yoyoyo
yeh it's not an amazing spec but it does it's job, and the monty was a 20" which might have something to do with making it feel weird,

Waynio
well just think of it this way Monty/Montesa have been producing trials bikes before you was a wee nipper. the quality of their bikes has to be to a satisfactory state or they would be out of buisiness same goes for other companines such as onza/zoo/echo etc etc, all you find is some companies copy other companies. ie onza have copied the koxx levelboss but built it to a different price zoo copied the ashton justice but made it longer wheelbase Echo copied the XTP with the machine work on the Hi Fi capiche? Matt_Tupman
I think there amazing :) was really impressed by the new 231Ti so impressed i'm getting one :P . One think I like about Monty is that they keep it simple were it needs to be :D
RicH_87
as far as i know they make good frames, good cranks, good bars and stems i personally wouldn't buy their rims, i wouldn't trust their forks, and i wouldn't pay their extortionate prices. Janson
monty bikes are nice comp bikes. light and fragile. they've always ridden great, and are always the lightest off the shef bikes. though it comes at a price, which is general durability. if you don't rag your bike a lot though, it should be good for a fair while. dave33
kenises make monty frames so they are top notch :) one of the best frame building compainies on the planet imo :D
Lee_Buchanan
Id say you get nothing but quality from monty, its just a shame there prices are so high... Afterall they have been in the bussiness the longest they know what they are doing.. Lee
biketrialler
Poor, i've seen loads of montys in my area go rapidly downhill in very short amounts of time :)
Nick Garland
Yeah. I heard that the Mod bies aren't as good. So maby thats why... ← How can a mod bike not be as good as a stock, they are two different bikes and if your really small a mod would probaboly suit you better and if your really tall a sock would suit you better. Also monty frames are usually high quality.
Josephine
as far as i know they make good frames, good cranks, good bars and stems i personally wouldn't buy their rims, i wouldn't trust their forks, and i wouldn't pay their extortionate prices. ← You said it, I thought Onza were being cheeky at £15 for a new bash plate, didn't realise Monty charge £27 :) which, for an ultimately sacrificial bit of mass-produced metal, makes me wanna wretch... Hobnobs
it costs 27 for an echo/zoo bashguard! Despite the fact that you can get the exact same bash with a hedgehog cut out for 10 quid less. I also seem to snap echo bashs really quickly, theyre so brittle.

Over the past year ive known one to crack and that was under the pure massive riding coming from Matt Arkwright! Danny Foster, Chris Walker, or any other people i know who do pretty big moves have never cracked one! Cheers, Joe.

But I'm only talking about the top-level monty 221, which is £535 for the frame. Reportedly for quite a long time after they were on production, none were broken for ages, despite almost all amasing top spanish riders using them! My one's chainstays were totally hammered by the time I bought it, but it still seems fine strength-wise.

Cheers, Joe. ← Yeh true, but they replace theirs every 6 months or something stupid. I bet if they rode it hard for 12-18 months we'd see some serious wear and tear. Lee_Buchanan
Only montys i know that have cracked have been due to the fact that they was using a profile in the rear,as montys only have 996 spacing or something.I feel sorry for the poor bastards that fork out for the bikes when they are selling them and they break on them more or less staright away :( Bongo flipped his a few times. If you can handle a back flip theres got to be some strength there :ermm: monty have been desinging trials bikes since the very start thus being why they never really change much on there designs becuase they stick to what is proven.... PaRtZ
I think they're great things! Ive got an X-lite and its so manv...manove.....flickable its really easy to handle too. Waynio's right, if they weren't good, no one would have bought any. :(
