Has anyone tried drilling and threading holes in a truvativ crank (GXP,Howitzer)?
I mean DH or 1.1 cranks without holes for a small sprocket?

I have done it on a Shimano crankset with a 24 mm axle. It was for a dirt bike and it worked perfectly. I changed it for something more use-intended afterwards.

Well, maybe you feel terrible, but the bike looks lovely! haha.

Just keep riding - it'll come!

Rode it 5 times since I built it now. I feel a lot better now but I still lack so much control over it. I kind of found my personal heights back. Like pedal up around 1 m 30 sidehop 1 m but it's all about the feels I don't have on some moves or obstacles. I guess that's down to the fact I rode 20" for so long and using that long stem. I might change it sometimes for something shorter.

That was kind on the idea I had. I wanted a V brake boss with an M5 bolt under it. But I forgot you need the holes for the spring to go into them. That could work I guess.

    Yes / No.

Rare, they work, they are good, nothing else about and Steve might be back one day

Oh agreed they are clearly one of the best options out there. I guess it's shipping that makes them expensive to me. I sure hope Steve is back one day, he was a top guy.

In america it goes beginner, sport, expert , pro.

Lots who go carthy bars in the top uci circuit look like they cannot ride a bike anymore, absolutely horrendous riding. Looks so wrong, so awkward.  Like a woman giving birth to a 1300 pound blue whale, it shouldnt happen.  it looks horrible. Looks like they can barely ride a bike, Like they just learned how to back hop. But they go up a 3 m wall...

I couldn't agree more with you. Everytime I read or hear the level of some is impressive I am horrified by the lack of what I would call style in their riding. It's just that generation who wants to go too fast and learn how to go high before having any control over their bike. For example when you watch young Spanish riders ride, you have to admit what they go up to is unbelievably high, but they way they do is really not nice to watch. Dani Baron comes to mind and I am sorry to say this as of course he is an incredible rider. Plus they all look the same when riding their bikes now. There was some days you could watch a replay of comps on YouTube and recognize riders' riding even with 140P quality video. Nowadays, they absolutely look all the same because they all want to imitate what the top riders do but way too fast...

yes some are over an hour right ?!? Love it ... I really only like watching carthy and charlie and that slovakian mod guy... Some stock guys look like they are riding sport level but appparently the moves are huge... just so so so so awkward.  Charlie and jack are the only ones that look proper evolved w them funky bars

What do you mean by sport level?

This, it really doesn't benefit most people, they just see the elite do it and assume it's the key. I'm pretty sure it hinders most riders.

Fashion is one's of trials' most underrated negatives. I won't even talk about wearing tiny shorts over lycra, but if definitely doesn't help for setups too. HS33 are not the best brakes for the backwards motion still every company only builds frames with HS33 as an option...

Agree, but compared to the 1200 mm of modern enduro bikes, it will still feel crazy short.

Buying a 1100 WB comp bike won't be a solution neither...

Street/trials bike feel really awkward for a MTBer, even a 26". The head angle, the bar height, the short chainstays...

I think a 26" street/trials makes more sense for someone who already owns a dirt jump bike.

For someone who only owns an enduro bike, I guess it is much a matter of what kind of riding one wants to do: more spinny things, more BMX oriented or more natural trials things.

The thing I find the most disturbing coming from my dirt bike, my trail bike or my FR bike is the stem length! Feels like you're driving a bus on a trials bike haha

  8. Dropping the front helps for front wheel moves but won't help for getting that rear wheel up.

All you can do really is train a lot, spend hours on a bike when you do, try to ride everyday and push harder every time you do, and live a healthy life. You can even try hitting the gym but I would not recommend it as it doesn't really help with bike control...

The body learns and recovers way slower at 30+ than before. You have to keep that in mind and you really have to stay motivated if you want to progress at that age. For that there is nothing to do really except enjoying what you do and how you do it. Endorphins help with that but they come with pain so go ride hard!

(The hack on the Jistsie is also quite nice, but I still prefer to avoid the problem - see Crewkerz 😂)

Go for it bro. I maybe can get a big brand to work on them... More on it later if that happens. Most probably in July!

The Heatsink ones were really the best as far as I know but I have doubts they could go on my carbon forks or on the brake mounts on the Cleep 2 brake area. I actually don't know if any can fit as this frame has a weird brake area compared to other frames.

I would also prefer having two pairs of the same adapters so I could go dual Vees on my bike.

I have a pair of echo adapters. You'll need V posts, but they should be available. Message me with your address and we can figure out shipping, I'm in the USA. Cheers

That's great from you but I am in no hurry. And I can't say Ali hasn't peaked my interest with what he has shown.

It would need a slight revision before it’s ready to be used fully, I think I can’t get these to work but it wouldn’t be possible to sell them as-is

Well, that's alright as I have plenty of time. Please let me know if you or Euan are ready to sell some to me and others maybe? Thanks a lot!

Another vote for making your own, I made some with nothing more than a hacksaw, vice, drill and tap.

i tried a few designs and even 3D printed some other ideas until I found one that seemed to work really well.

The shape wasn’t ideal to machine though so Euan Beadon helped adjust the design slightly and then machined a batch for me (thanks Euan!), annoyingly even though everything worked well in the 3D print there were some clearance issues with the alloy ones, a spacer under the post would fix it but I haven’t gotten round to doing that yet.

Well this is superb! I don't know anyone here that could machine anything like that. Could Euan make some more? I would pay for that!

You can just make your own dude, there isn’t anything too complicated and you can play with the design (at your own risk, of course). I’ve made quite a few adapters and they’ve all worked pretty well. I’m sure you’ll figure out the dims but one tip from me is make sure you use a pillar drill!

Are you based in the uk? I can post a piece of aluminium flat bar and bosses if that helps?

    Cheers,

    Nas

Wow that's awesome work. I live in France and don't have tools to make this kind of part right unfortunately.

  14. I own a Crewkerz Cleep 2. I will try and post some photos of the brake area but it's definitely impossible for the carbon forks. What I thought was drilling a V-brake boss and inserting a non ended M5 bolt in it so you could screw it in the existing M5 Maggie thread on the frame. I don't know if I am clear enough...

  15. Hey, I finally managed to get a perfect bleed out of both my front and rear levers. They feel nice but HS33 is not my cup of tea. They are noisy, ever so slightly slippy if you hop backwards, and require too much maintenance to stay at their highest standard.

I just want V-brake but it seems difficult as I can't find adapters anywhere.
