Is disc brake better on front end or rim brake?

Also what are the best brakes to get avid or magura any answers would be helpfuhll and

The more popular decision is disc on the front (i recomend a hope mono trial)

With the Bottom bracket you are better off finding an Isis one & Isis cranks, rather than Taper ones, If you have taper cranks though buy a taper Bottom bracket

But if you have isis cranks buy an Isis Bottom bracket.

Isis is more popular than taper, It's supposed to be better

for me the best and the CHEAPEST combination is rear magura and front v brake try to buy the avid lever brake that mauch importatn than the brake

if you can buy a disc brake go ahead ... it better than a v

i did hav a hope/try-all brake on front but decided to go with a magura 4 a bit because i rekon you need a proper bite and hs33 jus do that job(Y)

thanks for the reply but going have to get taper because i have middleburn crank set which is taper but might upgrade to isis

I run dual hs33 works brilliant I dont like disk as much because there either on or off , with hs33's you can put the brake on different pressures this comes in handy when you do gaps to front ,you can roll onto an object nicely without going over the bars .

Maguras are more On/Off, I know it's more opinion than fact, but I've never heard anyone ever say that Maguras have more modulation than discs.

V-brake set up the lightest, probably lower power capacity but if your moving onto front wheel moves/maneuvers then disk maybe the way foreward.

as for BB's ive been runnin SQ for few years, i would suggest race face if you have the money failing that if your not stressing the BB alot (smooth rider or light body weight) then you may aswell go for a shimano, £20 for an XT and ive never had an LX go wrong and their a smidge over a 10er.

If it's a square taper bb your after, you can't go wrong with a Shimano UN54, they're amazing. (I think it's UN54 anyway, they changed the number a while ago).

The old shimano LX BB with the solid axle (now UN54) is bombproof and will last you years, if youre after something a bit lighter then one of the old XT hollow axle UN72 is an option. Failing that the viz hollow axle BB is an option.

If you happen to chance upon one of the old hope titanium BBs on ebay then grab it if you can, super light and rediculously strong

I thought shimano stopped making solid axle BBs?

And as for the brake question, I love dual magura. Tis amazing! With the right pad set-up, it rivals a disk for power, and maybe even modulation.
