  1. De-ionised water in the summer, Anti-freeze in the winter (obvious reasons)
  2. Nice you might wanna delete or put somethin up for the other thread you have made though
  3. 1) No idea. But its loads. You would have to contact each country's organising body an find out how many enter the comps, plus then you have your non comp riders. So who knows how many! 2) I remember (not sure how true) of a story about a guy riding in Japan who died at a world comp. This was many years ago, before I started competing at world level. 3) Havent seen Neil at a comp for ages. Last time I saw him was Tech 04 I think!

    Working Out

The rule is: if you are working a muscle to failure then you should allow 24-48hrs rest between workouts on that muscle. ie if you do lots of chest on a monday (bench press, press ups, flys) then you shouldnt work the chest again till at least wed. But this goes out the window if you are doing endurance work. ie low weight an high reps. But you still should allow the muscles time to recover. You can easily over train muscles an they wont have repaired themselves by the time you work them again. Therefore the rule comes about that you should only really train every other day. to give the muscles time to repair an recover. Even doing sit-ups/press ups every day can be too much. If you go to muscle failure. edit: thats the straightest answer any fitness instuctor/personal trainer will give you.

    Sat Nav

TomTom ***! Ease of use, an clear instructions when driving. Plus you can get a good price a Comet or some where like that. Or try on Ebay as you will get a good price on the older models (ie Go 300/500/700) They will be cheaper as the new models are out.
  6. I got to test that Rocket trials frame. Rode it first at Devon round of the Brits one year. I was testing it before I got my Saracen from MAD. Yep Scott im a bit of a hawk eye!! An yeah i am in Oz, 9am here, 25deg, sunny. Your all jealous I know it!
  7. Bottom right corner, Vaughn Wilson holding little Scott's bike for him!!! Scott is over on the left hand side in his Monty suit! I recognise the guy in the blue fleece, black jeans, with his hands behind his back as well. Looks a lot like Mik Huskinson. But I cant be 100% sure
  8. Long as they are real, im not bothered bout size. But a nice arse is always a winner!
  9. Do you mean BIU or UCI matt? All UCI dates will be on their site www.uci.ch They normally have dates up there as far in advance as they have the comps planned. (sometimes the next 2-3yrs)
  10. Chris, at my first bike trial comp there were NO mountain bikes of any size! everyone was on either a montesa (later to become monty) fantic or a converted BMX. My bro started on a converted BMX, Rayleigh Burner. My dad made an welded him a bashguard on it an put a granny cog on the front! Chris, remember the team trial at thriftwood. you rode in your cannondale top. Or do you not wanna recall that comp? Was a bit wet an muddy though I remember the first time I saw Ian Cooper ride. The Proflex with rock hard elastomers in the rear to kill the suspension, an P bones on the front. Those were the days that Akrigg rode for Monty on a 20"! And Terry Craig was still riding in elite. Jordi Rubio coming over to ride a Brit round an winning elite. I also remember the first time I rode against Vincent Hermance. Was at Buthier the first year the BIU's went there. Was amazing even then. He looked about 14! Rode with either foot forward, didnt matter. Belgium in 99. Danny Butlers first BIU world comp. Riding the Bilstein step!!! Ian Cooper winning Expert. Me an Stevie Thompson on the silver Saracens! First time I saw JJ as well.
  11. Scotty your a beast! Top pic: top: Stuart Matthews, "Mega" Mik Howard (Megamo importer) Ian Johnson, bottom: Eddie Tongue, some essex rider, Scott Wilson, another essex rider Bottom pic: Kurt Brain, Scott Wilson, Ot Pi, Sam Luscombe those were the days!! Peter Rew, I remember my first worlds in '97. Going with your dad an bro an the Holmes!! Dave Holmes was UK senior champ a few years after that. Monkey see Monkey do anyone?
  12. My first bike, Fantic trials. Proper old school. (Trials bikes being based on moto trials bikes!) Then going onto a Monty with 'roller' cable brakes (non fat back tyre) I remember when Meagmo first came out in the UK. I remember a mate of mine riding an early Monty with Triple clamp style forks, an HS11 Maguras (they looked more like moto trials brakes levers) My Bro getting trophies for 2nd/3rd place in the British Champs back in '88/'89!! Graded hills. No-one knew how to hop, let alone hop on the back wheel!!!!! Stuart Matthews being the best rider in the UK an struggling like hell at the Worlds! Martyn Ashton riding for "Mega" Mik Howard on a megamo 20" Riding my first UCI comp in '98. Seeing Marc Caisso for the first time !!!!!!!!!!! Peugeot trials bikes. Loads more stuff that I have probly forgotten over the years as well. (dam that lot makes me sound old )
