How come when any other frame breaks it's a 'shit frame', but with Zoo's it's always put down to being a manufacturing defect? I've seen frames tear apart like that before just 'cos it couldn't take the strain, not 'cos of a defect...

Either way, it sounds like it took some beating, so it's not like it snapped out of the box or whatever. They're still pretty much the strongest frames out there.

Maybe it was a defect. Looking at the picture it looks like a tubing failure and not a weld failure. So maybe it is not manufacture defect but just a defect in the material it self. I have seen Steel BMX frames break right in the middle of the top tube and bottom tube that were caused by tubing failure. I don't know, it could be a defect or it just may have been the strain like you said. It is hard tell by just looking at the photos.
