  1. I live about 30 seconds from the Quay so I will see you there! )
  2. ok sounds good to me, I am free both Saturday and Sunday so just let me know when you want to ride. Anyone else up for it?
  3. Not too sure where I am going to ride at the moment. I need to get the new frame built up first, just waiting on some snail cams to arrive and hopefully should have it sorted for the weekend. I might just head down to Sandbanks again or just ride Poole. Plently of local spots to keep me amused and get use to riding the new bike. I'm off to Australia next week for a couple weeks holiday so dont really want to go riding anything to mental and risk injuring myself, knowing me I will end up catherterised, in a full body cast and eating through a straw. When I get back from Oz I want to get back into riding properly and maybe try doing some comps.
  4. Hopefully I will be on my new bike by the weekend!...... Cool Picture Karl! I really enjoyed riding on Sunday, sweet weather, awesome location and great riding. I haven't been out on a ride with that many people in years.
  5. Yeah was good a good one. So much so that I went home last night and bought a new frame........ I thought it was about time I tried riding some thing a little more modern. 1090, +35, 380, 71.5°. smiley face to whoever guesses what it is!
  6. Alright, I think I have just seen you ride over the flyover by the train station from my office window? I finish work at about six if you guys are still about I'll be riding down by the quay at about 6:15ish.
  7. Dont like Maguras, how about these frame flexing beasties!?!?! Old school hydro V's!!
  8. Yeah thats the one, it looked proper bang tidy!! I believe it was a leeson one. Leeson Bikes I might have to get one made for myself i think.
  9. but what else is there to do when you are stuck at work and cant ride your bike?
  10. I'd like to see a similar idea but with an intergrated bashring to fit 3 piece bmx cranks. I think Leeson and Pashley use to make something?
  11. I agree with what your saying with regards to different geometries help with different styles of riding but like you said i'm not sure people who ride dirt jumping bikes would like or are ready for more radical geometries. For me, one of the appeals of my dirt jumping/street/park bike is its 'swiss army knief' ability to do everything well but not excel in any one area. If you want a bike that can hack down a trail in the morning, hit the jumps at lunch time, shred the skate park in the afternoon and ride street in the evening there is going to have to be a comprise somewhere. In my opinion raising the bb height to help with spins seems to compromise the bike in some many other areas. Maybe there is a gap in the market for it but i'm not sure? With events like the nissan qashqai challange and all the slopestyle comps there are now which promote the uniting of all the different riding styles, the requirement for a 'do it all' bike seem pretty strong.
  12. You might be happy to take the hex dirt jumping but thats not to say a slightly lower bb isn't better for dirt jumping/freeride/skate park. As i'm sure you can appreciate alot of rider input goes into the development of a frame and i'm sure years of testing have lead to the current geometries of jump/street bikes being reasonalbly optimal for there current application and suit the majority of riders using them. with regards to the stable bike in a skatepark comment I'm not to sure what you meant? Sam Pillgrim, Blake Samson, Lance McDermott and most of the top freeride guys in the world rip up skateparks on jumpbikes with realitively low bb, stable riding bikes and it doesnt seem to hold them back! Its all down to personal preference at the end of the day, if there isn't an 'off the peg' option that is right for you there is always someone like marino who will build you a custom frame that is just what you want.
  13. The nices Pashley ever!! I remember going to that bike show and being blown away by Nelson Ries doing massive gaps and side hops on a Brisa b20. Everyone was saying "yeah bet he cant do the same on a B26" so on the sunday he rode one and was unstoppable. Does anyone know what happend to him? Anyways, check out the report and old school pics 2001 bike show
  14. A lower bottom bracket helps with high speed cornering and gives better stability in the air which is preferable for dirt jumping/trail riding/skate park stuff (i.e NS bikes target audience) I once tried using my old planet x MK5 with suspension forks as a jump bike, with100mm travel dirt jumper 1's the BB was just too high (circa +20) and it just felt sketchy and very nervous at speed and when in the air.
  15. This was only ever a prototype and is one of the frames that got people thinking outside the 'lower your seat, take off your toe clips' box. It may not be a looker but it was pretty revoltionary back in the day and I recon it helped pave the way for the current generation of trials frames. Pretty cool if you ask me.
  16. Ah I see, in which case again I always thought the MK5 planet X was a really nice for that too? nice and short and flicky. I've always thought that the bar and stem used makes or breaks the way a bike rides rather than the odd mm in rear end length or degree in head angle. A short stem with a bit of rise and some nice risers for the win!!!
  17. That is really nice! Personally the geometries aren't exactly my cup of tea but they are not far off what i would have gone for, maybe a few minor tweeks but nothing major, but then its not my custom bike. lol Hope you enjoy it, it looks awesome!! Not sure i agree, my planet X mk5 spins like a beauty on the front and back wheel! although saying that I think the planet x has a 74degree head tube. Guess it is all down to personal preference, riding style etc.
  18. I quite like the look of the gusset ones though, they're pretty clean looking. I was thinking about using a proper seat shim like this plus a bit of beer can as a fine shim to wedge it in. I wasnt sure how tight I would be able get it though, dont know if anyone else has tried this?
  19. Nice one! I'll drop by B&Q after work.
  20. Cheers, Araldite was what i had in mind, a trip to Halfords at lunch time i think.
  21. I am thinking of getting one of the gusset seats from tarty bikes for my megamo and using a shim and some sort of glue to bond it in (due to lack of space on the seat tube to use a clamp). Has anyone else done this before? If so what glue did they use? Cheers
