    Pets?

Same with the German Shepherd we've got at the moment, he has epilepsy, has to have 3 pills in the morning and 3 at night and has to have special diet food because they made him put on weight to begin with and it costs as absolute bomb each month. Before the one we had at the moment, we had another alsatian, she died during the night when a tumor that we didnt realise she had, ruptured, about a year after that we decided to get another dog as it just doesnt seem right when after years of there being a dog around etc you all of a sudden dont have one, so i'd still think about getting another dog eventually.

    Pets?

Yeh i agree but some people see animals as being toys and if they are broken, just get a new one. Which is annoying as they shouldnt deserve to have animals in the first place (wasnt aimed at the people above by the way, i was just saying, incase anyone starts bitching) Sorry to hear that anyway, what is wrong with the dog that it calls for this to happen anyway? I suppose you jut move on and get over it eventually to be honest though, like everything else.
  3. It was an alright episode, but not good enough, i mean the only people they really needed to show in that episode were tony and maxxie, the others seemed to be in there for no reason at all, apart from the fact they were in the last series. Hopefully the rest of the series will be better, but then tv shows seemed to always get criticised in the second series.
  4. Well if it was put in place, it would be rather amusing seeing all the customers simply going to a different ISP and them losing lots of custom, plus im sure all the 'techy' people out there will find some way around it. It's probably just another way so that they will scare some people into stopping doing it. Whilst on the subject, from what i gather 'backing up' DVD's that i've already bought is not illegal or wanting to get it on my ipod, as long as im not using it to sell onto anyone or anything like that, then is it illegal for me to download a copy because none of the software out there ive found can get rid of the protection?
  5. quick question. How can i get my screen to turn off, without stopping the the things i am doing on the computer. I want to close the lid and leave it for a few hours whilst i'm downloading and converting videos etc, except if i'm downloading then when i shut the lid, the connection is cut off. Is there anyway around this? EDIT: or is it alright to just turn the energy saver off so that it doesnt put itself into sleep mode and just turn the brightness all the way down to save power?
  6. Cant be bothered to start a new topic...so.. Ipod headphone warranty - The headphones that came with my ipod touch back in september have gone a bit crappy, the bottom part (the bit that goes into the ipod itself) the jack or whatever its called, where the cable starts at that end has come apart and the wires are now showing and starting to fray and i give them a few days before it breaks, although they work fine at the moment. So are these covered under the one year warranty and under this kinda of damage although i dont even know what actually know what caused it?
  7. Yeh you should just be able to re-authorise the computer and you will get the music back. I had all my music and the odd songs i had bought off itunes on my old desktop PC, i then transferred all my music onto my mac (apart from the ones i bought), entered my apple ID details to log into itunes, then authorised the computer, connected my ipod, checked for purchases and got the songs back. As for everyone who hates itunes and ipods, whats the justification behind it (apart from it taking quite a bit of processing power)? I've found the ipods to work without any real problems and itunes is fine, as i prefer the GUI and find it easy to sort out all my music etc.
  8. i looked on imdb and it doesnt air till tomorrow for some reason
  9. I've got 70, what do i win?
  10. Just a quick one, I've already tried searching but cant find any info on this. Basically, you get the power adapter (the brick thing) and the power cord (to make the cord longer) and the little plug you can attach to the power adapter with the macbook, the power cord fits very nicely into the power adapter, yet i dont need a cord that long and wanted to just use the plug instead, yet for some reason, even with quite a firm bit of force, it doesnt want to go in? When i start pushing harder it starts making cracking noises, so i dont really want to try too hard incase it breaks. Do i have a dodgey plug, or does it just need some umph when i push it, although the power cord slides on really easy.
  11. Thx for the help, ive partitioned the drive and now it works fine Quick question though, My keyboard isnt working? Have i accidentally pressed a button that locks the keyboard somehow, or is it just not working? I cant restart the macbook at the mo because im in the middle of something thats going to take an hour or so still. It did it earlier, but then it started working again, but now its stopped completely. EDIT: It's now decided to work again :|
  12. Just got my macbook, i ordered it yesterday at around 4pm online and it came this morning to my total surprise but im not complaining! Anyway, ive got an external drive i use for one of my pc's and wanted to instead use it for the mac, i've noticed i cant add folders etc to the drive and looked up on t'internet and found that macs cant write onto NTFS formatted drives. So how do i go about making it usable on the mac? Another question, what do you guys use to convert DVD's to .mp4, i know that handbrake is good for converting, but what applications do you use for getting rid of the copyright protection? Cheers!
  13. Thanks for the replies helping me decide on getting a macbook, im mainly going to be using it for image editing, web design etc and general document work and whatever else i decide on taking up. Oh and one more thing before i finally order it, as it comes with 1GB RAM standard, i was thinking of getting more, now on the apple website, it says that for 2GB ram its an extra £80, and for 4GB is an extra £507!!? Do they use diamond encrusted RAM sticks or something? I found some sticks that are 2GB for £27.99 Linky which seems a very good price , just wondered why apple are charging so much for RAM off of them, plus is that RAM in the link any good and how easy is it to fit into the macbook? Thx!

