Luano
Ive been looking into getting a Chris king single speed hub and noticed they use a ring drive system over the pawl/spring/ratchet mechanisms found with most hubs. Basically i want to know how this system works and why it is less likely to slip. Ive looked on the chris king website but there was no detailed info on how the system works (i google searched aswell but its mainly crap.), all i know is it uses one bring spring which pushes against the hub and driver?so if anybody knows how the system works would you care to emulate on it.thanks... basher
Im sure someone will give a better answer than me but ill say what ino or believe to no. As far as ino its works like a clutch from what ive heard ive never really looked into how one works for sure. And the harder you kick the more pressure is put on the relevant parts and therefore the harder you kick the less likely it is to skip. Im sure someone will give you a precise techincal answer. max-t
why do you need to know?all you need to know is they are confusing and harder to service lol.hows it hard, no little bits to loose. all you do is unscrew a bolt and everything pulls out then slots back together...You only need to take the axle out then the driveshell pulls out. tomtrials
i know beasty hubs really amazing design as the best way to describe is a clutch system. Why do you need to know how they work i know how a pawl and rachet hub work and they all seem to die on me. chris king, they are really worth the money have amazing bearings and mine hasn't shown any sign of weakness. remember to get steel freehub not silly weak ali.
