  1. Howdy y'all i just moved up from new members. But to my question I find myself in the position to purchase a new frame, and have decide on the 24" genere. So i have narrowed my choice to these 2 frames. The inspired fourplay and the heatsink 24 uk. Inspired fourplay pros. Looks great , simple clean lines, very popular, can take serious abuse, inspired fourplay cons. No disc mount on the rear, higher bb than the 24uk, price. 24uk pros. Cheaper than the inspired, rear disc mount. 24uk cons. Looks, unknown quality, I would appreciate all in put on this subject as im very much stuck on this one! Thanks guys.
  2. A 24" street trials bike seems to be the way forward! Im in the same position as you mate i want to ride street trials so im getting one soon! My chosen frames so far is the inspired fourplay (which danny mac rides) or the heatsink 24uk mk2. The set up is personal preferanace mate but i would say these things for a street set up. Run street tyres, run a harder gear that a normal trials bike. Ie 22:16 or 18:12. And make sure u run about 40mm of stackers under your stem. And as for style try watching some vids of danny mac, bmx videos and also tricktionary is good to. Hope i helped a bit
  3. I think one of the reasons is most other types of riding are not as accessable. Downhill is major expensive and u need to travel quite some distance for some good runs, crosscountry is boring and not helped by its image. Dirt jumping in the uk is very underground and the nanny state councils dont help flattening the trails everytime u build em! So trials and now street riding is gettin bigger now because u have all u need right outside your door! The scene in europe especially France, Belgium and Spain is huge and has been for a long time now! In the states u got the right terrain and loads of space for all kinds of extreme sports like freestyle motocross, downhill mountainbiking and stunt riding on superbikes. I guess we just took to trials riding better than most.
  4. As in a earlier thread i was interested in a possibe switch to 24 inch someone mentioned and onza zoot. What are they? Whats the geo? What do they ride like? Anyone? Thanks
  5. Was anyone else really disapointed with the measley one paragraph that mbuk gave the whole london ride out. They fill the whole magazine month after month with dribble about grant fielder and steve bloody peat. Slope style and downhill are NOT the only disaplines of mountain biking! Back in the day the martins even ran the whole magazine for one issue and it was awesome! But now we get nothing! Danny mac is one of the most talented riders in the universe! And he got nowt! Am i being over sensitive?
  6. Im fairly confident with the old spanners and allen keys, i used to strip my motocross bike on a weekly basis even stripped the carbs on my old mans zx9r when he werent looking! Lol so i would be able to maintain the brakes on my own. but im dead set on a twin disc set up for my bike. I just dont trust rim brakes anymore!! 7. Ah a Newbury man. Not too far from my neck of the woods! I live in andover and have ridden Newbury lots over the years but never as a trials rider. There is some good stuff to ride if you know where to look! Last time i rode Newbury i got bruised balls and dented pride at the skate park when a barspin went wrong! As for the hub a chris king is uber expensive but worth it! The hope should be a good bet as a LOT of riders use them! Was just a thought but i know they weigh alot but why not try some of the single speed dirt jump hubs? They are bomb proof and the new dmr runs a 6 pawl engagement system They come with a hardened steel sprocket. Just a thought like! I think im Gunna use one for my 24uk.
  8. At the least i could run is one on the rear cuz you cant get 24" rim brake mount forks! So its disc all the way upfront! I find it hard to put my trust in rim brakes for a while now watching my trials riding mates re bleeding them and fixing split hoses! Dont want the hassle. But i will take all these posts under consideration.
