Well my mate used a file and then wet and dry sandpaper after and got it pretty mint. There still was some wee gashes from the grind but he couldn't be bothered spending much more time on it. Basically the longer you sand it for the better it will get.

Don't bother with a grind. They weaken your rims. They go dead after a few weeks and you need to re-do them, they munch your pads quicker. Set the brake up good and get some awesome pads like snowy's and smooth rim is the best.
