  1. being able to jump higher off the bike usually translates to higher jumps on the bike, i.e. the higher you can jump the further you can get the bike. It may seem obvious but technique can only get you so far.
  2. GO 24'' YEAH!... i'm around 6'- 6'1'' and i love my fourplay, but as other people suggested, you might want to try some friends frames before settling down on one.
  3. I just used a rotary wire brush head with my drill and worked down the paint. Took around 20 minutes (first time grinding ever) but the result was a nice light/ medium in some areas grind with only a drill and $4.00 pad attachment.
  4. nice riding man, hope you get your frame problem sorted out.
  5. I was hoping to use the sus fork only while i was learning to absorb some of the force my elbows/wrists would have otherwise taken. I was going in with the intention of using a rigid fork as i progressed and learned how to take softer falls. Right now i've only been working on rear wheel hops working up to pedal kicks, so i dont spend too much time using my front wheel. As for weight i'm not too concerned with adding an additional 2 pounds as it wouldnt make a difference to me as a beginner. I was hoping for a cheap sus fork, preferably under $100 USD, however im not sure if they make sus forks that cheap (i assume they do) but i also dont want a piece of crap, or something over 5 or six pounds. I also go to physical therapy 3 times a week to work on my rotator cuff because of tennis, so i'm really trying to avoid further arm problems, but i will eventually be switching back to a rigid.
  6. Well it's summer time which means i have the chance to practice for 2+ hours a day and i'm beginning to feel the wear and tear. I've only been riding for about a month on my fourplay (2 months riding trials) but two months of practicing catwalks (or so ryan leech calls them) and attempts at pedal kicks, has left my wrists and elbows very sore. I wanted to look into the chance of replacing my rigid echo fork with something more forgiving so i can continue to practice at the same pace. I know suspension forks are usually frowned upon because they usually waste energy when performing certain moves, yet i know there are people out there who use them. I plan on riding mostly street trials on my fourplay, no comps or anything. I was wondering if people could give me their experiences with suspension forks and/or recommend one for me to buy.
  7. go bigger. You seem to have pedal kicks and back hops down, not to mention your almost fully suited in safety gear (one reason i hesitate to go big) push yourself to improve. You have to want it.
  8. ah, i was worried i might have to change the axel, I was hoping for an easy on easy off sort of thing just so i could experiment with bmx a little more. I'm running an onza fixed hub (6 speed from tarty) with the stock screws. If i cant scrounge up longer screws ill have to try on the stock ones, new hub comes last : (. Thanks for the advice.
  9. Well after seeing dave marshall's video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92rMlZfmkJE, along with numerous danny mac vids of him riding street, i wanted to get 2 bmx pegs installed on my fourplay. So yesterday i took a trip down to my local bike shop to ask them about the pegs, and showing them my bike they said it was impossible. Yet a few of my riding buddies have told me it is, and you can clearly see dave has a peg on his rear axel. Is there a special type of peg i need? I have no idea how to set up a peg on a trials bike so all help is greatly appreciated. If you need pictures or specs, i will be more than happy to comply.
  10. your bike still works without the booster right? lol. If you bent it buy a new one or ride without, if you straighten out the old one it might flex and not serve it function as well if at all.
  11. That sucks man, I hope you find your bike. Good luck.
  12. That bike looks lovely, i really like those bars.
  13. Thats awesome dude, i too just got my inspired like a week ago. I've been primarily practicing my trackstand whenever i can, i.e. stoplights, waiting for runs, riding slowly, and my balance has gotten much better. Yesterday i also tried learning how to bunny hop i guess it would be the american way because you lift your front tire first, throwing your weight back, then throw it forwards and bring up the rear. I should be practicing backwheel hops as i really want to get my pedal kick down and start side hopping and such, but i would say (in order) trackstanding/ balance bunnyhops rearwheel hops pedal kick to rear wheel hops.
  14. Thanks Tom, that pic is really helpful, i think im gonna go to my local bikeshop and see if they can set me with it.
  15. I have some DMR moto tires (front and back) and im running them around 40-45 psi and they ran fine at a street park. They felt a little funny when dropping in, but otherwise i'd say their perfect.
  16. alright thanks, i have the same tensioner, (came with the bike) hopefully ill be able to sort something out, thanks for the replys everyone.
  17. Well I recently received my fourplay, and im used to riding a mile or two to my favorite spot but its now a pain in the ass to get there. Has anyone ever added a second gear on their rear axel without a de-railer? Ideally i just want a smaller cog (or larger?) so that i could manually move the chain from one cog to the other depending on whether i was riding to my location or if i was riding trials. Would this screw with my chain too much? Could i make it work without a derailer?

  19. Along the line of hightop skate shoes, Nike SB makes some sweet mids which are nice, idk about riding in them though. The best would probably be some low top skate shoes. i.e. vans, DC, Lakai, are all big US brands. I personally use manchester selects which have worked fine for me. But if your dying for ankle support, you could always wear ankle braces such as Mcdavid ones (USA) im not too sure about the UK but there are probably similar braces. Good luck.
  20. Very nice riding, can't get enough of the HD videos.
