  1. Wo really?! Well I gotta meet some of these guys. Probably alot better than me and my mate but oh well:) Phil
  2. Is there any trials riders atall in Fleet, Farnborough, Basingstoke, Guilford, Bookwood, Hook, Woking? I only know lik 2 people who do trials (I love in fleet) Its annoying and I've only ever seen like 2 other people ever riding trials about. SURELY OGTTA BE SOME! cheers Phil
  3. Yeh completely and before I got his signature earlier on I saw him setting up his bike from the grandstand and shouted good luck to him. He just kinda achknowledged me speaking. What I kinda thought was gay was when on the team like quick race thing his partner has comepletely screwed up and he was miles behind like the other team had nearly finished and he just sat there with a pissed of look on his face. I mean fair enough it meant he was dissapointed and he couldnt have won that race but I stil lthought it was like giving up. Phil
  4. To be honest I'm not sure but I cant imagine a trials bike with a rear disk. It just seems like it wouldn't hold. I think if your actually building the monty up and not buying it straight with double disk you should just save some money and get a HS33. The way I see it if its good enough for the pro's it should be good enough for you. And also with a back disk there is a good chance of destroying it on walls and stuff - which cant be good! Phil
  5. I see what you mean and that is preety bleak. But then again there is always the point that competition does bring a riders performance up and does make trials more of a 'sport' (which could be a negative thing to you) When it comes to the massive moves I agree in some contexts. For example yesterday's trial comp was not about big moves atall. It was 100% about skill and control. However when I look on the internet at trials videos alot of what I see is riders jumping from a wall down to a smaller wall/rail. Im not saying that isnt amazing but it is bring to see it so many times - people need to develop new stuff sometimes. I know what you mean about being chilled also - it is the way to go. Me and my mate are nearly the only trials riders in our whole town which is abit crap but when we ride its completely chilled out. We never talk about who is better or make competition in our riding - which I find fun as I compete in other sports. Phil
  6. Cheers. But can you like kinda expand on that. What did the scene used to be like? Phil
  7. Haha Well im sorry for getting excited about meeting Ashton lol. Ha no way Danny was cool as and he had a girl friend so I'd be quite surprised/scared if he did! Phil
  8. Firstly, the trials at the Excel Bike show was phonominal, Especially the speed rounds where two pairs of riders went head to head over a course. Awesome. Met Martin Ashton at the show and got his autograph :)He was wearing a cap and normal clothes. Me and my mate were standing at the hope stand and in the corner of my eye I saw a guy standing next to me but didnt think anyting of it. Then my mate goes 'Dont spazz out but thats marting Ashton standing there.' He was a really nice guy. The funny thing was hardly anyone at the show seem to recognise him when we saw him but then again couldn't have been too many trials riders there. And the coolest bit of the day was after the last trials show I called out to Danny/Dani ( ) Butler (legend) and after chatting for abit persuaded him to take off the Onza rider shirt he wore for the trials comp and give it to me I think I mite give it a wash before I wear it haha. O and I got the autograph of Ben savage - he didnt actually talk maybe he was in 'the zone' or something. All in all an AWESOME day! Phil
  9. Im preety sure his point is not that he wants gears to ride to the shops, more likely that to actually get to spots to ride it is sometimes is abit of a treck. Im not going to comment on the actual topic because I knoww nothing about mods. Phil
  10. Yehhh that is preety savage. The way I take injuries is to get up and go for a light jog in circles - yep...you look like a retard but it does the job! To be fair I've never had a substancial injury riding just cuts and bruises so cant really comment. Phil
  11. Woah, that is niiice as riding! This isnt very constructive just wanna say im well impressed that is awesome stuff. Phil
  12. Thanks for your advice guys. I am 6ft 2 and still growing so I think it might be the right choice form me. It feels comfortable for me to ride. Cheers again. Phil
  13. I have been riding my friends custom Onza T-Rex for a number of months and am improving greatly. (Developing skills learnt when riding street) Therefore I am now looking at purchasing a trials bike however do not have a massive budget. For this reason I am looking at the T Rex. I like the feel of the frame, it seems to be a strong bike and the components aren't diar. What is the general opinion on the Spec 1 T-Rex? What is your opinion on the bike? Any useful information on the bike? I would appreciate any help, guidance or information. Cheers, Phil
  14. Yeh that is one of the best videos around. It is hard to define his style a mixture of street and trials, but whatever it is - its bloody impressive! No one can doubt that. I was especially amazed at the 180 side hop between rail way lines then kick hop up onto the rail. I have been told that he rode with Hans Rey so im not surprised if hes amazing. (I am not definite of this, only been told) It did occur to me, for a minute pretending he rode a stock trials and still haad the same skills, would he do well in a trials competition? It is clear he is an amazing rider but there msut be alot of difference between having an hour to get something dialed rather than having one shot at it in a competition situation. Phil
  15. Clearly hs33's are massive in the world of Trials. I have seen them only in a good light as they feel firm and reliable. However, while out riding today the lever of my friends magura broke. It was a relatively modern version but inside the lever the metal snapped at the solid metal tube. This was fairly surprising as it was quite a large piece of metal to just snap in two, which ruined the days riding. So, in conclusion, they are brilliant brakes but understandably things can go wrong. Phil
  16. That is a very impressive website. I really enjoyed the video, the camera angles were done very proffesionally. Very stylish, the black and white colour scheme worked well in the urban enviroment. Cheers. Phil