  9. I would use one finger on the lever like everyone else does! Why did u wanna know that?
  10. Maguras are gash imo i did have one on the front of my monty for about a month and it blew up 3 times! I do wanna use a dual disc set up on my bike which will probably be a 24uk. Magura louise brakes seem to be the standard kit on disc equiped bikes. Everyone seems to like the bb7 but i dunno if cable or hydraulic is the way to go? Cable is less maintainance intensive but hydraulic seem more predictable. So maybe i should look into the magura louise and the avid bb7
  11. As i am a recent convert to trials, i wouldnt have the 1st idea of a good set up but you guys seem to rate the bb7 very highly. I had a hayes hfx9 for years which was on my azonic dh bike, my monty urban, my azonic hardtail, my mongoose ritual and is now in my tool box waitin for me to bleed it! But it looks a bit haggard now! So im lookin for some fresh brakes for my new ride! Anyone had experience of shimano disc brakes? Thanks for all the comments and suggestions guys:)
  12. Disc brakes. What are you guys thoughts and suggestions? I have hear that avid bb7 are good with a xtr lever. Majority of riders have hope mono trials, but im very weary of hope brakes i have had 4 now and had nowt but problems! Im looking at other options now so any advice is very welcome. Thanks
  13. I must admit the inspired looks gorgeous! Especially in blue or brown. The only thing i dont like is its 4 bolt brake mount only and i prefer rear disc set up. Im thinkin carefully about my next purchase i have been lookin at the zoo pitbull but i wont be a serious trials rider so maybe 24" is the way to go. The geo of the 24uk sounds good, real short, flicky and bmxish and it has a rear disc mount:)
  14. I never thought of it that way before maybe they are better for ex street hardtail addicts like me! What one are u considering? I know of the inspired fourplay the heatsink 24uk and the ashton effect but thats it
  15. I was just thinking this afternoon does any one in the new members ride 24" trials bikes? Im very curious about them. I mean what do they ride like, are they any good? are they worth it? Or are they just a 5 min fad? let me know what u think guys. cheers
  16. Right sorry i wasnt clearer! 1040wb is this wb= wheelbase the distance between the rear wheel axle and the front wheel axle. 1040 is the length 1040mm between front and rear axle. The shorter the wheel base the easier the bike will be throw around but it will be less stable. The longer the wheelbase the more stable it is but less flickable it will be. As for websites try WWW.TARTYBIKES.CO.UK they have just about every thing you could want! They sell pre build bikes and also you can spec your own bike with a variety of frames, wheels, brakes, cranks and so on. Have a look and the drop them an email about a bike. As for your other question of the 26" being heavier than a 20" yeah they will be but only by half a kg or so not a huge difference. But the choice is yours my friend hope i helped you a bit more this time
  17. my heart is sayin the zoo, just cuz it looks absolutely lush! But i have been told by a friend that has been riding trials for over 10 years now that the adamant a1 and zoo pitbull are basically the same frame? The geo sounds good i dont really want a major high bb as it makes me feel too far over the front end if u get my drift? As for the build im thinkin keeping it black and white, halo djd white rear hub on a trialtech rim, onza front rim with a white trialtech disc hub, trialtech cranks with the twin bash ring white dmr v8 pedals, black stem (undecided!) white deity bars, half link chain, xtr v brake on the rear with heatsink pads and a avid bb7 up front. What do u think? I got some of the parts at home already. Let me know what u think! Cheers:)
  18. I dont mean to be a spesh but how do i pm your brother? Thanks mate
  19. I dont mean to be a spesh but how do i pm your brother? Thanks mate
  20. You have my attention! Lol! Do u think he may sell? Bearing in mind it wont be for a week or two so as i can get some dollar together. I dont suppose u know the geo of it? Thanks for that post bud
  21. Well hello everyone on trials forum. My name is scott im 24 and i live and ride in the andover, i currently im riding a modified saracen hardtail for trials which is Not best suited! I attempted trials a few years ago with a monty 230 urban. But i didnt keep it up due to my motocross habit! But after a few years away doin other stuff im back to riding and givin trials a proper go! So im learning from scratch basically. I hope to get myself a (real!) trials bike by the end of the year hopefully a zoo pitbull with the 116mm rear end. Hope to get some pics of my current bike uploaded soon. My hobbies are trials (obviously!) street riding, a gt chucker hard tail. I used to ride motocross but a serious injury put an end to that! I enjoy fishing and drawing to relax abit after work! My favourite riders are Danny Macaskill, Jack Meek, Martyn Ashton, Ryan Leech and Danny Holroyd. Anyway ill talk to all at some point on here. Cheers.
  22. Thats where i saw most of them! I was tryin to get the opinions of riders that have one or had one in the past. I know its my choice in the end! Looks wise its the zoo! Does any one know the geo of any of the other frames i mentioned?
  23. I have my saracen built up for trials but its not best suited for the job! It has a massive 40mm bottom bracket drop! And that has its draw backs, so i was thinkin of for my next frame either a, zoo pitbull with the 116mm rear end the geo sounds good with a 1015wb and a +15 bb. My other choices were the onza t-rex, adamant a1 with the 116mm rear end or a onza limey 2. I have around 2-300 quid budget. It will be used entirely for urban riding only. Any comments or other suggestions more than welcome. Thanks guys. Peace!
  24. Hi there i am fairly new to trials also, but have been riding mountain bikes for many years. As for what you said maybe talk to some of your friends that ride trials and ask to ride their bikes to get a feel for them. A rough guide: Mod bikes: are easier to learn on as they are lighter and smaller but are more twitchy to ride. Stock bikes: are longer and heavier but more similar in feel to a MTB so will feel more comfortable. Also wheel base and riding style are to be thought over too! 1075wb or more with a low front end will be better for natural riding, 1040wb or less with a higher front end will be more suited for street/urban riding as for price i built my bike for less than £200 i would suggest lookin on ebay for parts or ask other riders and see if they have anything. Um i think that is about every thing i can think of i hope i have helped or cleared things up bait for you.
