  1. Thats good to know tom, Cheers Ben g WST
  2. This makes me laugh because my mate bought a '06 magura hs33 and it was crap, but the packaging said FOR TRIALS USE ONLY!!! My green hs33s seem to work well though, and i'd not really want to spend more than the price of them for brakes, the maguras have a long history in trials. The maguras will win. Ben g WST
  3. Vice it on the bend, but progresivelly so that it doesn't crack/warp/fracture (they're pretty tough though). It works i've done it before. Ben G WST
  4. I saw a pair of the blue rock pads slipping, think i might try the coust pads. If they're good enough for the coustellier bros they're plenty good enough for me. B WST
  5. I agree, if it's not to badly bent just try straightening it out. It'll be weaker after straightening but should last a while, and atleast for the time it takes for a new disc to arrive if you got a new one (should be okay though). Ben g WST
  6. Seems a straight enough question. They look nice enough but it's true that it might break sooner rather than later because of the weight of it unless your a super light rider, but if you want one then that's all that really matters. Good luck mate. Ben g WST
  7. Thats expensive though if your on a budget?
  8. Sorry mate didn't realise you lived in canada, approx $750 - $800 i think. Any trials specific bike in that range should be good for starting on i reckon, go for something like an onza, monty, koxx or any of the other big companies. Hope thishelps mate. Ben g WST
  9. Tartybikes, Trialsman and my local bike shop for bits+bobs Somerset Bike Centre. Ben g WST
  10. Hi there mate, i'd say any trials specific mod/stock bike from tartybikes over £350 should be good enough to start on, and it'll probably take a while to learn but thats the fun really when your learning and you nail it. You'll either catch on quickly or it'll take a while, good luck mate, Ben g WST
  11. I'd say that there isn't a best setup because it's all about personal preference, but a good pair of v-brakes work well and so do maguras (i've setup hs11s to work just aswell as hs33s), but also avid cable discs and hydraulic discs. If you pay enough money you'll get a good brake. Try out other peoples bikes to get an idea of what you'd like, and maybe go for something you like the look of aswell! hope this helps, Ben g WST
  12. Try using a front wheel rebound to give your back wheel more height (zap-tap) watch your speed though, because for this technique you might not need that much speed or run-up, hope this helps. Ben g WST
  13. In theory as you pedal you keep the freewheel tight (atleast i think thats how it works), which means it shouldn't come loose. If it does then it's probably not fitted properly. Bg WST
  14. Crikey didn't know the forum was here to get at people, so much for trials changing as a sport. Seems to be getting bitchy. All someone had to say was that i'd made a mistake, but oh no you all slag of. Thats oh so big and hard, NOT!!!! ?
  15. Fair enough my mistake :$ just read what the description on the vid said, don't have a cow dudes. Ben g WST
  16. the proto frame is blue and seems not to have a seat, looks pretty sweet. Don't know anything else though. Have a look on youtube and type in winter air (it should say tartybikes, ali-c is on the ashton proto) Hope this helps mate, Ben g WST
  17. Echo tough bars are sweet, or zoo, both are good/strong, iether way you can't go far wrong. Ben g WST
  18. Cheers for all the advice guys, that really helps, Cheers Ben g WST
  19. The monty should be fine, but if you can get a 221pr instead of the 219 that would be better, Good luck mate, Ben g WST
  20. That giant mod looks very sweet. I ride a giant '05 stock trials bike and it's good for learning on or pushing yourself that much further. I have to say though that it's quite a short frame but it doesn't matter to much as i get on well with it. It would be interesting to know how the giant mod rides, and i think the hayes hfx brakes should more than adequate enough, Good luck, Ben g WST p.s Japan is awesome (i'm so jealous)
  21. Well if it makes your frame sweat use some Anti-Perspirant, that'll cure it, hehehehehehe WST
  22. Taya singlespeed, but no problems with it at the moment. I'm just thinking abit ahead at the moment thats all, and just trying to get an idea of what i'll get chain wise. Thanks for the advice Moza, appreciate it mate. Cheers Ben g WST
