I've used water for years and it is pretty good but the other week I bought a full build koxx coustellier V2 and I think its got magura royal blood in the rear brake and that feels great.

mineral oil is the official substance meant for it,there are a few offering about from shimano to monty and each feels different so experiamentation can be done.i've also heard of cooking oil being used but meh to that.

water is also used alot as it give a very light feel to the lever and is inexpensive to use,but. . . it voids warenty, occasionally it damages seals in the brake wich isnt good and it requires antifreeze during winter to stop your brakes from icing up .

Deionized water is what most people i know seam to use, its pretty cheap to less than £1 a bottle works pretty well.

Hello,

I just used water I think it is much better, And it is not spongy, It is more of a better pull, To be honest I would use water but you will have to re-bleed it every month I just to keep it good and working all fine.

Hi,

I use water for the best feel,but if you insist on using oil,the one to use would be either monty oil, or maguras own oil. Both are relativly cheap starting from about £4.00 and can be found in most bike shops.

If money is no expense get the specific magura bleed fluid.

But if if your break badly needs a bleed and your short of money water is perfect because it works well and its free.

well mineral oil sounds the best as it is cheap..

i dont want to risk using water as it will damage the seals.

Don't use dot 4 brake fluid!!! i used it in my old maguras and it made the seals in the levers expand so the lever didn't return properly and made the brake unusable.

but Ive used water every time Ive bled my brake sinse then and i found it makes the leaver much more responsive.

water destroys your slave piston in the winter , do a summer bleed of water and a magura royal blood bleed for winter but give the system a good flush out 1st hope I helped .

Used it when I used to ride about 2 years back and it worked a treat, not as sluggish as Mineral Oil, as quick as water without being too thin, plus it kept the pistons lubed pretty well.
