  1. Sweet Brown says it how it is. I think we should invite her along?
  2. Non trials related, expensive, very very restrictive to what riders can do and renewable. It has been discussed up here. But anybody training without some qualification and without insurance maybe liable to being sued as is the way. Maybe something else that is discussed; as although we have run informal pre season free coaching days, new riders just arrive at comps with various levels of knowledge. There is perhaps a requirement for young or new riders to be given instruction on trials competition and how to improve their skills. Our various weekly barn sessions and a new training area being built this week for younger riders are serving the need just now. I know the trials academy is working along this route as well. Also thanks Andrew for stepping up more the better,
  3. There is the Scottish bike trials club, and depending where you are there are a few very easy going barn sessions each week. Good to ride with others and its indoor at this time of year. Mostly beginners at theses sessions as well, with people to help and advise.
  4. From now on its just positive discussion points. Past is past.
  5. See I was wrong. I didn't mean to put him off and maybe the more relaxed street bike might help, just passing on our experiences as he also has knee problems. Hope you typed that up touching wood. (that one is just for Ross)
  6. I wont go over what I think of them again Andrew. Yes you are correct about targeting other groups like schools etc and that is what we are doing up here. The club did a demo/give it a go at the weekend near Glasgow that was organised for kids to be introduced to cycling. The feedback was great and lots of groups dealing with youngsters and communities were very impressed and will hopefully lead to more contacts and kids getting started. Also I think because it was not you guys ( Elite/expert) doing the demo but younger kids just starting out, that the kids watching could relate to them better. Also cycling clubs are showing a huge interest in trials for there youngsters to grow there bike handling skills to mostly improve for there own disciplines, but even if a few stay at trials which seems to be happening then we win as a trials club. The work is being done mostly by a new dad as I am guilty as others of just ORGANISING events for those that are interested and have never really taken to much time to promote trials. It isn't what I am good at but I am taking much enthusiasm from it to help him. I have Scottish cycling agreeing to put up a webpage about trials, but have not done so because of a lot of reasons (which also apply to British cycling) I don't wish to discuss here, but will chat about with you no problem. Come up to the AGM if you can, we can have a chat then?
  7. Why? I thought it was perhaps helpful info to him about his knee and the experiences we have had, but I have been wrong in the past. and also I really don't care about negatives on this forum anymore.
  8. Oops my mum says I cant help people anymore.
  9. Well Scott, depending on where it is somebody has to! But if you can get the club a venue up by you then I will only be to happy to drive North????? That goes for anybody else? 3hrs imagine what Bailey does each event from Applecross.
  10. It was a great thing a few years ago. But somebody needs to volunteer to get all these prizes sponsored and collected, or a group of people with company contacts. Any volunteers, but I will put it in the points. thanks
  11. Ha the challenge has been thrown. Get your old named above cohorts dusted of as well. Might have a perfect artificial type section comp for you next year. In negotiations at the moment.
  12. You know you want to in your next Vlog come on over for an Edinburgh ride, got some much bigger rocks than that one in the park?, such a talent gone to street. (Duncan and Ben as well) Comp scene is changing next year for the good. Please refer to Ross MC for my sense of humour, 12 years is enough and I do understand the reason to use the talent else where.
  13. Oh Ali you should no better than to make a comment like that. Keyboard warriors let battle commence.
  14. Please UCI can I have another a half metre on everything please. Where is Mick?
  15. Couple more. More tomorrow. Maybe how to dab? Just a few cm's more over the winter.
  16. Very nice, but why the single bolt clamp design meaning you have to remove a grip/tape if you need to get it of the bars.
  17. AGM date is getting closer (still not decided but will be by end of year) and what! nobody has any points or opinions on what riders want. Plenty getting discussed by all in Belgium this weekend and at Hook woods last weekend on what the people want to be discussed and lots of very positive opinions being brought up from section marking to where the events need to be held. Its at a turn around point and few people old and new are bringing things to the table. I got it Ross but kept my keyboard to myself, its a manners thing that some seem to be lacking in and I know some have a long trip home but 15 to 30 min extra on the day is not really a problem, to build the whole club spirit thing is it. Barbara does certificates for the primary class, but should we have to bribe riders to stay? That waiting time could be used to help dismantle the sections and help with anything else needing done. Oops seemed to have sorted that bit already.
