
-
As you a few of you might know i cracked my frame the other day and at the mo its going to be rewelded so i ain't gonna have my bike for a week! So yesterday me and my mate built up his T-Master its got descent parts too like eno freewheel echo bars n stem sealed onza hub on a ronnie rim at the back so it pretty tidy. I thought i wouldn't be able to ride it as i ridden one before properly. but hell i'm amazing on it i can gap further lunge up higher stuff and drop much smoother! And i think they're pretty fun things to ride really thats why im going for a big ride today Could this be a sign?
-
I've been using koxx browns and have to say they're amazing im using them with a medium grind on the front and same on back and they're brilliant make a sweet noise too which turns some heads . I would buy them if you can chap

Mine is 8ft off an old school bus stop....i did use to like doing big drops but it aint that good doing them all the time as you'll eventually break yourself or your bike! They're fun to do if you've got loads of passer buys watching you intently with young kids while saying "he aint got a seat he must be mad" lol. The feeling you get from doing a big drop is quite a buzz but breaking your bike aint
-
Their is one good side to breaking stuff and having a bad day and i think it when you dont ride for a few days cause your waiting for a new part and you finally get too go riding feeling refreshed and a big smile on your face cause you got a new part in my case most likely a new frame i am liking the look of the adamant A2 that will put a big smiule on my face
-
lol...i guess that does kinda suck 5 times! I was going to meet my mates to do some filming once and jumped some steps on the way their and my qr EXPLODED! and half of it shot out 2 metres down the road lol, that was in the olden days when i had a shimano LX hub!
-
Today started off a really good day, i sorted my bike out the usual few little tinkering things while drinking beer at 10:30 we moved all of our pallets out of area we were banned from and hadn't ridden for 2-3 weeks and moved them to somewhere new. Than after a small drop off these pallets i found a crack on the weld of my chainstay so i stopped riding big than when hopping i snapped my chain and whacked my knee so had to leave all my mates to enjoy themselves while i walked home! Any one else had a day where they just wish they stayed in bed?

does anyone here remember the hype that was around ryan leech like a year ago? and what do you guys think of him? I used to be really into him and always watch him extreme sports channel, i watched his film manifesto today at my mates and oh my fukn god he is seriously amazing! all the hype about him was around when he released this film but now i never here anybody talk about him which is a shame i think. Also could anyone tell me where to download it? Cheers guys...

best bet is to go to a place where builders are building new houses and ask them for them they should just let you have them as they burn them when they finish....just dont wait too long as i once did, some builders said i could have some they literaly had 10 stacks of them all about 2-3 metres high i got their too late one day and they'd burnt them all
-
I used to run a gusset single speed kit but just changed had it for 1 1/2 years roughly never had a problem £18 from tarty if im right, they're well good and easy as to set up and use
-
Ha i'd prob start hanging out on street corners shouting at old grannys while wearing a hat too small for me at a 85degree angle to my head and tuck my grandads football socks into my skyblue tracksuit...i think its called being a chav. seriously id prob still be dirt jumping i used to love just hitting huge jumps and bailing big style oh the ol days
-
i ride a 26" im really stupid and forgot what is stock or mod 26" is stock is'nt it. SORRY.
-
ummmm. i was thinking that it would be heavy...but i was really hoping that i'd get a reply saying it'll be fine so i would be able to ride when i get my wheel but it seems not.
-
hey you guys, i just oredered my new wheel today as im changing my set up to a freewheel on the front as i jus bought an ENO freewheel. but didn't order a rear cog! duh. so my mate jus gave me a 13t one to put on the rear how do think it will feel? also how the hell can i get it off the wheel its already on? I've tried locking the cog in a vice and turning the wheel but no results! Cheers guys
