I dissagree, the 5 is lovely. And when I saw your "perfect driveway" I did also assume you had a small penis, seriously, that truck is just f**king silly.

After I typed that, I made myself a bacon sandwich. Then got up this morning and had bacon and egg!

Haha, this has amused me greatly. I think thats to do with blood pressure or somthing (this may be an epic urban legend) but your body forces you to move or somthing to prevent you dying....

I actually miss school alot! I used to do things such as soaking my own school shoes in water so I could get a note off my tutor allowing me to wear trainers. I also somhow managed to get away with wearing a hoody to school everyday when they were banned, and everyone else seemed to get them confiscated. School was some of the best times of my life, I could mess around and not do to badly, however now its all got far more serious! what with uni prospects etc.

Yea I ran my bass and my mates guitar throught it for a while the other day at practice level and it was fine... but the sound it produces (generally) is shit. Does the job for practicing though. It is shit, but being skint, it does the job and I got lent it for free for as long as I want really, so Im not going to complain You b*****d! I would have probably bought that lot off you I also want another electric guitar, I miss mie so much while messing around on the acoustic is nice and mellow I miss distortionnn...

Circus in serious posting shocker... You seem fairly clued up on it all, Im assuming you play an instrument? And yes, given time Im sure you can become very good at 1 instrument with very little theoritical knowledge, but what if say after playing guitar, you wanted to play piano. You would have to start from a much lower level of knowledge than if you had a good knowledge of music, even simply knowing about bass and treble clefts and being able to read simple music, coupled with knowing middle C etc. and within a day or so I think you could have some basic tunes pretty dialled on a piano, simply with your basic musical knowledge that you gained when playing guitar. As aposed to someone who just learnt from tab/by ear. Bearing in mind in the case of piano most music IS, well, musically written and portrayed via dots..

Haha, there was a semi reasonable debate in the guitar thread, which lasted for about 20mins. The forum is lacking abit though atm. And you, who said there should be no chit chat gtfo, there are alot of members on TF that are good friends/dont ride trials anymore, and chit chat is a place they can discuss there own thing etc. and gives people a chance to share knowledge and opinions on other topics. It makes the forum a far more social place, I tend to dislike forums with no chit chat sections, as they feel like far less of a comunity.

But surley if you compose your own stuff and enjoy it etc. and it isnt sucsesfull and earns you nothing and then at the same time, tour with someone massive and play there stuff along side them, your earning large sums of money doing somthing that ultimatly you find relativly easy/enjoyable, yet you can still compose your own thing, and try to get it recognised, hell you might even get better, and get better known by being the backing for these people?

I have masses of respect for him, and I love his music, but when it comes down to it its seriously simple chord structures, if your analysing it from a purley musical examinatory (f**k knows if thats a real word) way ultimatly he isnt talented. I dont dis-respect him, and I think hes done amazingly well for himself. Im open to both views, Im just attempting to get some kind of a debate going, there seems to have been a huge lack of debating recently, and I thought this was a good topic that came up between me and a friend on msn, I can see both sides, Im simply backing one. As with all "rules" there are exceptions. Notice though, excluding the arctic monkeys, there are many other bands that are similar, using simple chord patterns etc. and they are quite frankly shit, or arctic monkeys knock offs. Surley some degree of musical knowledge would allow them to alter the way they play, and the chords etc they use to create a different sound?

Im not saying that being able to read music/understand musical theory is what makes of breaks a musician atall, Im simply saying that I belive it is an important part of music as a whole, people get by with no theoretical knowledge, henrix used the arctic monkeys guitarist as an example, he knows f**k all other than power chords and abit of pissing around, and he is rich. I wouldnt say hes a talented musician though, more lucky...

True, however with the tab, over a certain period of time, with practice I could probably play it, and so could any average dumb ass, if you hand them tab a bass and lock them in a room with the song on a CD chances are eventually they will be able to play it. But there still an average joe, who has 0 understanding of the instrument, or of music as a whole.
-
But, if someone handed them a piece of music, they couldnt play it kinda like saying your fully capable of using the english language, because you can speak it, yet when given a piece of literature, you cannot read it.
-
Here we gom debate time. Im currently talking to a friend of mine who plays guitar, he uses only tab to play. However I have just started music lessons, as Iv decided that you cant really claim to fully understand/play an instrument if you dont know the musical theory, and cant read music, ultimatly, music is the language that was created to convey the musical language to all musicians, as a universal comunication method. Im sure a few of you just play from tab, and listen to the music, and play like that, I dont condem that, Iv spent the last few weeks learning most of the arcitic monkeys album on bass via tab. However I think to trluey understand the music, and write your own music/claim to play and instrument properly, musical theory is key. Discuss.

f**k that, stay in Guernsey.

I like jazz, and blues. Iv always wondered how the f**k you play a fretless instrument, excuse my french...
-
But look at the body shape of the epiphone! its.... different (apart from everyone else that owns one) Fretless