  15. Not really a problem, but this is probably the most relevant thread for mac info. I'm looking at getting a macbook and ive never used a mac before or know much about them as ive always been a PC person, so just need to clarify a few thins that have popped up whilst looking into them. All i really want it for is for college work, design and editing etc and im sure they are perfect for that. Firstly, when buying one, have any of you bothered getting the apple care thing? It seems like a lot for something that i may not use, just wondered whether any of you use it and have ever needed it, or not got it and needed it? Secondly, I've also got 2 pc's and a laptop in the house already and im assuming theres no trouble in just connecting the macbook up to the network and sharing folders etc? Thirdly, Also i have all my work (word, excel, database documents etc) on my PC, what software do mac's use to support these kind of files, is it a case of converting the files to be used for macs, or can they just be used straight from the original files? and what is the realistic battery life of the macbooks like? ooh and i assume theres no problem me using the 'educational discount' thingy to buy it, as i was reading in previous posts saying you need to be between 16-18 years old, yet that doesnt really cover people my age (19) and those in uni? Chees guys

    Ipod Touch

Completely up to you, the 8GB version is £199 and the 16GB version is £269. When new customers buy the ipod touch, they get the new software upgrade that is now out (mail, stocks, weather, notes, music lyrics for songs, movable widgets, multiple home screens etc) for free. It literally is the iphone now, just without phone call capability and camera. I've had mine since it first came out and im happy with it, its very durable, i dont leave it in a case and its always in my pocket and the front screen does not scratch at all, unless you happen to chuck it hard on the floor, whilst the rear of the ipod will scratch, but that didnt bother me. It's actual space capacity (for 16gb anyway) is 14.8gb ad ive got 1436 songs on at the moment and 8 videos and got 2.1gb left, so theres plenty of space to put in what you want. You can also use jailbreak (i think its out soon for the 1.1.3 firmware which is the newest update) soon to get loads of other good applications for the ipod touch. It is really easy to use aswell, everything is very smooth, you can access music volume, skip tracks etc without unlocking the phone completely so its easy to skip songs etc whilst your walking about. Not really sure what else you want to know? If you want one and have the money, then go for it and get one The only real problem i will say i've had with it, is that sometimes ive sync'd it, unplugged it from my computer, gone to my music and it says that there is no music, then find out that the whole ipod has been wiped clean and the itunes restore button doesnt work and i have to manually restore it instead and sync everything again. Thats only happened 3 times though and other than that i dont have any problems with it.

    Printing Help

Hey, My printer has decided to not work for some reason, its a HP Deskjet F4180 Basically whenever i try to print in word it just says "Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup" In notepad it says "The handle is invalid" I've reinstalled the printer drivers and the same error just pops up, does anyone have a clue why its doing this? Also ive had the printer shared over my network. My XP machine has the printer attached to it via USB, and my Vista machine is using it via the network and my Vista machine can still print, yet the XP one cant. I'm really confused, does anyone know why its doing this?
  18. Make sure you are stretching before and after exercise, otherwise the muscle soreness will occur (well it probably will anyway just not as bad), or even a good ol' massage will help alleviate the horrible achy feeling, or even put ice on where it feels sore the most. Or just be a man and deal with it
  19. oh dear, silly woman, just get rid of the internet connection? I love the way they compare it to drug addiction, good ol' journalism. Plus WoW is rubbish anyway, i once downloaded the free trial version and was bored within seconds, although saying that i did used to play Runescape many moons ago
  20. Found it, pay me later They have let you listen to the second CD rather than the first, so its the second track on the second CD Pretty Girl With A Crooked Smile - DJ T-Rock & Squashy Nice
  21. I see what you mean, the song lyrics dont even match the song its supposed to be. I've also found that all the songs you can listen to dont match the actual songs, so if you find the names of the other songs you can listen to on there, you can maybe find the album the song you are looking for belongs to, if you get what i mean hope that helps!
  22. Yes, plus free weights promote a free range of motion, whereas machines restrict this (although some newer machines are quite good with allowing good motion). But yeh i agree, due to the stabilising muscles involved in using free weights, it is alot better for you as everything is not in a fixed position.
