I've got an Echo Control 116mm and use the snail cams that came with my Zoo fixed hub. Problem is... the snail cams are dented like cheese and they're at there max to keep any tension on the chain. I ordered some Monty cams and guess what? They're too small to fit on the hub Does anyone know what snail cams would fit? I think removing a link in my chain would make it too tight. Also... the chain becomes slack after about half hour of riding! I was thinking of getting a 74Kingz, but my mate's had no end of trouble and to be honest I'd rather not have something that could get snapped off. What do others use with 116mm 26" frames? Cheers, Fyfey

Getting old now... Athlon64 3500+ @ 2.21Ghz 1 Gig Corsair RAM (2x512 pair) Radeon X850 2x80GB Seagate SATA drives (in RAID 0) 17" CRT Here's an old pic I found:

Nice, cheers for that. It's a good idea to make the tool for the lockring out of wire. I just used 2 Allen keys sticking up a bit in a vice, worked alright, but annoying to set-up!

Cheers for all the replies, helped alot fixing my Tensile! The lock ring came loose and got all gritty so I stripped it down, cleaned it with white spirit, lubed it with Finish Line and tightened it back up. Seems to have done the job nicely Here's a pic of it in pieces: It was damn fiddly getting the ratchet over the pawls/springs when it's still attached to the crank! It feels like new now, quiet, and much sturdier Cheers, Fyfey

Yeah, my mate also did this on the Echo external BB. Worked a treat
-
I also didn't think they looked bad at all. The creaking you are talking about could be coming from the headset or bars/stem?

Would Titanium bolts be any better do you think? Surely better than the Onza bolts anyway. There's some on Tarty for £9 a pair, I might give them a go - Link Cheers for the input

It's practically a brand new hub, pretty annoying paying £75 for a hub that has the "old" style axle. Here's a couple of pics... Bolts: Hub: Is there any way to change the axle to a beefier one? The M6 bolts look puny compared!

I have a front Zoo! hub and a rear one (20" spacing). I was tightening the rear bolts up and one of the heads of the bolts sheared off! I ordered a set of the Echo/Zoo/Adamant etc bolts off TartyBikes. I didn't think to check but the bolts in the rear hub are much thinner than the ones in the front. My mate has an Echo rear hub on his stock and they use the beefy bolts... is it just the 20" ones that use these flimsy bolts?? If so, which bolts do I need? Is there a way to make the larger hollow bolts to work on the rear hub? Cheers, Fyfey

You'd probably be best of with a grind on the back rim. I've been using Heatsink Snowy's and they seem very good. Only thing is in the wet on a smooth rim they were horrible. I'm now running "Coust-Sinks" with the CNC backings and a light sharp grind, haven't ridden with them long, but they're apparently very good... very noisy

I've always "Wanted to be able to do that" when I've seen trials riders about. And recently 2 of my mates got Trials bikes... So I saved up a bit and got one. I love it because it's such a progressive sport. Nearly every ride you can see yourself improving slightly, and one move can branch out to other moves etc. And the bikes look damn sexy Fyfey

After drinking a few too many Cpt. Morgan + Coke's I went for a ride in my mates garden... I found it really helped my riding. I was going for stuff which I'd never normally attempt and making a lot of it. Just don't try anything stupid or you're bound to end up hurt.

I heard that the Onza Woodstock's are prone to snapping I have no experience with one, just someone said that on here a while ago. Fyfey

I use my broadband connection to host sites. Set up a Linux server with Apache 2 and DNS. Works great for small sites (i.e. not downloading massive files). So maybe wouldn't be good if you wanted to host trials videos. The IP address is dynamic, but it changes so rarely it's no problem to set up.

I managed to snap the 2 "rings" that go round the bars on my '05 lever... wasn't even that tight! I just got a new '05 lever for £30 and all has been fine. But a bit more gentle on the tightening now!

Here's a cheap Firewire card I found on Ebuyer... looks as though It'll do the job. Safecom PCI Firewire 1394A Card with 3 External and 1 Internal Port OEM £6.98

It has been discussed before that the new Zoo bars have less rise than the old ones. I'm no expert though
-
Yeah I was wondering about that. Probably quite slippery I would have thought. Still haven't had a chance to try it out I saw someone cover their ramp in chicken wire to add to grip. I'll see how it is and maybe add something to aid grip (or just ride it in nice weather).
-
It's got some nice weight behind it! All that 2x2 and Plywood makes it not slip about on the ground. I'll let you know how she rides, I haven't had a chance yet!

Might make a bigger one later on, now we know what we're doing... plus I'm not good at taps or anything at the moment! Yeah, it's gonna be an addition to the pallets. Won't be making any more soon as it was pretty expensive

We made a practice course in Harry's (Netherking) garden out of pallets and Scaffhold boards: We wanted something a bit more durable and permanent, so decided to get some wood and build something... Images may take a while to download, if it's ridiculously bad give me a shout and I'll host them elsewhere. Building base: Finished base: Front slope & Top: Added step at back: Reinforcements: It's sturdy!: With some stain: Reverse angle: Added some plywood: From inside fully clad: Almost finished: Reverse angle: Finished: Reverse angle: So there it is! Not bad for a first attempt I think. Final dimensions are: Height: 80cm Length: 160cm Width: 120cm Top width: 50cm Step width: 50cm Get your orders in quick! lol. Comments welcome

Very nice! A major improvement over the original paint job! Nice shade of blue for the forks and brake mounts as well, not too bright. Nice job Fyfey

Need Advise On The Hight Of The Front Of A Bike
fyfey replied to macy`d's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
I thought I'd prefer a higher front-end. I've got the HiFi stem (130x15) and Zoo risers. I was originally running it with 2 10mm spacers as well, but now I've got rid of them and prefer it a bit lower. Just a bit of rise to compensate for the BB rise. Fyfey
