To expand from the incredibly useful reply, they are not entirely universal no.
You have separate boosters for V brakes entirely, they are a different design.
With boosters they have to be compatible with your brake mounts, so measure the distance between the centre of the bolt holes and look for a booster with a specified range that matches the measurement you've taken. There is a vid on tarty that explains it a bit better.
Also some have different levels of stiffness to others, I got on really well with my Echo SL 2bolt booster, a few other people had them as well. I thought they looked good as well though a lot of boosters look gash. Give trialtech a bash though heard they're really stiff
