Gonna be buying an old road bike v.soon and it will have the gear shifters on the frame, which is stupid imo. Dont want road shifters with the brakes so was wondering it is possible to just slap some MTB gear shifters onto the road bars? Im talking about if they will actually fit on the bars and if i can link the cables up ok?.. I know ill have to buy new cables as the ones on it will not reach to the bars. or will i have trouble finding shifters for a 12 speed? Would have found a road bike forum to ask this but im lazy.. im sure someone here will ride road bikes too Cheers Phil

Anyone had experience registering domain names? last one i had was like 7 years ago with uk2.net so i dunno who is the best these days.. is it just a case of who is cheapest as i dont need hosting? domain names cant really go 'down' can they? This always happens, someone starts a topic on here and people just go off on one about some stupid (just like I'm doing here) thing no one cares about, topic starter gets angry, topic locked. If some twat didnt say anything, I wouldnt have thought there was much wrong with that post as I didnt have much trouble reading it. Just looks like the rest of this forum to me, so why bring it up. I always thought there were infinate parallel universes where every scenario is played out, from little things like, finishing your drink or not finishing it, to big things like deciding what you're gonna do with your life. But both can have an equally large impact. Like the film, sliding doors.... And the butterfly effect, although they were quite life changing points in that film anyway. re: moving the island, did anyone play an old pc puzzle game like 15 years ago called dr brains island or something? i think lost is based on it... if not then i dont think they will move the island, maybe just do something with the magnetic field so they can no longer be found.. change the headings from 305/325 or whatever maybe?

I didnt fully read much of this thread but im just gonna go ahead and post some shit here anyway... Buy a Mac Mini. They are updating the processor and stuff soon so maybe wait for the new ones.. The student discount comes in 2 forms, one that is like 6% off or something that any old twat can use, student or not, and one that you can only use if you are signing in from a uni computer, other wise the link goes nowhere. that discount is maybe 10% or more, i dunno. As for the screen and crap, you can use any screen mouse and keyboard, they all work as long as its usb, some with work better than others. i got a razer mouse for my mac, was like £24 and its better than a mighty mouse. have a mac keyboard that is nice, £30. i would have stuck with a pc keyb but i use all the function keys loads. you can get a nice samsung 19' monitor now for like just over a hundred squid. i have one, its amazing if a little small.. as for software, when i got my mac a few months ago i tried hard to find all the same software i had for the pc, like msn, office etc.. then realised its all total shit and makes having a mac pointless. a mac comes with pretty much everything you need, like email and ichat, itunes and the likes. all i have extra installed is logic express and photoshop. as long as you dont install any dodgy 'pc software converted by blind monkeys' on the mac it will run super smooth. having said all that, my mate has a macbook and its hella nice. but unless you fully need a portable machine, get a mini... infact, i take my mini to college all the time and just plug in a monitor, works really well, and im the koolest kid in school now

yeh id like to keep with a more modern version, might just stick with cs3.. anyone know if you can just delete the other programs after install? like bridge etc?

i just formatted my mac and i now have a rule of 'no shite goes on the mac'. but i need a photoshop program! i know cs3 really well but when you install it, it puts loads of shit on the system and slows it down, tried gimp but the less said about that monstrosity the better.. any suggestions for what i could use? or is there a way of cutting down photoshop so it doesnt install bridge and photostock etc..?
