Call me dumb, but that road bike and the XO bike look the same?

What on earth is XO for a start, and what makes the bikes different to road bikes? Sorry to thread steal, but i've never heard of XO before. (Y)

what makes the bikes different to road bikes?

- Knobbled tyres.

- Cyclocross bikes usually have cantilever brakes, or Vs, or discs (better mud clearance).

Other than that, not much!

'XO' is just Treks Cyclecross bike... like a ZOO 'Pitbull', for example...

Frames are different too...

Usually tweaked geometry as you don't wanna be right down low in a full on road race position if your riding offroad. Also the frames have laods of clearance around the chain/seat stays and the forks to allow for wider tyres and lots of clearance.

The frames are a lot stronger than road bikes too, and usually a wee bit heavier because they have to be able to take more abuse (Y)
