  1. Yeah you did! I was on my way to the gym. I also saw you, coming off the roundabout at Chineham business park. Why were you there?
  2. He says in the blurb that the 1998 engine was swapped for a 1996 because of its "billet" crank. In 1998 the only engines you could get for an A3 were an AGU which had a forged crank, and an AQA (from August onwards) which had a forged crank too. The concern for me is that he has later ME7 coil packs, so I think his 1998 car wasn't actually a 1998 car. Because after 1998 when they face lifted they dropped the forged crank in place of a cast one. Also worth noting that all 1.8t's are old now, and if he's bank rolled tens of thousands on a build like that then why has he fitted a £50 second hand crank. /grumpy
  3. "The donor engine was taken apart and fitted with a billet crankshaft from a 1996 model Audi A3, deemed stronger and therefore more reliable to accept the higher boost levels " This aggravates me.
  4. TF used to have a validation process, it started off with mods "validating" you so you could post in the main forums. Otherwise you were stuck in new members chat, which was terrible. Them it went to a voting type system where a certain number of people had to give you a post approval before you could post in the main forums. It was f**king fantastic.
  5. Took me 25 minutes to remove it on Monday night, and about 45 minutes to put it all back together this morning. Wahooooo I've fixed something.
  6. I'm just using my tax disc holder to store chocolate digestives now.
  7. The whole gnome thing has gotten out of hand, the woman's called the police.
  8. Penis. Remember that lad who joined up and had this idea to start a "we buy and bike" business and we told him it wouldn't work...then about 6 months later he was miiiiiinted and crashing Bentleys into clubs in London. Edited for accuracy.
  9. Robin is the man for aftermarket ECU's.
  10. Flipping badger bangers what a day. Totally car related. It appears that the "recession" is having a fantastic outcome for the mid to low power output and fuel consumption market. Today is the 30th of September so the end of the 1/4 where the 64 plates come out. And the day that 6 month mid year predictions become realized and announced. Today I've handed over 9 cars and 47 for this month, but across the board "small" cars are nationally outselling larger cars (Ford Focus size+) 7-1. From a numbers game I've done 50% more than I did this time last year. Quite an interesting statistic really, small car market share is up over 25% from last year and a whopping 40%+ from 2006.
  11. Having a degree in automotive engineering is about as relevant to driving a car as having a degree in physics makes you a fantastic gymnast.
  12. Do you understand how and why it happened though? That's the key to "using" it.
  13. Thanks for pointing it out though, I hadn't noticed.

  15. To prove that not everything in my life is perfect... Alternator packed up on Saturday night. Replacement was dispatched today. Went for a fully reconditioned one with a new pulley off eBay, £75 deliverered. So for now she is sat on the driveway in disgrace!
  16. Because it was rebuilt many times, because it was like all other hybrid turbos, just another hybrid cobbled together with bits out of bigger turbos. It's just a waste of money, I don't know a single person who has fitted a hybrid and been "happy" with it and not upgraded it within a couple of years. I think you'll follow suit eventually. Besides, most K03 hybrids struggle to see more than 270BHP. Fair enough K300's have gone up to K04 numbers. But my logic is... A K300 is £700 for the unit alone. A K04-064 could be fitted for another £3/400. A complete K04 setup is £350/400. And add the additional torque and low spool up of the K03 hybrid you'll be wanting rods too if you want to be able to sleep at night.
  17. They're shit. Turbos are made to a size for a reason, and hybrids never last. I'd rather have a K04 and 290bhp forever than a "more exciting" K03 hybrid for no more than 20k.
  18. Nope. Not true. Especially not on something that's only worth a grand.
  19. Piece of shit. Avoid like the plague. No tax, no MOT, dubious advert, maxpower mods. f**k that.
