  1. The SSD speed gain in games differ from the type of games you play. In first person shooters you might not notice alot of difference, because the map is loaded up front. But while playing an MMO/RPG with a big world you will notice a big difference because they have to load sections of the map as you play. So using an SSD will decrease the time and overhead that it takes to load the map sections.

  2. It's a total chaos in laptop land, so many different models. There's a dutch website that's incredibly good at filtering out specs and price ranges. While it might not be convenient to order from the netherlands, I think that the price shouldn't vary too much in the UK.

But I actually think that it's the worst time to purchase a laptop right now. The whole market is changing with tablet-laptop hybrids on windows 8 release. I think you would benefit alot from waiting 1 or 2 months. If the tablet hybrids are a success the shops might lower the prices on regular laptops.

  3. I remember watching ryan leech video's when I just started riding. I never understood how amazing some of the small things are, how he can do 180 gaps with a pretty high rotational speed and just stop dead in it's tracks upon landing.

  4. Downloading is pulling something to your device, uploading is pushing something to a different device. So it depends from which persective you look at it.

Say you've downloaded something music from the internet to your HDD. That's downloading because you take it from an external source to a local point.

You transfer it to an mp3 player. Could this technically be referred to as an upload, since you're taking it away from the PC, or is it strictly a transfer since it's a direct link to a physical drive?

From the PC's perspective you're uploading, from the mp3's perspective your downloading. I think it applies for both physical and digital services.

Likewise, transferring footage from a camera to the PC. Is that uploading since you're taking it from a remote point to local, or can it only correctly be called a transfer?

Yeah, the camera is uploading here, while the PC is downloading. I think a tranfer is an act where the files are moved instead of copied to a repository. An upload/download send/receives a copy.

  5. They have found out what it is guys, it's this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AV_nodal_reentrant_tachycardia

I'm getting medication but it will be better to get surgery.

I'm really glad that I finally know what it is, but not thrilled about getting surgery.

There is a 1% fail margin which would result in me getting a pacemaker. 1% is small, but still not fun to hear :P

Tomturd, you were actually right about the supra ventricular tachicardia, it's one of the effects of the condition. Thank again for that!

  6. you should watch flips latest video, he drops off a decently heigh container. He pedals of it and sort of "kicks" himself off the edge. I also use this as a rolling dropoff and it feels alot smoother than just pulling a mini manual.

  7. I'm not really sure, I am able to do things now I was afraid I was never able to do. I've had some social problems which made things really difficult, but always faced it and never ran away. It was a long and hard road, but it has really paid of. First year of college was great, made a bunch of friends and was generally pretty happy.

Then I got a super jealous girlfriend and was severely limited in my social space and freedom.

I enjoyed my time with her but in the end decided she was just too jealous. I then discovered that alot of social progress had been undone and that I had to start over.

For the last 3 years my life has now consisted of sitting at home behind the computer. I am doing productive stuff 90% of the time though.

It's kind of funny, because I am now able to do thing I love most career wise (create videogames!) because of all that spare time, but the rest of my live is incredible boring and lonely. I only have 2 friends that I see once a week.

I've never been a student, never got to hang out with people and have a good time. I have graduated now and never am able to get that time back.

On the other hand I got a nice future ahead of me career wise (hopefully, you never know).

This got alot more personal than I thought, but I feel like this is the right opertunity to get it off my chest :P

  8. Which operating system are you running? I also ran into the same problem, and it seemed like ubuntu doesn't play nice with i3 processors.

But I guess your running windows.

Cleaning the insides (laptps nowadays are very easy to open up without messing everything up, check the underside) can make a massive difference. Ecspecially the fans.

This might seem silly, but check if you're missing any of the rubber thingies on the underside. I managed to lose one and now the laptop is very slightly tiled which blocks a small part of the ventilation.

  9. I've been wanting one for a while, but delivery time is so long :(

Hope they crack the connection to ipad screens soon, would then be very doable to just buy a replacement ipad screen (about 40 pounds) and make your own raspberry pi tabletish thingy.

  10. Hmm. I don't do that, and I can't work out how it would make a difference (other than a huge crash if you release too early! haha). Got any vids of you doing it that way?

Afraid I don't :( I think everyone does it subconsiously. When I don't release the front brake, I spring up in a straight motion, instead of forward to make the front to rear wheel switch.
