piperfraz Posted August 5, 2011 Report Share Posted August 5, 2011 (edited) Earlier today I was out on a ride, I went to gap and as soon as I was on my rear wheel, the hub axle snapped. Part of the hub was also bent so much it couldn't be used again. Looks like it's new hub time..... I was wondering if anyone has any idea why it happened? Mikee Posted August 5, 2011 Report Share Posted August 5, 2011 (edited) Ah, it is just a hollow 10mm threaded axle. You will likely be able to get something suitable from your local bike shop. Or even a halfords store. Mabye get a solid one with nuts on the end instead of a hollow one though as it will be abit tougher. Doesn't have to be new hub time. From what I heard, your cranks wouldn't spin, you tightened the cones and it exploded, yes? Well sounds to me like your wheel wouldn't turn because your cones were already too tight, then it was so tight it went BOOM.
