Frame Advice

Hey everyone, I'm looking to get rid of my old bike and get back into this trials lark in time for summer!

I'm quite tall (6ft) but I don't like limo bikes.

My Zebdi, however, is too short and feels cramped and gives me back pain after any length of riding.

The nicest frame for me personally that I've ridden is a Koxx LB 1040, but I don't really want to shell out £400-500 if I can avoid it and I have no idea where to get one from (if they still make them, I'm not sure...).

I ride fairly basic "trials on the street" (not street street, like bunnyhops everywhere, but i still like a bike that spins a bit). Not bothered about how well a frame manuals because i can't do them!

So yeah, that's about it. Any suggestions welcomed (Y)

Cheers,

Ben

I'm gonna have to promote Base's excellent TA 26 again , it seems to meet your requirements . With short chainstays and a fairly long top tube it's kinda an inbetween length , making it a great allrounder . Ask your riding buddies if you can try out their bikes , and see what you like . It's so exciting choosing a new frame and there's never been so much choice . Summer's on the way !

Cheers everyone!

Colly, I don't want to get another planet x. It will crack in the exact same place again, I'd put money on it!

I've never been a fan of the way ashtons look, but I've also never ridden one, so i may yet be won over, who knows? :P

I did quite like the TA26 when dantrials had one, I'd forgotten about them completely, I i may have to look into that...

cheers,

Ben (Y)

I was always under the impression the Zebdi was averagely long? I guess I was wrong, what's the wheel base on them?

The Bae sounds like a good bet, good frame, especially for the price.

But the best way is to just try as many frames as you can get your hands on and see which tickle your fancy.

Good luck!

I think mine was about 1040, with Pashley forks. So with "normal" forks, maybe about 1025 :P

Get a Base - Even if you don't like it, at least it's cheap (Y)

if you like a TA26 then you'll like an ashton (well more or less) people who rode my ashton and my base said they felt the same and its because they more or less are the same, just a slight different look and a degree or 2 out of the headangle. but the frames backend and length are more or less the same.........

Waynio....................

ashton are imported by a chap who imports base (figure the rest out for yourself.............) but the ashton bike has been deisgned by one of the best known riders in the world (a bit like most of the koxx and monty bikes) but the geo suits different people, some people like it some people hate it, itr all depends what you personally like dude? :P (Y)
