hi,

i dont understand how to do the equations where you need to balance something out i am in year9 so nothing too drastic but technically it year 10 work as we do it a year early.i cant give any examples as i dont really know how?sorry for another one of these school related questions but im desperate as i have 30% of my GCSE's in under 2 weeks and i cant ask my teachers as its half term so if someone could explain to me how to do that would be great

thanks Adam .

I had to do this in my module last semester for Materials Science.

It's fairly easy, just simple multiplication. Start with the very left element and count how many there are on the left side, the big 2 or 3 or 4 etc tells you how many it's getting multiplied by, the small number (if there is one) next to the element on the right tells you how many of that element there are.

For example

3b89e91ccf14bfd7f485dd7be7d789b0a-3.png

means there are 3 x 2 H molecules and 3 x 1 oxygen molecules.

Now you have to balance this on the other side of the equation. Do you understand so far?
