  1. Aye already seen that place but it's a bit far to be honest. Might go further afield if we start taking it a bit more seriously but for now it's just a laugh so don't want to be travelling uber far.
  2. Bit of rust is only superficial. As long as it's still actually working... Failing that buy another Avid, and use that one as spares or something. Seems a shame to waste a nice brake.
  3. Makes more sense to just buy some hydraulic fluid and pads doesn't it? Pads are about £8 and hydraulic fluid is about £3, both delivered off eBay... If the brake still works, no point chucking out a working brake.
  4. eBay couldn't find one, I'm looking on there for the moment, so could do with some other brands and models too. I do like Trek, but don't think I'd get a decent enough spec for the money, with such an expensive frame. Don't want to do it on the cheap if I can help it, but can't afford thousands. Also after actually looking around, I wouldn't mind perhaps something with rear suspension. So if anyone has any other suggestions, feel free to give them. On another note, if someone could help me in figuring out what size I need, I#d be most appreciative. Where do I measure, presumed it was my inside leg?
  5. Is it just me or do you make that bike look like it weighs about 6 tonnes?
  6. Not got £2,500 if I did I'd be buying a Trek Session 88
  7. I think I'd prefer hardtail, I imagine full suspension would be a lot more expensive for a decent shock and stuff, plus I'd set it quite hard anyway. I'm not too sure really what category it falls under, won't be going too seriously on it, just messing about on a weekend at Grizedale and Gisburn Forests...
  8. Was recently looking at upgrading my current bike, but it seems I could probably get a pre-owned one for around the same money, and use mine as a backup/spares. Just looking at buying a 2004 Kona Cowan, but wondering what else could be out there? Been having a look on eBay, but other than searching for Commencal and Kona, I'm not too sure what to look for. Be looking at about a £500 budget, which should get me a decent spec for a second hand bike shouldn't it? Also not sure what technical frame size I am, but I'm 5'9-10 and quite suit a lower back end frame. What would people recommend I look into?
  9. Some nice medium sized jumps would be good, not too rocky, quite muddy... The usual really, nothing mega challenging.
  10. Where is there in Morecambe or Preston? Don't know of any woods myself round that area but if you do can you direct me towards them
  11. Me and my mate went to Grizedale Forest today, but couldn't really get our bearings, and wanting to test out some other places too. Anyone know of anywere decent to ride around North West kind of area? Lancaster, Kendal, Preston, Morecambe, Milnthorpe... That kind of area.
  12. Whats the point of a bike Forum if all everyone did was Google everything? I have looked on Google plenty of times for things, but as it's a 4 year old frame and not a particularly common one, it's hard to find other people with them let alone full spec lists of what they're running.
  13. Never had to do anything to my Hope hydro, I only changed the pads and bled it last week... First time in about 4 years. It's never missed a beat, and didn't really needed doing but did it anyway mainly out of boredom.
  14. Have to make sure they fit, been told good things about the older models of Marzocchi's. These are just what I already have, broke a prong on my camera charger so waiting for another, if these are no good I'll take new ones when it arrives...
  15. Not sure if it is or not, how do I check? Sounds a bit daft but never been asked that before
  16. Fair play then, I had a quick look on eBay but wasn't really sure what names to look for etc... So couldn't really calculate prices. I also wouldn't mind an older pair as long as they're half decent. Anyway cheers for your advice man, I think I'll wait until I can afford some better ones, seems like the best option, appreciate your advice
  17. Perfectly aware of that, I was just making the point they have enough clearance when the bottom pedal is down, it's quite far from the ground. I'd never pedal while going round a corner, or with the inside pedal to the bottom... 2008 Commencal Absolut Cromo.
  18. When the bikes straight, the pedal at the bottom, it has a minimum of 5 1/2in clear of the floor when it's horizontal, and a good 3 1/2in clear of the floor when the pedal is vertically set. If that helps?...
  19. Didn't buy the bike brand new, and it came as just a frame, so not actually 100% sure what it was originally made for, can't find another for sale brand new to see what the factory fitted them with. I could always just see how much room the pedals have got when right to the floor... At worst I'll then know to only go for 26". Nice one for pointing that out, wouldn't have thought to check that
  20. Just been looking for a rear disc for my Commencal (I know the hub won't take a disc, in search of wheels too ) but yeah anyway, how does a disc go on this, doesn't look like it would stay in place with just one bolt?
  21. This. Also made my eyes go funny
  22. I've no idea what they go for, also I have no problem in buying second hand long as they're in good condition. What would you suggest for a decent fork budget? Also I have a decent set of rigids, but I fancied a change and see how it feels to have suspension.
  23. Hoping around £50 would be enough for a reasonable pair? Don't want to be spending crap loads, but don't want them knackering after one outing from being crap. I also don't do particularly massive jumps either, so not like they're going to get absolutely hammered.
  24. Over the past 3 days been trying to find a decent wheelset in 26", and they all seem to come in 24"... This is going to sound really dumb, but A) what's the real difference in feel other than obviously slightly small. And would 24" just slot right in my bike? Never thought of switching to 24" before, their seems to be a hell of a lot more variety for it, so think I might if it will be simple enough to do...
  25. It's a 2008 Commencal Absolut Cromo, more of a jump bike than a full suspension mountain bike lol... I quite like the rigid feel but wouldn't mind a bit more give, as the back end is obviously rock hard, wouldn't mind it a bit comfier up front. I just don't want to have to take my forks and everything out to measure them to put them back in again prefer to try getting an online spec of it then I can go from there.
