  1. Hey guys cheers for the info with the have cables, i just got the totally overpriced apple cable today and im pretty pissed with apple, basically everything that ive bought off of itunes does not work and i cannot play it on the t.v, now unless im doing something wrong, then why the hell would they sell something which cant play music and music videos that you have legally bought off of itunes? When playing music videos i just get the message "This video cannot be played" and when playing music, i just get nothing, it says its playing on the ipod yet no sound. Any ideas if im doing anything wrong
  2. Quick question about Ipods Basically i have an ipod touch and an ipod classic, what do i need to be able to connect them to a T.V so i can watch movies off of them? Ive looked on the apple website and ive found an have composite cable, but its £35 and it seems waaay overpriced for my liking, just wondering if anyone else does this and what they use, or can recommend one to use? Also, whats the difference between composite and component inputs i dont have a clue
  3. The mac should automatically defrag files within a specific file limit so you dont have to manually do it, although i think there is software out there that can do it aswell.

    Clocks!

    ipod touch did so
  5. Dependent on where you work, just get a friend to come through the till and accidentally forget to scan one of his items, sell it and make up for any money that they say you have lost and live with a bad conscience. Also it does seem a bit unfair, especially if it is one of those places where you count the money at the end of the day yet more than one person has been on it. At tesco's ive been talked to a few times about money going missing from a till, but they didnt seem too bothered, just asked if i knew anything about it, i said no and they didnt really care. Although, if it is just you using the till, just be extra careful when dealing with the money
  6. I want to partition an external hard drive that i have so that one partition can be used for putting on random crap and the other can be used to work with time machine If i partition the drive im assuming it will erase all of the data that is currently on the drive? If so then is there a way of instead setting time machine to only use up a specific amount of hard drive space, otherwise it just happily uses up the whole hard drive over time which is annoying when you need some more space to find you need to go through and delete some backups. Or is there just another piece of software that does the same and allows for a size limit.
  7. What he said, dont download porn off of dodgey sites or just generally go on dodgey sites and you should be fine a firewall monitors inbound/outbound traffic and either allows or prevents packets of information from getting into your network, therefore preventing crap from getting in basically.

    Pc Help

What you need to do is get into the 'Security' tab on the properties of the folder you are trying to access, within this tab there is something along the lines of replacing the ownership of this folder and all of its subcontents, it then changes the permissions and this then gives you full read/write access to the folder and all the files within I cant really be of much help as im on my mac at the moment but give it a try, you will more than likely need to be logged onto the computer as the administrator aswell. EDIT: ive done a little searching for you and have run this in VMware to see it if works for you, firstly are you running Windows XP Home edition or professional? All of this has to be done whilst logged in as administrator aswell, anyway if you are running professional its pretty simple to receive full permissions, firstly open up a windows explorer window (open up my documents or whatever), then go to 'Tools>Folder options' then select the 'View' tab, now down the bottom of the advanced settigs list make sure that 'Use Simple File Sharing' is unticked, if not then untick it and apply changes. Now after youve applied this change, right click on the folder that you want to get access to and go into its properties and select the security tab. Within the security window select the Advanced button, within this window select the 'Owner' tab, now you need to select the owner you want to grant full permissions to (that being your administrator account) then tick the little box that says 'Replace owner on subcontainers and objects' then hit apply and you should now have full permission it will replace the current owner (that probably being the old user) with the new user (administrator) If you are running Windows Xp Home edition, then you need to do all of that in safe mode instead If that doesnt work then ive just chatted a load of shit and i cant help you ,

    Revision

I would recommend revising, i didnt revise at all and got C's and B's at gcse, went off to college then kinda thought, well i better revise otherwise theres kinda no point me going to college if im just planning on getting shitty grades at the end of it and now im getting A's and B's all round. Just look at it like this, after your gcse's thats it, you dont have to revise for school exams ever again (unless you go to college) so why not just put in the effort then do whatever the hell you want afterwards, rather than looking back and thinking ahh shit i wish i had actually bothered revising. As for how to revise, each to there own really, i just write up all my notes in a summary in the form of questions and answers which i get someone to read back to me, where they ask the questions i give the answers and thats it.

    Cam Help

If its a Video_TS folder, then surely thats just the folder which normally contains files under the format for DVD's, he just needs to convert the .VOB files within that folder?
  14. Like Tomm said Videora ipod converter is great for pc If you have a mac then handbrake and isquint is good also. For the iphone you just need to make sure that the file is a .mp4 and it will work.
  15. Nope ill have a look now thought id got it, but after checking it wasnt the right one (hence the edit)
  16. Indeed, have the disk in your computer when you start it up, follow the instructions to boot from the disk, then its something along the lines of deleting the partition which will be your hard drive, or if you have multiple partitions then delete them all. Then you will have to wait whilst it is formatted and then windows is re-installed.

    The Lost Thread

  18. Hmph, network problems on my mac, i have a host computer on windows vista, and a few client computers, including my mac, the windows based systems seem to be working fine, yet on my mac after a few mins my connection seems to just drop, im still connected to the network, yet cant do anything? I had azureus installed thinking that maybe conflicting with the network somehow yet its still not working, anyone got any ideas, its getting annoying now? It also did use to happen on the other computers, yet i havent used them enough recently to notice. EDIT: Sorted
  19. I havent got the video, but it sounds like one where he used adequate 7 and AFI in the video, if it is, then the song is 'This Celluloid Dream' or 'Dancing Through Sunday' by AFI. If not then i aint got a clue!
  20. I've been on ntl/virgin for ages, im currently on the 'Up to 20MB' service, during the prime time when people will be using the net i get around an average of about 1.7 mbits/s download speed, then other times its usually around 2-2.5mbits/s. This is with be downloading lots of stuff aswell, i usually download around quite a few gb's of data a week (for example this week ive done around 15gb) The only time we noticed the 'fair usage policy' really affecting us was when we went down to the 'up to 4mb' service, when our download speed was really cut down to around 100kb/s.
  21. Wireless 'N' router £59 I bought this one two days ago, had no problems so far, the range is alot better than my previous linksys router and is a good price for the new standard of wireless
  22. If you need a last try fix, then try a piece of software called Network Magic, it will more than likely sort out any problem that you have with your LAN, its only a trial version (but you have the full program basically until it runs out), but if it fixes the problem then you can just remove it afterwards and everything will still work fine, i used to use it ages ago until i learnt how to network my computers together myself.
  23. If its the Samsung PCstudio you can download off of samsung website EDIT: Bah! too slow ah well, heres a direct link Linky!
  24. I was bored and tried it last night, although it did wake me up 3 times within the night because, to get the camera to focus it has to use the backlight of the computer, therefore a big ass white light comes on that is likely to wake you up if you are a light sleeper like me, although that only lasts for around 5 seconds, not sure how often it occurs though. My camera couldnt pick up the image properly either so it was just a bit of a blur until the sun came out in the morning, unless i just hadnt set it up properly. It's quite clever as it takes snapshots every 2mins, then compiles them into a video for you that shows what you did through the night with a little timer in the corner aswell, also if you are a sleep talker, then it will record audio that lasts for over 5 seconds (that can be changed i think to less than 5 secs), so you can hear what you say during the night. So just make sure you have somewhere decent to place it that shows your whole body, also make sure there is a dim light within the room to begin with aswell for best results, or even the light from outside by leaving your curtains open. Back to the thread, if im sharing an external drive on my xp machine, is there a way of getting a shortcut to it on my macbooks desktop? rather than having to go into finder>recent servers Im going to try again tonight and see what its like, give it a go and see what you think.