  13. AMEN to that! How? I dont see how turning a room into a gas chamber is social! Smoking is really anti-social. I was out with a group of riders one night, we were having a meal. The one person in the group who smoked got up to go outside to have a cig. He left the group, how is that being social? Sorry, but smoking and drugs are something I feel really strongly about. From my point of view I dont see the point in either. My ex-girl started smoking weed an she changed as a person. An she always looked wasted! A mate of mine from school used to be the fastest runner in my year, he now cant run to the end of his lounge with out feeling like his lungs are going to come out his mouth because of smoking. I for one will be so happy when the smoking ban comes into force next summer. Bring it on.
  14. Well done to Dan, Lois an the british team for the great results. Glad Dan has made it to world master level, looking forward to next year. Great result for the team as a whole, think this is our highest ever overall placing (I stand corrected if not) I know Dan would like to thank Ben Slinger for helping him in Singapore and Lois for helping him in Japan. I know how hard it can be to compete at that level when you are on your own, and you are up against the odds. Hopefully next year I will have the funds an time off work to come to all the rounds with Dan. Still never been to Japan, must go!!
  15. You are driving in a car at a constant speed. On your left side is a valley and on your right side is a fire engine travelling at the same speed as you. In front of you is a galloping pig which is the same size as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is a helicopter flying at ground level. Both the giant pig and the helicopter are also travelling at the same speed as you. What must you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation? Scroll down............ Answer: Get off the children's "Merry-Go-Round"! You're pissed!!!
  16. DAM sounds like I missed a good event! Glad you did well Bob, an great to hear that Dan made the final, he just keeps getting better!!! Hopefully I can get the time off work to make it out to Spain, at least, in Oct!
  17. I have a Thumpstar 120pro They are really good. Your best off with a thumpstar or Xsport, they are very similar. Danny Butler has a mad 120thumpstar! its sersiously rapid! Some of the stuff he has: Takegowa rev box Modded coil Pro Circuit T4 pipe five0 Frame an swing arm I-shock Uprated fork springs 12"front wheel He is mental on it as well, very quick, proper moto-x mentality!!!!
  18. Well said that man. I think the start time should stay as it is. There is such a thing as a video recorder, or you could always tune your radio into 'talksport' and listen to it.
  19. My dad has been on holiday this last week, so I went to silverstone today to watch 600bhp Skylines go sideways at 100mph!!!!
  20. 4euros, wow now that equates to about £2.40. Not a bad entry fee. Thats a shame about you losing the place by one mark, glad you got to ride an see what its all about. Well done to Ash for winning his class. That boy will be a beast when he starts to grow!!!!!
  21. I saw the results page on the graz trial site, glad danny rode well I know what he is like! When he tries hard, he tries hard. Send everyone my best, hope you, Ash an Rob do well tomorrow mate.
  22. Glad you have seen the full extent of Dans illness now Joe! See what I have to put up with every time I am with him!!! Some pics form Graz HERE Looks like it was Vincent 1st, Thomas Ohler 2nd, Marc Cassio 3rd, and Kenny Bealey 4th! Flying Dab by Charles Diaz! Mental looking zones. Looks like it was a good trial though. Benito's hair is just getting better
  23. All these ways of preventing sweating are ok if your not exercising, but if your are then you run the risk of over heating your body. Not good at all. Might feel something like trying to sprint on the spot in a sauna! Sweating is also a natural way of cleansing the skin, so try not to block the pores either.
  24. Generally speaking the fitter you are the more efficient your body is at controlling its core temperature. ie you sweat more. (dont think your unfit if you dont sweat that much, everyones body is different and has a different way of cooling its self) Also the more body mass you carry the more you body has to work at cooling its core temp. So if you are over weight or have a large muscle mass you tend to sweat more. Wear "wicking" fabrics that pull moisture away from the skin surface, and drink plenty of liquids. The more you sweat the more need there is to replace them. Small amounts and often is the best way, otherwise liquids can sit heavy in your gut and cause a stich. I sweat a lot too, my body warms up very easily. I dont feel the cold that much though!
  25. Seems strange that you have to invite the parents to the wedding Thought that would be a silly thing to do, they are pretty much supposed to be there! Seeing as he is supposed to 'give his daughter away' an all! Call me old fashioned, but I thought that is was the brides folks who sorted everything anyway! I agree with the others though, you just need to go talk to him, find out why he is using such a poor excuse to ruin his daughters life! (but be a bit more diplomatic liam) ps. was nice meeting you up hanley the other nite liam, hope you've not punctured that tube yet! get yourself a dual-ply rear!!
