  1. Good work at Snett Georgos! I still need to get to Snett to see how the A3 goes there. I'm told it's a circuit that would suit it. Just a shame it's SOOOO far away. Congrats to Dann for taking on the batton of 'too many pics of same' - Have you removed the little black stickers that sat inside your grill Dann? To add a pic, not that anyone cares, here's a few of us at Goodwood a few weeks ago:
  2. I tried slack lining at the weekend, Rich setup a 10m line in our garden. Fecking difficult! I made it the whole way across once, but it took AGES! Properly good fun though
  3. Isn't it just a crappy 02J 5 speed in there? they typically go for £100 tops dude! Even if it's an 02M 6 speed, £150-200 tops for a decent used one. You'd swap it out in a day no trouble too
  4. Went to the Pistonheads Pub Club meet at the West Meon Hut last night. Lovely roads for the drive there and back, and good company Good night out!
  5. 350bhp Leon - Easy match for a 400bhp Skyline really. stock Skyline is only ~280 ish, and they don't go THAT high on standard turbos generally. I'm not surprised Fun isn't it georgos?
  6. is that because it's all checked online Ben? I was most surprised when they just scanned the V5 and didn't ask to see anything else either!
  7. Thanks for posting Shaun A huge loss, dan was one of the most naturally talented riders I've ever met. He was good at everything he chose to turn his hand to. I have many fond memories with Dan, from various rides and road trips all over the country with him and ash as passengers in my car. We had some thoroughly good times, even though I'd not spoken to him for some time as life takes it's natural course. He really was an amazing chap, and will be sorely missed by many. RIP Dan, thoughts are with your family now
  8. Good work adam! Craig: my 3'' ebay system really isn't that loud at all. it's far quieter than jardo's S3 system for example. it's also HUGELY cheaper than any other alternative, and really decent quality. Id be tempted to get the ebay system, spend £20 on an outward rolled tailpipe, and see how you like it. IF you found it too noisey, it'd be about 2 hours work and £40 to add in a proper centre box to drop the noise level right down.
  9. Don't buy a 996 911. they're over rated. Too soft the the track. Not practical or good enough for the road. Friend of mine had a lovely 996 years ago, decided it wasn't all that. Sold it and bought an m3, and LOVED it. fast forward 10 years, and he decided to give it another try, and bought a mint 996 C4. 5 months later, it's for sale again, and he can't work out why he even bothered. going back to an E46 m3 this time. he said the 996 was utterly shit on track, and a pain in the arse on the road. general all round faul. They're FULL of problems, engine failures etc etc, the 996 just isn't much good, unless it's a turbo or gt3 with the metzger engines. Cheap for a reason. buy something else.
  10. I look forward to watching this when i get home from work!
  11. There is nobody here called Easy.
  12. ^^ can't see the vid at work It's friday! wooooohooooooo!!!!!!!!
  13. you'll lose lots of power yes, and you'll need the map changing again too, back to what was on it before for the stock turbo All round sucks to be honest.
  14. Not cool man Are you absolutely sure? Sadly, things often go wrong with perfectly good cars when sold. Although it shouldn't matter, different people drive in different ways, and especially when you have a new car you tend to thrash it for the first few weeks, which will often show up hidden issues that the previous owner may never have known about
  15. it'll almost certainly be a boost hose popped off. All the smoke suggests too much fuel, because it'll be sucking in air and fuelling for it without that air getting to the engine. Follow the pressure run from the turbo right to the inlet jake and through the intercooler, somewhere, most than likely hidden under the bumper, will be a split or popped off hose.
  16. 182 looks good Dan. I hope Jake gets on well with the Ibiza too I've made a tarty style annotated video of near fails from my trackday on Monday, for those who can't be arsed to watch 15 minutes of the same thing
  17. Not had interwebs for a few weeks due to moving house. Should finally have it this evening so I'll catch up on the thread this evening. In the mean time, we went to Bedford again. Was fun!
  18. Good man! that's the spirit I guess the beauty of a 'near stock' championship is that in theory at least, rebuilding a new shell shouldnt be TOOOO much work, providing lots of yours has survived to be transferred over. Good luck with it mate, fingers crossed for you
  19. So sorry to see that Ads What's the current plan? Build a ground up tarty race car for next year using your super attention to detail? oR try and buy something race ready and adapt it so you can finish the season?
  20. Or 300bhp if it's FWD But they're SOOOOOOOOOO heavy
  21. I look like such a goon: But I'm oddly OK with that
  22. Awesome news Craig Get some pics up man
  23. Just got some pics through from Neil Birkitt of Volkswagen Driver magazine - Big thanks to Neil for sending these over - especially so quickly after the event! I really love this one:
  24. Yesterday was the first Club GTI Curborough Sprint of the year. CGTI usually run 2 days a year, in May and September. This was my first time attending a CGTI Sprint, and my second time at Curborough. AndyP came with me for the day, and we left mine at 06:30. No pictures. it was early! There were 22 cars in attendance, from standard mk2 8v GTI's, to turbo'd mk1's, mk4 track cars, and all sorts in between. I was the only non golf on the whole day! We took a vote in the morning, and decided to run the new figure of 8 layout in the morning, then switch to the old traditional layout in the afternoon to get times comparable to past events. Sadly, it rained LOTS early on, so no pics, and I didn't remember to film any of the morning runs on the new figure of 8 layout. was too busy having fun! It started to dry up a bit later though: A little pic of Gurds amazing mk1 - ABF turbo with a GT28RS. Such an awesome car! And a few pics on track that Andy took: Queing up to head out: There was lots of queing in the pitlane, and moving forward one car at a time. It got a bit tiring jumping in and starting it each time, so we found ourselves a Sam Gunn The day went really well, and I even managed to come home with something for the mantle piece Videos : https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Fh0NoMDjDcY https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=DqdIIOhmxLA Top day out