  18. Some pics, got 600 but didn't get any of other 20" qualifying because most were in Aaron's or heat before when he was warming up. Sorry
  19. We was there, It is just unbelievable the level these guys are at ( the 20" finalists for me was just special) and then Jack is just up a couple more. Well done, finally achieved a year he has worked so hard for, Mick and Karen given a lot of years to Jack, and it was nice to see them there and very proud of his achievements. There were also a good number of British riders having a go as well and each one needs a mention as well. British riders at world level, is on the way up and with a good few younger riders working very hard at it, the future looks good. Owen so close to semi finals and Andrei so close to super final. Although the weekend was made when we got home and watched the final on you tube, Andrei,s comment on the rock section was priceless. With his co commentator not picking it up made it even funnier.
  20. After a request for a new topic for comp riders to add requests to be discussed for 2017. This will hopefully run along side a questionnaire like last year? Please just add what you want discussed or raised for next year and no discussions on here please. I will collate these and add them to the relevant peoples discussions points for the BTF AGM. If there is to much to discuss in the short time then maybe it can be discussed somewhere else before 2017. Now is your chance to have a say.
  21. The BTF AGM from what I know has no club members, and therefore only has invited clubs with votes at the AGM and other representative parties like sponnsors. If this is not the case then forgive me but that has been the way it has been since I have been attending through the Scottish club. With anybody that holds office within the BTF at the time ie Chairman, secretary, press officer etc both BIU and UCI coordinators. There is a preliminary agenda sent out to those attending and then we can add other topics that we feel necessary to be discussed. The day would go as any AGM would, audited accounts are approved, the British championship events are briefly commented on by the organising club and then onto points of discussion. Other various points may be commented on if required. Preliminary dates and venues are set for next years championship. This is all minuted and then sent out for approval after the AGM. Mark did a questionnaire last year but was not intended, I believe to be discussed at the AGM. He has correctly said it would be a good idea to get riders and anybody else with an interest to update the questions and reply in time for the AGM. This is perhaps more relevant than ever and if Mark could do the same again for this year then it will help greatly. Perhaps a new topic as well as the questionaire would help. i will start the new topic. Its our trials an is to come out of the slump it is in then it is up to as many people to give it something back. I have just had a long discussion with a press company about trials in Scotland with the intention to get Scottish trials into the national press with the three international riders as the bases of the story. Thanks to one of the riders dads having a company with a press officer, it has given the club and unknown to me a door to raise the profile of trials. More to come.
  22. meetings and discussions will and are being had with the people that do the work and a few others that have put there heads up and said we can help. If you havn't offered to help then please do so and then you can be included, and I am sure Mark can easily get a questionnaire for the customers out before Barbara announces the AGM date? This is an open forum lets hear comp riders views on what the future is(has) to be. keep it simple for now. Nothing to do with the bitchin and who does what, just genuine positive comments and requests. Then maybe they can be included in the questionnaire? LETS GET THIS MOVING BEFORE THE AGM AND TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
  23. Keep your cheese piece (sandwich for the non Scottish speakers) between the top tubes, sexy bike.
  24. Austrian BIU was run by a Czech club. At the end of a brilliantly organised, well set out trial as usual in Europe. ALL and mean ALL the club members from young to old had a after event team briefing all with their club T shirts on. What was said I don't know but then they ALL set off to disassemble the sections clear up the advertising and take down the gazebos. All 17 sections that were marked and taped. Almost everybody also staid for the presentations. This is just an observation from a great weekend. Was typing this as Mr Chai, was typing his. Couldn't agree more. We are winning up here and more and more people just turn up and do things before and after and that makes for a better club. I have learnt that you have to ask sometimes, Tony it has always been a problem since I started doing trials in 1977!!!
