Caleb
just hit it off with a hammer, it shouldnt really damage it and if you give it a few good clanks on each side it acts as if it were wobbling so falls off. You could try using boiling water to speed this up i suppose :P

Will Arnold
what type of crank is it? square? isis? if its square then u might be able to get away with riding nit without a crank bolt in for a while :P Will
Hobnobs
Wedge + Hammer + Meaty bashing between crank and bb shell = Crank off fairly safely.
Synergy
the way my mate took mine off was with a hammer and chisle, it takes a few bashes (20 ) :- then it just pops of without warning :P
guineasmithpig
not advised unless ur really desperate. if ur just really lazy, then shame on u. proper tools all the way people. btw, ur lbs sound like right tossers. smithy
matheprat
Loosen the crank bolts and ride around on it for a while. I wouldn't hit it with a hammer.
cookie456_the2nd
Thanks for the suggestions. Got it off by putting a bit of wood up to the crank/bashring and hitting it with a hammer.
Matt Burrows
proper tools all the way people. btw, ur lbs sound like right tossers. smithy ← For not letting him borrow a tool? Why should they? If you can hammer your cranks off, then they weren't tight enough in the first place :-. Best way is to do some light riding with the bolt off to try and work the crank slightly loose, then cover it in boiling water (a blowtorch is better if you've got one) then get the hammer out. You have to be careful riding without the crank bolt though, if the crank works loose then it will damage the taper especially if its ISIS. If none of that works there's always a hacksaw :P" (some dumbass at work had to resort to this as they f**ked the threads :P)

Nick Garland
Piece of wood and a hammer works a treat. I've done it many times and did it last night as I was de-building my bike. I really need to invest in a proper tool though.

I didn't mean he was dumbass for stripping the threads, we've all done it at some point I'm sure :D". This guy is just generally very stupid though. It took him an hour to get the crank off eventually with the aid of a hammer, blowtorch and hacksaw (Y)
