If you explain to the police that you're worried for your safety, they'll probably either put you on a witness relocation program in Las Vegas, or they'll just not tell him how they found out. Think about it - if he got worried about there being no insurance on the car, he's obviously worried someone might find out in general. It's late and I can't think of how to word it properly, but basically, he knows it's a liability, so he's surely going to be "concerned" that the police might find out. I know you're worried about him doing something to you, but the police do random checks on suspicious cars all the time - maybe it might've happened to him (After your phonecall :unsure:). Who knows.
